The theoretical aspects of diagnostics and diagnostic methodology are an important issue. Apart from theoretical aspects, this paper presents experiment results and a practical implementation example. Telemetry has a numbe of different definitions, depending on the area of application. It is generally defined as data acquisition at a remote, inconvenient and/or dangerous location and subsequent transmission of the data to another location for analysis. Telemetry systems are increasingly popular. The most widely used systems include the equipment for monitoring truck scales. The data obtained with this method allow estimating vehicle weight with accuracy between 90% and 98%. Currently a large number of ready-made, professional telemetry systems are commercially available. The LabView programming language used in this example allows for data visualization and acquisition. It also allows saving the executed program as an individual application. The measurements additionally included temperature, throttle position and battery voltage. Experiments proved that for stable communication an 80 kbps band is required. The commonly used telemetry systems, and even their custom-made original versions (as the one here presented), allow for remote diagnostics of an object using widely available communication technologies. The problem seems to be very development and requires further studies, which are scheduled in the near future.

Ecology problems are addressed in all areas of engineering. Gasification is widely used methodology, which allows to power vehicles and fuel generators via alternative fuel. The more it seems important to address the issues of gasification in the group of scientists dealing with machines. In article authors present results of methodology in effectivity of gasification graduation. The base of experiment is the complimentary reactor, which was made for gasification of different materials. Gases that are achieved on the output of the system are used to supply combustion engines. In article, expect mentioned methodology, authors present reactor build and measurement (including complimentary software) system, mounted on system. The new energy supplies are still discovered. At the same time, researchers on good know substances are in progress. In article, authors are presented one of the methods of gasification reactor effectivity. Authors’ reactor has a burning chamber, and outlet circuit. Presented methodology was relayed on E-E system with software part. System is contained a few thermocouples with multiplexing ADC card for acquisition of data. All parts are presented in an article. An article is a result of progressing grant in DEMONSTRATOR+ program (no. WND-DEM-1-527/001).

Opis:
Accelerometric tests, similarly to laser tests (with regard to human health) are something of novelty. All standards related to this issue refer to sound intensity (measured using specialised microphones). The work presents results of accelerometric tests conducted during driving cycles on an inertial load chassis dynamometer Maha LPS3000. The object of the research was Mazda 3 1.6 (petrol), built in 2010, mileage 70 thousand km. The tests were related to vibration measurements on a chassis dynamometer using various, forced tractive effort (300, 500 and 700 N). No additional signal processing was used (except for operations necessary to create a spectrum) so as to present the whole vibration spectrum with special emphasis on the resonance frequency of human organs. The article presents vibration amplitude measured at the level of the headrest for three forced tractive efforts: 300, 500 and 700 N. The measurements were made at the speed of 60 km/h in the fourth gear (which corresponds to about 2000 rpm). The obtained results, indicate that the maximum value of harmonics fall in the range 85-95 Hz. Hence, they are resonance frequencies of eyeballs. In addition to this, one can state that the values of these harmonics are higher for higher values of forced tractive efforts. This would mean that seats should be additionally stabilised (dampened) to limit the influence of dangerous vibration on a human organism.

The current interest in the development of hybrid vehicles is a response to serious effects of road transport on the environment over recent years. In addition, vehicles equipped with this type of drive combine the advantages of a conventional diesel engine and electric motor. This results in higher system efficiency while reducing emissivity. This work seeks to demonstrate the effect of electric power on the total power of a hybrid vehicle. The research on the chassis dynamometer (MAHA LPS 3000) of the hybrid sports car, Honda CRZ, has been performed in three modes of operation: normal, economical and sport. The obtained results are presented in the form of graphs of external engine characteristics, where the influence of electric power on the system is visible. The tested vehicle is equipped with sixth version of Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) technology, which is the crucial system, assisting the combustion engine in order to provide higher performance and better fuel economy.

Fast development of technology over the last decades has contributed to the adverse effects that may affect human health (both physical and mental). Such negative effects may include noise and vibration. These phenomena are accompanied by most of the technological processes. Need for more efficient and productive processes is causing rising trend in intensifying of these phenomena. It is unavoidable to increase efficiency without increasing the operating speed of machinery and equipment. The main goal of this paper is to carry out NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) analysis of engines; compression-ignition engine (diesel) and spark-ignition engine (gasoline) equipped in the same type of vehicle. But purpose is laying on presented methodology, not results of researches (but of course it will be presented too) which often (mainly) is made for failure detections. This paper will also cover influence of the engine mounting on generated acoustic vibrations followed by comparative NVH analysis of states occurring in diesel and gasoline engine. Scope of the work: a) theoretical introduction, b) presentation of vibration measurement (using LDV: Laser Doppler Vibrometry), c) NVH analysis in two types of engines, d) comparison of results, e) conclusions.

