In this paper, a new method based on color features of microscopic image and least-squares support vector regression model (LS-SVR) is proposed for indirect measurement of copper concentrate grade. Red, green and blue (RGB), hue and color vector angle were extracted from color microscopic images of a copper concentrate sample and selected for the comparison. Three different estimation models based on LS-SVR were developed using RGB, hue, and color vector angle, respectively. A comparison of three models was carried out through a validation test. The best model was obtained for the hue giving a running time of 30.243 ms, root mean square error of 0.8644 and correlation coefficient value of 0.9997. The results indicated that the copper concentrate grade could be estimated by the LS-SVR model using the hue as input parameter with a satisfactory accuracy.

Opis:
Production of indium oxide $(In_2O_3)$ whiskers at a very low temperature of 650°C was reported. The synthetic route was comprised of a thermal heating process of a mixture of In and Mg powders. We have investigated the structural properties of the as-synthesized nanowires by using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The product consisted of one-dimensional nanowires, with a crystalline cubic structure of $In_2O_3$. The photoluminescence measurement with the Gaussian fitting exhibited visible light emission bands centered at 2.1 eV and 2.8 eV. The peaks of the Raman spectrum were indexed to the modes being associated with cubic $In_2O_3$.

Future wide-swath altimetry missions will provide high-resolution information about ocean surface elevation, and facilitate the characterization of meso- and sub-mesoscale ocean activities. In this study, the demand analysis of three-dimensional (3D) oceanic state reconstruction on wide-swath SSH data features was evaluated using a data assimilation strategy. Three groups of experiments were performed to determine if the wide-swath altimetry observations would improve the three-dimensional (3D) field estimates of ocean temperature-salinity-velocity (T-S-V), and to evaluate how the spatial and temporal resolution and accuracy of the wide-swath altimetry observations affected the ocean state estimation. The Regional Ocean Modeling System and the four-dimensional variational data assimilation method were used in the experiments, with numerical simulation for the Taiwan region at a resolution of 1/10° as the example. The sensitivity of the 3D ocean state construction to the wide-swath altimetry measurements was also investigated. The results showed that the wide-swath sea surface height (SSH) measurements would have an overall positive impact on the 3D T-S-V field and that the positive effect would increase as the resolution and accuracy of the observations increased, but the net benefits would gradually decrease. Among the three examined features of the wide-swath altimetry observations, the temporal resolution had the most influence on the 3D ocean state analysis.

Opis:
The parameters of a discrete element simulation model for commercial organic fertilizer particles were obtained both quickly and accurately, so that the uniformity and stability of the fertilizer discharged from the feeder may be studied using the discrete element simulation method. This study screened out the parameters which significantly influenced the repose angle of the commercial organic fertilizer using the Plackett-Burman test. Then, a model for the quadratic regression response surface of the repose angle vs the parameters was established through a Box-Behnken experiment with the measured repose angle of the fertilizer particles as the optimization index. The optimization results showed that the rolling friction coefficient and static friction coefficient between the fertilizer particles, as well as the optimal simulation parameter for the Johnson-Kendall-Roberts surface energy were 0.056, 0.355 and 0.011 J m-2, respectively. A discrete element simulation test was carried out with the optimal simulation parameters, and the repose angle error of the simulation test was found to be 0.40% relative to that of the physical test, which proved the accuracy and validity of the simulation parameters for the discrete element model of the organic fertilizer. The simulation results may provide the basic parameters for establishing a discrete element model of commercial organic fertilizer particles and investigating the performance of organic fertilizer feeders using the simulation method.

We report the production of AlN nanowires by the thermal heating method, for exploring their photoluminescence properties. The room-temperature photoluminescence properties were investigated with different annealing environment. While broad emissions with peaks at around 2.45 and 2.95 eV were obtained from both unannealed and annealed samples, the additional 2.1 eV peak was found from the annealed samples. We have suggested the possible emission mechanisms based on the assumption that both 2.45 eV peak and 2.1 eV peak are ascribed to the nitrogen vacancies. Annealing in N_2 environment exhibited lower intensities of 2.45 eV peak and 2.1 eV peak in comparison to those in Ar environment, presumably due to the suppression of nitrogen vacancies.
