Opis:: The construction and principle of operation of the conventional ZF-4HP24 automatic transmission used in a Land Rover Range Rover P38A off-road vehicle has been discussed and results of field testing of the automatic transmission (AT) have been presented. Within the field tests, automatic transmission fluid (ATF) pressures were measured at diagnostic take-off points in the AT hydraulic system. Moreover, the ATF viscosity was determined (at normal operating temperature) for fresh fluid and for ATF samples taken from the AT under tests after a long period of normal operation of the transmission. The field tests were carried out before and after servicing the AT, during which the AT fluid and fluid suction filter were replaced. The field tests revealed that before replacement of the fluid and fluid suction filter, the AT operated incorrectly, especially when the normal ATF operating temperature was achieved.
W pracy omówiono budowę i zasadę działania konwencjonalnej automatycznej skrzyni biegów ZF-4HP24, eksploatowanej w samochodzie terenowym Land Rover Rangę Rover P38A. Przedstawiono wyniki badań drogowych polegających na pomiarze ciśnień płynu ATF w punktach diagnostycznych układu hydraulicznego automatycznej skrzyni biegów. Wykonano badanie lepkości (dla temperatury eksploatacyjnej) świeżego płynu ATF oraz płynu ATF po przebiegu eksploatacyjnym, pobranego z badanej ASB. Badania drogowe przeprowadzono przed oraz po obsługiwaniu polegającym na wymianie płynu ATF i filtra ssawnego ASB. ASB, poddana badaniom drogowym przed wymianą płynu ATF i filtra ssawnego, wykazywała usterki w działaniu, zwłaszcza po osiągnięciu temperatury eksploatacyjnej płynu ATF.

Opis:: Extensive use of pressurized steam in the oil and gas sectors has led to incidents where workers were seriously injured. In this study a test device and procedure to measure heat transfer through fabrics during steam exposure were developed and evaluated. Several factors were considered while designing the test device to simulate work site conditions. Fabrics were exposed to steam at 2 distances (50 and 100 mm) and 2 pressures (207 and 69 kPa). Theoretical considerations included heat and mass transfer, and fabric structure and performance properties. The test device and procedure differentiated well among both fabric and exposure conditions. For all fabrics, maximum heat transfer was observed at highest steam pressure and shortest distance. Laminated and coated fabrics performed better than a fabric without such treatments.

Opis:: The performance of a ZI engine is presented in the paper, as well as a project involving a device for applying a partial load in the performed examinations of a brake-chassis test bed. The device was prepared for an Opel Astra and enabled the determination of exterior characteristics of the engine for different values of the engine load. The indicating pressure sensor and the angle marker on the crankshaft allowed for the recording of the indicating pressure obtained at different values of the load. The analysis of heat evolution in the process of burning, based on the registered results of the measurements at the brake-chassis test bed, has also been included in the presentation.