The internal combustion engine should be rated for the thermal loads that come from different sources. Thermal analysis is important both for design purposes and for evaluating the conditions of its use. Very good results are obtained by a combination of non-invasive measurement techniques, such as research using infrared thermal imaging techniques [3, 11]. The purpose of the study was to determine the engine thermal load by evaluating the average temperature on the outside surface of the engine at many of its points for two selected motorcycle engines with similar displacement capacities. For many reasons, such as ecology, durability, engine strength and thermal performance when heating and cooling are critical. To accomplish this task, a thermographic technique for indirect evaluation has been used, thus creating the possibility of measuring the temperature in a dynamic manner. These are accurate measurements and most importantly do not interfere with the construction of the object under investigation. The engine was tested during operation according to external and load characteristics. As a result of the work, graphs of temperature curves of heating and cooling of the tested engines were compiled. The article presents a methodology for measuring the temperature fields of outer surface engines. The collected material will be used in the future for studying the equable load on the cylinders, and as accurately as possible determine the conditions of movement such as power, revolutions, flow rates, temperatures and pressures.

Almost all engine failures have an influence on engine's vibration, which is described in the article .Of course not every time diagnostic system can report of that. This is a reason why detection of vibrations must be accomplished with high quality diagnostic systems. Therefore, Doppler laser Vibrometry based on scanner Polytec had been used. To achieve full diagnostic results multidimensional vibration's function has been invented, where the torque moment is used as an extra parameter. Measured vibrations were subjected to digital signal processing like windowing, fast Fourier transform, filtration byfinite impulse response windowed filters. The results of measure and processing per-form inform of contour 3 D plots, which indulge in speed estimate of the usefulness of presented method. Tested engine performance, vibration measurement parameters, adopted diagnostic circuit, Digital processing of vibration signal, Vibration versus torque and magnitude spectrum (contour vibroacoustic map) of engine in good working order; co = 2000 rpm, contour vibroacoustic map of engine in good working order; co = 4000 rpm, contour vibroacoustic map of engine with fail of injection system; co = 2000 rpm, contour vibroacoustic map of engine with fail of injection system; co = 4000 rpm, contour vibroacoustic map of engine withfail of turbo charger; co = 2000 rpm are presented in the paper.

W artykule omówione zostały metody pomiaru prędkości obrotowej. Zaprezentowano metody klasyczne, jak i nową metodę, wykorzystującą pomiar drgań, jako funkcję wejściową w procesie otrzymania wyniku wartości prędkości obrotowej wału korbowego. Przedstawiono klasyczny tor diagnostyczny, a także operacje cyfrowego przetwarzania sygnałów, niezbędne do otrzymania właściwej wiadomości diagnostycznej. W pracy znajdują się także informacje, dotyczące magistrali CAN, a także systemu EOBD.
The article discusses methods of measuring rotational speed. Classical methods as well as a new method using vibration measurement as the input function in the process of obtaining the result of the crankshaft rotational speed were presented. A classic diagnostic path, as well as digital signal processing, is required to obtain the correct diagnostic INFORMATION. The work also includes information on the CAN bus as well as the EOBD system.

W artykule omówiono najważniejsze aspekty cyfrowego przetwarzania sygnałów cyfrowych w diagnostyce silników spalinowych. Omówiono zmianę dziedziny czasu do dziedziny częstotliwości, a także wykorzystanie filtrowania (zarówno w dziedzinie czasu, jak i częstotliwości), wspomagającego właściwą analizę sygnału. Przedstawiono praktyczne zastosowanie wymienionych aspektów CPS na przykładzie analizy sygnałów wibroakustycznych silnika, mierzonych z użyciem laserowej wibrometrii dopplerowskiej, jak i akcelerometrii. Przedstawione przykłady dotyczą zarówno silnika zamontowanego w pojeździe, jak i pomiarów wykonanych na hamowni silnikowej.
The article discusses the most important aspects of digital signal processing in diagnostics of internal combustion engines. It discusses changing the time domain into the frequency domain, as well as the use of filtering (both time and frequency) to support proper signal analysis. The practical application of these aspects of DSP is illustrated by the analysis of vibroacoustic signals of the engine, measured using laser Doppler vibrometry and accelerometry systems.

