    Although currently pole dancing is growing in popularity due to its sport dimension, it seems that such a form of expression is still commonly associated with strip clubs and connotes above all the erotic performance of a woman in front of a male audience. And yet, as one can find by frequenting dance studios that teach pole dancing, it is practiced not only by women, but also by men and children. Thus keeping in mind the ambiguity that arises at the intersection of competing optics in decoding the pole dance-with regard to “perpetuate interpretation logic” and the everyday experience of people undertaking the activity-the aim of this paper is to reflect on the issue of constructing and interpreting the meanings of actions and processes within the context of pole dancing. These processes can be seen as a reflection of the everyday life in which they occur.

    L’objectif du présent article est de démontrer que malgré le pessimisme apparent de la narration, témoignant d’une société en crise, les récits de Michel Houellebecq fournissent également des indications précieuses quant à la manière dont ces crises peuvent être surmontées, ce qui les situe parmi les ouvrages littéraires dits « réparateurs ». L’analyse des origines et des enjeux de la crise sociétale ainsi que de la manière dont celle-ci résonne dans l’univers houellebecquien constitue la première partie de l’étude et le point de départ de réflexions sur le rôle de la poétique du désordre dans la réconciliation avec soi-même et avec le monde. Les dispositifs assurant une meilleure gestion des phases critiques – l’empathie, l’ironie, l’humour – sont bien présents chez l’écrivain. L’examen d’extraits de deux de ses romans, La Possibilité d’une île (2005) et Sérotonine (2019), permettra de mieux comprendre comment y sont exploitées les possibilités qu’offrent ces outils.
    The aim of the article is to show that despite the apparent pessimism of the narration, reflecting the society in crisis, Michel Houellebecq’s narratives also provide valuable insights into how these crises can be overcome, which places them among the so-called “repairing” literary works. The analysis of the origins as well as of the stakes of the societal crisis and the way in which it resonates in the Houellebecquien universe constitutes the first part of the study and the starting point for a reflection on the role of the poetics of disorder in the reconciliation with oneself and with the world. The dispositions ensuring a better management of the critical phases – empathy, irony, humor – are present in Houellebecq’s works. A review of excerpts of two of his novels: The Possibility of an Island (2005) and Serotonin (2019) will provide us with a better understanding of how the possibilities offered by these tools are exploited by the author in his works.

    The purpose of this article is to investigate the diary genre as used in Evgeny Vodolazkin’s novel The Aviator. The author of the paper attempts to describe and emphasize the innovativeness of Vodolazkin’s approach, as compared with the main classic features interpreted in the light of Elena Bogdanova’s article entitled ‘Language features of the diary genre’ (2008) which brings a classification thereof.
    Целью настоящей статьи является представление творчества современного и самого популярного русского писателя Евгения Германовича Водолазкина в романе Авиатор, написанном в форме дневника. В статье представлен новаторский подход автора к жанру дневника, который сопоставлен с классической классификацией Елены Богдановой в ее научной статье Языковые особенности жанра дневника (2008).

    Since the beginning of time art-making has been a tool to express, preserve, and challenge the extant knowledge in society. Artists do this by finding or creatively constructing new understandings in society. An artist is able to do this through the medium he/she uses to relay the message of the artwork. The medium that an artist uses to express his/her artistic concept has an impact on the character that the artwork will take. The medium of expression forms but one of the many considerations that go through an artist’s mind when creating art. In the process of art-making, an artist seeks to create new meanings or re-imagine old ones by organizing materials and concepts. In so doing, he/she discovers novel ways to get ideas across, and thereby creates new interpretations of social phenomena. In this article, attention is given to meaning-making as a conscious and iterative component of creating art. From a series of in-depth interviews, the authors analyze the inward processes that occur within six artists’ creative praxes and how these lead their construction of meaning. Attention is also paid to how the artists manipulate concepts and how they construct and deconstruct their understandings of these concepts in the course of their creative endeavors.

