    Opis:
    Сепаратизм у Великій Британії є однією з найбільших проблем. Вона виникла внаслідок побудови Британської імперії і продовжує існувати внаслідок її розпаду. У статті досліджуються внутрішні та зовнішні причини сепаратизму у Великій Британії. Внутрішні пов’язані з рухами відокремлення Північної Ірландії і Шотландії від Великої Британії. Зовнішні причини перебувають у сфері міжнародних відносин і стосуються виходу Британії з Європейського Союзу (брексіт). Проаналізовано підґрунтя цих процесів та доведено, що воєнні дії не були успішними. Найкращий шлях подолання сепаратизму – тристоронні перемовини та компроміси з боку держави-метрополії. Було виявлено, що вихід Великої Британії з ЄС в той час, коли сепаратистські рухи вирують вдома, дає останнім змогу вийти з метрополії та отримати незалежність.
    Separatism in Great Britain is one of the biggest problems. It is closely connected with the building of the British Empire and continues to exist as a cause of it disintegration. Home and internationalcauses of separatism in Great Britain are detected in this article. One concerns home affairs and deals with the processes of separation of Northern Ireland and Scotland from Britain. The other lies in thesphere of international affairs and deals with the exit of Great Britain from European Union. The background of these processes has been analyzed and was proved that military actions have not beensuccessful. The best way is the three parts negotiations and compromises from the metropolitan state. It was exposed that to solve issues of international affairs such as separation of Great Britain from EUat the same time with separatism movements at home gives the latters the opportunity to leave metropolis and gain independence.

    Велика Британія – це країна, в якій концепція історичної пам’яті підтримується впродовж тривалого часу. Ось чому особливо цікаво дізнатися, як це робиться у ХХІ ст. У статті досліджується, як традиції, ритуали та цінності були збережені у Великій Британії впродовж багатьох століть, і як водночас народжувалися нові протягом останніх десятиліть. Це кейсстудія, в якій аналізується увічнення у Великій Британії видатної дати – століття початку Першої світової війни; досліджені старі та нові традиції, ритуали, події та перфоманси, що зберігають і розвивають історичну пам’ять британського суспільства.
    Great Britain is a country where the concept of historical memory has been sustained for a long time. It is especially interesting, how it has been done in the XXIst century. This article investigates,how traditions, rituals and values have been saved in Great Britain for many centuries and at the same time, how new ones have been born for last decades. This is a case-study in which the perpetuation inGreat Britain of a great date – the century from the date of the outbreak of the First World War; old and new traditions, rituals, events, performances that preserve and develop the historical memory ofBritish society are researched.

    У статті констатується, що Велика Британія протягом багатьох століть була найбільшою імперією в світі. Завдяки синхронному та діахронному підходам виявлено подекуди часову симультанність розвитку Британської імперії у різних частинах світу, яка втім виступала у різних формах її правління (колонії, домініони, підмандатні території тощо), і у різному ставленні до них імперського Лондона. Вона пройшла еволюцію від Першої Британської імперії, яка розвивалася за рахунок торгівлі рабами, до Другої імперії, коли вона колонізувала одну з найбільших держав світу – Індію та інші країни Сходу, до третьої Британської імперії, коли її колонії поширилися на всі куточки Земної кулі. Нарешті, четверта Британська Імперія – це умовне позначення розпадуколоніальної системи. Показано, як визвольні рухи, починаючи з Індії і закінчуючи Африкою, підірвали колишню могутність Британської імперії, яка з низки окреслених у статті причин немогла її втримати. Утворення незалежної держави Велика Британія, вільної від колоній не призвело до втрати імперського духу, який виявляється в практичних справах – організації Британської співдружності націй (British Commonwealth of Nations), яка згодом була перейменована на Співдружність (Commonwealth), Брекзіт і таке інше. Зроблено висновок, що Велика Британія намагається посісти місце глобальної держави в світі.
    In the article, it is stated that Great Britain had been the biggest empire in the world in the course of many centuries. Due to synchronic and diachronic approaches it was detected time simultaneousness of the British Empire’s development in the different parts of the world. Different forms of its ruling (colonies, dominions, other territories under her auspice) manifested this phenomenon.The British Empire went through evolution from the First British Empire which was developed on the count mostly of the trade of slaves and slavery as a whole to the Second British Empire when itcolonized one of the biggest states of the world India and some other countries of the East; to the Third British Empire where it colonized countries practically on all the continents of the world. TheForth British Empire signifies the stage of its decomposition and almost total down fall in the second half of the 20th century. It is shown how the national liberation moments starting in India and endingin Africa undermined the British Empire’s power, which couldn’t control the territories, no more. The foundation of the independent nation state of Great Britain free of colonies did not lead to lossof the imperial spirit of its establishment, which is manifested in its practical deeds – Organization of the British Commonwealth of Nations, which later on was called the Commonwealth, Brexit and so on.The conclusions are drawn that Great Britain makes certain efforts to become a global state again.