A major problem in the combustion diesel engines is the different distribution of the mixture of air and fuel and also temperatures inside the combustion chamber. It helps the formation of points of the high and low oxygen concentration in the combustion chamber of the engine. In areas with a high concentration of oxygen, the combustion process produces very harmful NOx, and in places with low oxygen concentration, as a result of incomplete fuel combustion particles are created in the form of soot. This not regular distribution of the mixture of air and fuel and temperatures in the combustion chamber affect the limited maximum engine power and efficiency at his every operating cycle. One method for improving the combustion process is feeding into the engine air with high relative humidity. The study was conducted on a chassis dynamometer at the Department of Vehicles Engineering Wroclaw University of Technology. For the purposes of the study determined the external characteristics, including maximum engine power and maximum engine torque at different air relative humidity and quite similar air temperature. Analysis of the results of research shows that high air relative humidity has a positive effect on the work parameters of the diesel engine.

Background: The Regulation of the Minister of Health issued on 16th August 2018 addressed the matter of the organizational standard of perinatal care which determines guidelines concerning care of the newborn baby, in which skin-to-skin contact and early breastfeeding are important. Aim of the study: The aim of this study is to explore women’s preferences concerning care of the newborn in the immediate postpartum period. Material and methods: 130 patients attending the Pro-Familia specialist hospital in Rzeszow participated in this research. The cohort consisted of pregnant women who had attended the doctor supervising their pregnancy before delivery. The research was carried out from March to April 2013 and the data collected was statistically analyzed, assuming a significance level of p<0.05. Results: Pregnant women most often expressed a preference of an accompanying person to cut the newborn’s umbilical cord (59.2%), with 23.1% preferring a member of the medical team to do so. The majority (89.2%) of pregnant women wanted their baby to be laid on their stomach immediately following delivery to ensure skin-to-skin contact. In terms of Apgar scoring, 69.2% of women expected information about the Apgar score of their newborn immediately after delivery. Most women (60%) wished their newborn to be given routine vaccinations for hepatitis B and tuberculosis (BCG). Patients most often declare that they want to breastfeed exclusively (77.7%), with 29.2% of women expressing a wish to obtain more information about breastfeeding and 31.5% wishing to consult with a lactation specialist. Conclusions: Pregnant women expect skin-to-skin contact immediately after delivery, the umbilical cord to be cut by an accompanying person and would like to be told their newborn’s Apgar score. The women studied prefer exclusively breastfeeding, and express a wish to obtain information regarding lactation, and expect to be able to consult with a lactation specialist.

A technical object is wearing down and stop s to do its function what is connected with becoming a problem, in case of vehicles, especially in environmental aspect. The recycling rate of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) has to increase to eighty-five per cent to 2014. Nowadays few methods of recycling can be mentioned. The most popular based on disassembly, second usage of recovered materials trough fragmentation and separation of raw materials and incineration of Automobile Shredder Residue (ARS) using maximum energy recovering and minimum emission causing processes. In this paper the methods of vehicle recycling was analyzed and discussed. Especially raw materials separation aspect was taken into consideration. An average sample of ARS which is a composition of materials like rubber, plastic, wood and fibers which is use as an alternative fuel for co-burning process in industry, was analyzed. Because of metals and organic compounds (PAHs - Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons, VOC's - Volatile Organic Compounds) toxic emission problem (combustion gas emission and waste emission with cinder) in ecology aspect it is very important to know chemical properties of burning fuel. The ARS very often consist potential hazardous on human health chemical compounds or compounds whose thermal treatment products are toxic. Even if concentration of potential dangerous compound is very low it can cause very serious consequences for environment and humans. The results of chemical properties investigation of alternative fuel from vehicle using AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry) method are published in this paper. Also alternative solutions for those wastes (ARS) usage are proposed and discussed.

