Opis:
The following article is an analysis of designed process of manufacturing a mixture of 50% rapeseed oil and 50% alcohol and using it as a fuel. The analyzed eco-fuel is completely based on renewable sources, and can be a good alternative to diesel fuel. The analysis was made according to the assumptions of Life Cycle Assessment, which is a method that divides the whole life cycle of the product into the unit processes. It is used especially for measuring the environmental impact of the product. The life cycle of fuel mixture in an amount of 10 000 l was divided into six unit processes: the production of oilseed and biomass on the farm, transport of rapeseed to oil extraction works, oil production, the production of alcohol from biomass, the transport of mixture into a transport company and the use of total fuel delivered by the company. The use of energy and the amount of pollutants emitted were particularly important in the analysis. Fuel mixture, the same as the analyzed, was used during the whole designed process. In the production of rape on a farm the tractor and the harvester were used, and caused highest emissions of pollutants during all steps involved in the production of fuel. Alcohol, the component of the mixture, was produced through the fermentation of biomass that cames from waste from rapeseed processing, which caused no energy consumption or emissions. The analysis shows that total emissions of harmful gases is lower than that of conventional diesel, which proves that the tested fuel mixture is more environmentally friendly.

Opis:
The article focuses on the use of thermoelectrics for the energy harvesting from waste heat. There were discussed the thermoelectric effects and the solutions of converting the waste heat into electricity were shown. The application and operation of thermoelectrics for heat recovery from cars, the cogeneration of heat for home and in wristwatches were presented. An analysis of the possibilities of using Peltier cells in municipal and long-distance transport was conducted. The aim of the study was to evaluate the possibility of reducing fuel costs by obtaining electricity from the Peltier cells instead of the alternator. The efficiency tests of operation the Peltier cells were carried out. On their basis was possible to determine the amount of recovered energy thanks to their use. On the basis of calculations it was concluded that at the current price of unit cell, the use of this solution is not fully economically justifiable. However, there are possible solutions that could increase the efficiency of the cell. The advantages of using cells is reducing the vehicle engine wear and emission of harmful substances into the environment. It was found that most justifiable is the mounting of cells in vehicles equipped with multiple electrical receivers with low efficiency of the engine. It was indicated that more and more new thermoelectric materials that provide efficient and cheap energy harvesting on a large scale are looking for. In Google Patents and Espacenet are posted many solutions of waste heat recovery, which indicates that this field is constantly evolving.

Opis:
Fast development of technology over the last decades has contributed to the adverse effects that may affect human health (both physical and mental). Such negative effects may include noise and vibration. These phenomena are accompanied by most of the technological processes. Need for more efficient and productive processes is causing rising trend in intensifying of these phenomena. It is unavoidable to increase efficiency without increasing the operating speed of machinery and equipment. The main goal of this paper is to carry out NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) analysis of engines; compression-ignition engine (diesel) and spark-ignition engine (gasoline) equipped in the same type of vehicle. But purpose is laying on presented methodology, not results of researches (but of course it will be presented too) which often (mainly) is made for failure detections. This paper will also cover influence of the engine mounting on generated acoustic vibrations followed by comparative NVH analysis of states occurring in diesel and gasoline engine. Scope of the work: a) theoretical introduction, b) presentation of vibration measurement (using LDV: Laser Doppler Vibrometry), c) NVH analysis in two types of engines, d) comparison of results, e) conclusions.

Opis:
This paper presents the life cycle of the fuel with the use of LCA. This method is taken from the management theory allows to describe and predict the impact of production processes, transport and use of fuels on the environment. The aim of the study is to compare the energy consumption of the test fuels (diesel, a blend of rapeseed oil and butyl alcohol) in the process of their production. The results indicate that most energy is consumed during the processing of crude oil. This process produced a large quantity of sulphur oxides. Very energy intensive (53,859 GJ per 10 k litres of fuel produced) part of the production is rape culture. This is due to the long working hours of agricultural tractors and combines. In this process, are secreted large amounts of exhaust gas: CO (2.664 kg), NOx (23.31 kg). Inter alia, environmental life cycle assessment, schematic structure of the LCA, the energy balance of the life cycle of diesel oil, the energy balance of the life cycle of rape oil mixed with butyl alcohol, the balance of raw material sourcing, the balance of the materials necessary to production of a mixture of rape oil and butanol alcohol are presented in the paper.
