Opis:
Multiple core processors have already became the dominant design for general purpose CPUs. Incarnations of this technology are present in solutions dedicated to such areas like computer graphics, signal processing and also computer networking. Since the key functionality of network core components is fast package servicing, multicore technology, due to multi tasking ability, seems useful to support packet processing. Dedicated network processors characterize very good performance but at the same time high cost. General purpose CPUs achieve incredible performance, thanks to task distribution along several available cores and relatively low cost. The idea, analyzed in this paper, is to use general purpose CPU to provide network core functionality. For this purpose parameterized system model has been created, which represents general core networking needs. This model analyze system parameters influence on system performance.

Applying the classical chi-square fitting procedure for multiparameter systems is in some cases extremely difficult due to the lack of an analytical expression for the theoretical functions describing the system. This paper presents an analysis procedure for experimental data using theoretical functions generated by Monte Carlo method, each corresponding to definite values of the minimization parameters. It was applied for the E742 experiment (TRIUMF, Vancouver, Canada) data analysis with the aim to analyze data from Muon Catalyzed Fusion experiments (extraction muonic atom scattering parameters and parameters of pd fusion in pdµ molecule).
Zastosowanie klasycznej procedury fitowania przy użyciu estymatora chi-kwadrat jest w pewnych przypadkach bardzo trudne z powodu braku analitycznych wyrażeń na teoretyczne funkcje opisujące system. W pracy zaprezentowano procedurę analizy danych eksperymentalnych przy użyciu teoretycznych funkcji generowanych metodą Monte Carlo, odpowiadających zdefiniowanym wartościom szukanych parametrów. Analiza została zastosowana dla eksperymentu E742 (TRIUMF, Vancouver, Kanada) w celu opisu danych pochodzących z syntezy jądrowej katalizowanej mionami (uzyskanie parametrów opisujących rozpraszanie atomów mionowych i parametrów syntezy pd w molekule pdµ).

In case of maritime communications, we observe a growing interest in deployment of multitask satellite-based solutions and development of new maritime-specific systems intended for improvements in safety of e-navigation. Analysis of different types of currently used maritime communication systems leads, however, to a conclusion that neither global and still very expensive satellite systems nor cheaper, but short-ranged transmission technologies can, on their own, fully meet the today’s expectations and quality requirements formulated for broadband maritime systems. This lack of reliable solutions, offering high throughput and ubiquitous availability of coverage to a wide audience at a relatively low price is one of the main barriers in a widespread implementation of e-navigation initiatives. This issue is addressed in the netBaltic project with the objective to design, deploy and validate in a real maritime environment a non-satellite wireless communication system enabling ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore information exchange via a multi-hop network composed of onshore base stations, maritime vessels and other transit elements such as buoys. In this paper, the idea of a heterogeneous wireless maritime system is presented. Details of the proposed netBaltic node architecture are described highlighting the solutions introduced in the project as a response to specific maritime communication requirements. Numerical results of communication area coverage are presented for four different scenarios utilizing different wireless transmission technologies. In particular, they indicate that when using appropriate wireless communication solutions, the number of vessels being able to connect to Internet is significantly increased as compared to traditional wireless systems (capable of one-hop communication) from 14% for short-range transmission technologies up to as high as 127% in case when relatively long-range transmission technologies are employed within the system.

A specialized database and a software tool for graphical and numerical presentation of maritime measurement results has been designed and implemented as part of the research conducted under the netBaltic project (Internet over the Baltic Sea – the implementation of a multi-system, self-organizing broadband communications network over the sea for enhancing navigation safety through the development of e-navigation services.) The developed software allows tracing graphs of radio-connections between shore stations and vessels (offshore units), based on historical data including the traffic of ships and their specific parameters collected on the Baltic Sea during the last four years. It also enables preparation of data for network simulation experiments using AIS (Automatic Identification of Ships) and GPS (Global Positioning System) loggers installed on shore stations and vessels, taking into account a number of input parameters, such as: time range, coast station selection, ship flags based on MMSI numbers and types and ranges of possible communication technologies used (WiFi, WiMax, Radwin, LTE,etc.). The created tool has a multi-layer architecture that utilizes the Maria DB SQL database, the Apache2 WEB server, and a number of PHP applications. The runtime environment has been built on Linux Debian version 8 and the HP C7000 cluster of the 16 CPU x86_64 architecture. The modularity of the application allows parallel processing and, therefore, optimization of the computing cluster. The database contains more than 70 million records which enables simulation of various topologies (with multi-hop transmissions) and network operations depending on the transmission techniques being used. The database is fully scalable, and allows easy adding of further data collected during subsequent measurement sessions. Additionally, the use of virtualization tools facilitates the future migration to more efficient processing environments, in case of a significant increase in the volume of data. The data recorded in the database allows calculation of statistics for the surveyed networks, and determining the incidence of potential network nodes (e.g. by flag) complete with their available communication techniques – information which is important in determining structures of possible multi-hop networks and their performance. The software finds routes for datagrams according to accepted criteria and exports results to a network traffic simulator, and as such is an important part of the framework used for planning next measurement campaigns and determining which communications equipment would be more suitable for vessels.