    A major objective of this article is to analyze how escort agencies’ female workers experience their body within the professional context. It represents the analytical attempt to reconstruct their way of perceiving and understanding the body that at the time of professional interaction in progress is considered a theatrical costume, which facilitates performing the prostitute’s role. The body that is experienced as an object, which requires constant reshaping, adjusting to working conditions, might get damaged, and worn out. The body that in the aftermath of internalizing new techniques of impression management starts being perceived as a working tool and enables, thus, the construction of new interpretative frames for the understanding of typical professional interactions and one’s professional role. Finally, the body that is abstracted away from one’s intimacy, experienced as an interactional partner mediating escort’s professional interactions with her clients.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przyjrzenie się codziennemu życiu par jednopłciowych wspólnie wychowujących dziecko poczęte w ramach związku z perspektywy matki niebiologicznej, która w świetle prawa polskiego jest osobą obcą zarówno dla swojej partnerki, jak i ich potomka. Akcent położono na kwestię możliwych następstw doświadczania braku „gotowych” skryptów roli ‒ sprzężonego ze zinternalizowaną heteronormatywnością ‒ z których badane mogłyby skorzystać, budując strategie funkcjonowania w przestrzeni publicznej. Sposób, w jaki kobiety rozumieją siebie w sytuacji działania w ramach konceptualnej niewidzialności i niesprzyjających warunków społeczno-kulturowych, wyznacza tu szerszą ramę analityczną konstruowania przez nie koncepcji interakcyjnych i doświadczeń macierzyństwa. Istotną sprawę stanowi w tym kontekście zagadnienie rozumienia określonych strategii funkcjonowania w przestrzeni publicznej ‒ uwidaczniania siebie oraz funkcjonowania na zasadach pozornej niewidzialności ‒ bowiem, choć nakierowane są one na ochronę przed antycypowaną przemocą symboliczną, niektóre z podporządkowanych temu celowi działań mogą w istocie przyczynić się do nieintencjonalnego podtrzymywania norm uważanych przez badane za krzywdzące.
    The aim of this article is to analyze—through the eyes of non-biological lesbian mothers who, according to Polish law, are related to neither their partners nor children—the everyday life of same-sex couples raising a child conceived within the relationship at hand. It has been emphasized how women under study experience the conceptual non-existence of “ready-made” role scripts—coupled with internalized heteronormativity—they cannot refer to while constructing acting strategies to be displayed in public sphere, and possible results thereof. The way women under study see themselves within the context of acting under unfavorable socio-cultural climate and conceptual invisibility outlines the broader analytical framework of how they build interactional concepts, as well as the experiences of motherhood. It is thus important to elucidate how they understand certain acting strategies they engage in public sphere—i.e., demonstrating and acting on a false invisibility basis—since, notwithstanding these are aimed at protecting them from anticipated symbolic violence, engaging in some actions conceptually corresponding to such goal may in fact—unintentionally—impact upon maintaining the norms they find unfair.

    W artykule podjęto próbę zrekonstruowania procesualnego wymiaru nadawania przez kobiety wspólnie wychowujące dziecko poczęte w rodzinie jednopłciowej znaczeń nowym wzorom funkcjonowania w społeczeństwie heternormatywnym, które wyznaczają szerszy kontekst antycypowania oraz doświadczania przez nie rodzicielstwa. W tekście oddałam głos badanym – matkom biologicznym i niebiologicznym – by to właśnie z ich perspektywy przyjrzeć się, jak działając w kontekście zinternalizowanej heteronormatywności, radzą sobie w sytuacji konfrontacji z różnymi ograniczeniami, negocjując sens własnych działań oraz poczucie „normalności” i adekwatności społecznej. Przedstawione bariery (jednostkowe, instytucjonalne, prawne czy społeczno-kulturowe), jakich doświadczają rodzice tej samej płci, są przez badanych rozpatrywane na płaszczyźnie symbolicznej jako element nierównego traktowania, który wpisuje ich w kategorię „dewiantów”, nie pozostając bez wpływu na postrzeganie siebie w szerszym kontekście społecznym. Nakreślone powyżej problemy wpisują się w szerszy projekt badawczy, poświęcony problematyce doświadczania rodzicielstwa przez osoby LGBT w Polsce, który realizowany jest w tradycji badań jakościowych z wykorzystaniem techniki pogłębionego wywiadu swobodnego.
    This article is an attempt to reconstruct the process of ascribing meanings to new ways of functioning within the heteronormative society, meanings which determine the broader context of anticipating and experiencing parenthood, from the perspective of women whose child has been conceived within the frame of same-sex family. Drawing on in-depth interview data, it is intended to shed light on how these women - biological and non-biological mothers - push the negative barriers and choose to become parents. The barriers at hand (individual, institutional, legal, socio-cultural) are seen by the women under study in terms of symbolic unequal treatment what impacts upon the way they negotiate their sense of “normality” and social adequateness while functioning within the context of internalized heteronormativity. A major objective of this contribution is to elucidate how the internalized heteronormativity impact upon the everyday life of lesbian-mother families destabilizing their sense of social adequateness, on the one hand, and empowering them to push the boundaries of social acceptance, on the other. The above issues are part of a broader research project focused on the analysis of parenting experiences of LGBT community in Poland.