The consequence of biomass gasification is generation of a gas mixture composed mainly of hydrogen, carbon mono and dioxide, and methane, called SNG (Substitute Natural Gas) which can be utilized as an alternative fuel for internal combustion engines. However, the product gas mixture cannot be directly supplied to the engine due to variability of its composition as well as its impurities. This brings the necessity to conduct a series of procedures of gas purification and conditioning before supplying the engine. This paper therefore deliberates a concept of gas conditioning method.
W wyniku procesów zgazowania biomasy powstaje mieszanina gazów składająca się między innymi z wodoru, tlenu węgla, ditlenku węgla i metanu, tzw. syngaz, który może zostać wykorzystany jako paliwo alternatywne do silnika spalinowego. Powstały syngaz, ze względu na swój skład (występowanie zanieczyszczeń) i parametry nie może być jedna podany do silnika w sposób bezpośredni. Niezbędne jest więc przeprowadzenie szeregu zabiegów kondycjonowania i oczyszczania gazu syntetycznego. W pracy przedstawiono koncepcję i metody kondycjonowania gazów.

The paper presents the results of tests carried out on two spark-ignition engines: 1.4BZ 90CV CD and 1.4BZ 120CV CD installed in new Fiat Bravo (model 198, version 54A) motor cars. The latter engine model (120CV) was equipped with a supercharging system. The research consisted in comparing engine vibrations measured in specific and representative points. In order to determine the vertical component vibrations, the measurements were performed via a mirror. A PSV-400 laser Doppler vibrometer made by Polytec was used to measure vibration velocities. The vibrometric system directly measures two quantities: displacement and velocity. In the investigated case, vibration velocity is the variable which supplies better diagnostic information. Vibrations were measured for the car standing on its wheels and for the car jacked up to reduce the influence of the car vibration damping systems on the measurement results. The latter are presented in the form of comparative diagrams. Moreover, the fast Fourier transform was used to determine the frequency distribution. Prior to that signal was subjected to conditioning operations using parametric windowing and filtering. Interesting conclusions emerge from the obtained results and on their basis the effect of the drive unit on the behaviour of the car body can be assessed for different engine types and rotational speeds. It is shown that the way in which the engine is mounted affects the vibrations of the car.

Opis:
Vibrations are most often measured using ceramic piezoelectric sensors - accelerometers. The accelerometer uses a piezoelectric effect to measure the dynamic acceleration of its housing. They are mounted directly on the measuring system (moving or rotating, such as gearboxes, rotating blades, turbine engines or bearings). This is not their only use, because they can also be used in shock measurements, such as NCAP in the field of automotive safety or diagnostics (unfortunately they have lower accuracy than low-frequency LDV). The main advantage of using a piezoelectric accelerometer is its linearity in a wide range frequency and a huge range of work dynamics. Engine vibration measurements are usually made at different points of the engine to be independent of each other. The engine block is a characteristic measuring point because it is best available. Accelerometers are assembled by glue, screwing or magnetic connection. The obtained vibroacoustic signal is most often analyzed using Fourier analysis. The following article presents another possibility of on-line analysis: short-term wavelet analysis "on-line".
Wibracje są najczęściej mierzone za pomocą ceramicznych czujników piezoelektrycznych - akcelerometrów. Akcelerometr wykorzystuje efekt piezoelektryczny do pomiaru dynamicznego przyspieszenia jego obudowy. Są to przetworniki montowane bezpośrednio na układzie mierzonym (poruszającym się lub obracających, takich jak skrzynie biegów, wirujące łopaty, silniki turbinowe lub łożyska). To nie jest ich jedyne zastosowanie, ponieważ można je również stosować w pomiarach wstrząsów, takich jak NCAP w zakresie bezpieczeństwa w motoryzacji lub w diagnostyce (niestety mają mniejszą dokładność niż LDV w przypadku niskich częstotliwości) Główną zaletą zastosowania akcelerometru piezoelektrycznego jest jego liniowość w szerokim zakresie częstotliwości i ogromny zakres dynamiki pracy. Pomiary wibracji silnika są zwykle wykonywane w różnych punktach silnika, aby były niezależne od siebie. Charakterystycznym punktem pomiarowym jest blok silnika, ponieważ jest najlepiej dostępny. Akcelerometry montuje się poprzez klej, przykręcenie bądź połączenie magnetyczne. Otrzymany sygnał wibroakustyczny jest najczęściej analizowany z wykorzystaniem analizy Fouriera.
