    Artykuł powstał w oparciu o pracę magisterską pt. „Percepcja wybranych cech języka Cockney przez native speakerów” obronioną w 2009 roku. Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest analiza badania ankietowego dotyczącego tematu dialektu Cockney przeprowadzonego za pomocą narzędzia umieszczonego na portalu www.freeonlinesurveys.com. Na przełomie kwietnia i maja 2009 roku w ramach uzupełnienia ankiety omówiono z native speakerami, ukierunkowując ocenę stanu ich świadomości na temat istnienia dialektu Cockney we wschodnim Londynie. Przed przystąpieniem do ankiety zapoznano się z wiedzą teoretyczną na temat Cockney, biorąc pod uwagę m.in. etymologię słowa Cockney oraz pochodzenie dialektu czyli zasady twórczości Cockney Rhyming of the Slang.
    The present article based is on the master’s thesis entitled Native speakers’ perception of chosen features of Cockney of defended by me in 2009. A principal purpose of the article is the analysis of the survey on the subject the dialect Cockney of carried out by means of the tool placed on the portal www.freeonlinesurveys.com. At the turn of April and May of the year 2009 native speakers were spoken for the supplement of the survey targeting the evaluation of the state of their consciousness on the subject existences of the dialect Cockney from eastern London. Before the analysis of the survey, became introduced theoretical knowledge on the subject of Cockney taking into account among other things the etymology of the word Cockney, the origin of the dialect or rules of the creations of Cockney Rhyming of the Slang.

    Opis:
    The Influence of British Regional Dialects on Standard English This paper is a short summary of the study of British accents and dialects over the last fifty years. The British achievements in this field are comparable to those in the United States. The aim of this article is also to present the Polish reader with differences that occur between local dialects and Standard English of the United Kingdom. I would also like to estimate the current state of research within dialects in the UK. The English language is all rich in slang words and phrases. This can be especially seen when analyzing everyday language of the average Londoner. Although England is a comparatively small country, the amount of dialects and regional variations is undoubtedly very diverse in the English-speaking world.

    The article aims at analyzing the concept and purpose of death in the Aeneid, Book 2. In its premise, the concept of death presented within the poem reveals its ethnic, social and cultural tone. The deaths which close eight books of the Aeneid indicate the progress of a main theme: abdicate the past to defend the future. Initially, towards the closing of Book 2 Creusa dies: a loyal, affectionate wife and mother who is nevertheless to be replaced by a young bride chosen for political benefits. The modes and circumstances of the deaths elicit some immediate investigations: first, it seems meaningful that some die in the bloom of youth and others in old age; second, some must die as sacrifices to the gods; third, some are destined to die because they demonstrate furious difficulties to the completion of Aeneas’ duty. Before discussing the concept of death in Book 2 it is essential to introduce the reader into some considerations representing the structure and purpose of Book 2.     Niniejsza praca ma na celu wykazanie, iż subkultura technomaniaków lub technomanów jest czymś więcej niż tylko subkulturą młodych ludzi. Członkowie owej subkultury doświadczają często duchowych doznań oraz przemian podczas imprez masowych. Eskapizm uczestników imprez związanych z muzyką techno został przeanalizowany w pracy pod względem językowo-kulturowym. Autorzy sugerują trzy obszary, które mają wpływ na terapeutyczne właściwości imprez masowych oraz doznawanie przez ich uczestników „podróży” (ang. trips). W pracy przeanalizowano 120 słów i zwrotów związanych z muzyką elektroniczną na podstawie materiału źródłowego dostępnego na największym Forum Muzyki Elektronicznej, które istnieje od 2009 roku. Obszerna analiza literatury dotyczącej języka i kultury stanowi tło teoretyczne do analizy subkultury techno i pozwala wskazać, jak blisko związane są ze sobą te dwa terminy.
    This paper aims to demonstrate that techno subculture is more than just a subculture of young people. The members of this subculture often experience spiritual and religious awakening and changes during mass events. The escapism of participants of mass events is subjected to socio-cultural and linguistic analysis. The authors suggest three areas that have an impact on the therapeutic properties of mass events and their participants experiencing “the trips”. The authors analysed 120 words and phrases concerning electronic music on the basis of source material available since 2009 through Forum Muzyki Elektronicznej (Electronic Music Forum). An extensive analysis of the literature related to language and culture builds the theoretical framework for the analysis of techno subculture and indicates how closely these two terms are related.

    The main objective of the paper is to analyse the most popular coronavirus memes which appeared in Poland in March 2020 during the coronavirus outbreak. This study shows how memes related to the coronavirus can be studied through the theoretical framework of Multimodal Discourse Analysis and Critical Discourse Analysis. We analysed 94 coronavirus memes in our study including terms such as “coronavirus” or “COVID-19” in March, 2020 from the Polish webpage Kurier Poranny (https://poranny.pl/). The contents of the memes and their various types were studied in order to reveal how Polish people deal with the coronavirus and express their emotions in the memes. Based on the critical and multimodal approach, we seek to disclose beliefs in the memes associated with COVID-19. Through our study, we found six themes of coronavirus memes: those related to quarantine (5), protection (19), politics (48), humor/joking (16), guides (5), educational (1). The high frequency of memes related to such themes as politics was justified in our paper.
