    Opis:
    Steel bars are manufactured in the rolling process, whereby they are characterized by strain hardening and poor plastic properties. In many application cases such properties are improper, therefore, additional heat treatment is required. Crucial influence on the products quality after heat treatment has an appropriate selection of process parameters. In many modern technologies of heat treatment the charge of porous structure is subjected to the heating process. Proper control of heat treatment parameters of bundles of rods requires knowledge on their thermal properties. However, it also requires accurate identification of complex heat transfer processes occurring in the porous material. Such analysis, with respect to bundles of bars, provide a response of qualitative nature of the heat exchange area of these charges. The article describes the emissivity measurements of samples of the steel charge using a thermal imaging camera.

    The paper discusses the structure and principle of operation of programs for integrated modelling of the processes of heat treatment of porous-structure steel charges, such as long product bundles or strip or wire coils. Consideration is given to the specificity of these models in respect to porous charges. This is associated with their untypical thermal properties, which are expressed using the concept of effective thermal conductivity.

    The subject of interest and discussion of the paper is the use of knowledge engineering for methods supporting the preparation and verification of the measurement procedures. The idea of the method for obtaining and recording the necessary knowledge for proper preparation of these procedures and its practical use for building computer tools supporting this process have been presented in the paper.

    The optimal use of resources available in the enterprise is important regardless of the size of the company and the industry in which it operates. Enterprises are therefore forced constantly to make alternative choices related to the allocation of available resources and to optimize these choices. The article addresses the problem of the approach to optimizing the use of human resources particularly, the use of extra employee qualifications e.g., manual skills, pressure resistance, work precision, the ability to read schematic diagrams, etc. in the context of technical requirements for a given task. This is extremely important in the situation when subsequent works are individual and the conditions in which they will be performed, cannot be predicted in 100%, they may differ from those that have been implemented so far, and at the same time numerous orders of various nature are being implemented. In this situation, an accurate prediction of the requirements posed by new tasks and the appropriate selection of teams executing them can have an impact on the effectiveness of the task completion process. In the article, this problem is presented on the example of a medium-sized service enterprise operating in the industry-related sector operating basically on tender procedures and tender contests. The works are carried out on the customer's premises, often with new customers or in new field conditions. Thus, the success of the undertaking depends mainly on the optimal selection of employees with appropriate qualifications and competences. The example of an investment task is used to show a method of identifying characteristics relevant to the task as well as selection of employees in order to use the capabilities of human teams better. Technical aspects of task implementation and an employees team selection with regard to the absolutely required technical qualifications as well as the behavioral and physical skills necessary for its implementation are taken into account. The described method can be used for future tasks regardless of the changing conditions of their implementation. The intention of the authors is to develop a tool supporting the decision-making process in this area, so that it can also be used by managers with lower technical competences.

    W artykule przedstawiono badania poświęcone pomiarom emisyjności kadzi stalowniczych. Uzyskano dane dotyczące temperatur w wybranych punktach powierzchni płaszcza analizowanych kadzi, pochodzących z pomiaru stykowego. Dla każdej kadzi zarejestrowano termogramy. Wykazano, że wartość badanego parametru zależy istotnie od stopnia pokrycia kadzi zanieczyszczeniami. Ustalono, że emisyjność powierzchni zewnętrznych badanych kadzi stalowniczych mieści się w zakresie od 0,75 do 0,92.
    The article presents research performed to obtain the emission coefficient of the investigated steel ladles. The measurements were perfomed for selected points in the mantle surface of the analyzed ladle with the direct contact measurement. Thermal images were recorded for different ladles. It has been shown that the value of the examined parameter significantly depends on the degree of coverage of the ladle impurities. It was found that the emissivity of the outer surfaces of the tested steel ladles are in the range from 0.75 to 0.92.

    The paper presents a brief summary of the research and implementation works carried out by the authors in three research projects in years 2005-2011 within one of the companies managing water supply system. Exploitation and diagnostic specificity of the operation of water supply systems was discussed. Opportunities and needs of supporting the exploitation and diagnosis of the water supply system, and the capabilities and needs of a computer-aided maintenance in this task area are discussed. Based on our recognition and analysis, two computer subsystems were presented, which are main parts of an Integrated System for Control And Management of Exploitation of the Water Supply System. In this regard, there was presented a key model aspects that underpin the construction of subsystems, and it was discussed how the system works in the context of supporting selected tasks carried out by the technical staff of the analyzed company.
    W artykule przedstawiono podsumowanie prac badawczych i wdrożeniowych realizowanych przez autorów w ramach trzech projektów badawczych w latach 2005-2011 w obrębie jednego z przedsiębiorstw zarządzających systemem wodociągowym. Omówiono eksploatacyjną i diagnostyczną specyfikę funkcjonowania sieci wodociągowych. Dokonano także przeglądu możliwości i potrzeb komputerowego wspomagania w omawianym obszarze zadaniowym. W oparciu o przeprowadzone rozpoznanie i analizę zaprezentowano dwa podsystemy informatyczne tworzące Zintegrowany System Sterowania i Zarządzania Eksploatacją Sieci Wodociągowej. W tym zakresie przedstawiono kluczowe aspekty modelowe stojące u podstaw budowy poszczególnych podsystemów, a także omówiono sposób działania systemu w kontekście wspomagania wybranych zadań realizowanych przez służby techniczne badanego Przedsiębiorstwa.