In the paper the results of measurement of the most popular aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene and xylenes) in the exhaust of spark ignition engine before and after three-way catalytic reactor were presented. The investigations have been conducted at fixed rotational speed, 2500 rpm and at a few different values of torque in range 0 – 80 Nm, every 10 Nm. Based on obtained results, the calculations of catalytic reactor efficiency in removing analysed components have been made. The measurements showed high efficiency of the catalytic converter in reduction of that pollutants in exhaust gases.

Nowadays, with the current dynamic development of the automotive industry, we spend more and more time indoors, including in vehicles. The air used for ventilation of the vehicle's cabin comes from the outside. Pollution enters into the vehicle. This research presents the results of tests conducted to assess the exposure of the driver and passengers to volatile organic compounds entering the vehicle with atmospheric air. The simulation researches were conducted on a chassis dynamometer at the Department of Vehicle Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technical University of Wroclaw and the tests under real conditions, i.e. traffic urban conditions, were taken as well. The measurements were conducted in the centre of Wroclaw during peak hours, when the traffic jam is the most frequent. The measurements were taken in order to organic compounds analysis, which includes gas chromatography. The analysis results were averaged from three measurements to get these studies more reliable. Results show that during mobile tests the vehicle was exposed to much more pollution than in the stationary tests in the simulated conditions of traffic congestion. Therefore, the studies present that the pollution in the traffic congestion is the real danger to drivers.

The main aim of this work was to study the effect of time and method of Al, SiC powders mixing on the microstructure and mechanical properties of composites. Moreover, the influence of applicating direct extrusion with a reversibly rotating die on the homogeneity of the composites was examined. Microstructure observations with the use of an optical microscope and scanning electron microscope were applied. A quantitative analysis of composite microstructure was conducted. The density (helium pycnometer method), Vickers hardness and the Young’s Modulus of the composites were also determined. The results show that the homogeneity of Al/SiC composites rises with an increase of mixing time. However, better results were obtained by application of high energy ball milling process.
Głównym celem pracy było zbadanie wpływu czasu i metody mieszania proszków Al, SiC na strukture i własności mechaniczne kompozytu. Ponadto, zbadano wpływ metody ekstruzji z rewersyjnie rotującą matrycą na jednorodność otrzymanych kompozytów. Obserwacje mikrostruktury wykonano przy użyciu mikroskopii optycznej i elektronowej. Na otrzymanych zdjęciach przeprowadzono ilościową analizę mikrostruktury. Gęstość kompozytów zbadano za pomocą piknometru helowego. Dodatkowo wyznaczono twardość Vickersa i modułu Younga wytworzonych materiałów. Wyniki wykazują, ze jednorodność Al/SiC kompozytów wzrasta ze wzrostem czasu mieszania. Jednakże, lepsze wyniki uzyskano w przypadku materiałów, które homogenizowano przy użyciu mieszania wysokoenergetycznego.

In large cities the number of inhabitants constantly increases. It is caused by economic issues. The evergrowing populations causes more intense traffic and in consequence increase of air pollutions. Topology and roads configuration is conducive to the accumulation of toxic substances. Harmful substances accumulates inside the vehicles interiors which significantly deteriorate microclimate within the cabin. The study aimed to determine the amount of harmful substances getting into the interior of vehicles and their distribution have been presented in this paper.

Opis:
Replacing the IPv4 protocol with IPv6 on the Internet is currently one of the aims of the European Union policy. The main reason for this replacement is the effeteness of the addresses pool in the IPv4 protocol, which can cause serious complications in the evolution of the Internet and its adaptation in new areas, e.g., in next generation mobile telephony or the so called Internet of Things. Simultaneously, the addressing capabilities of the IPv6 protocol are practically unlimited and its new functionalities increase the attractiveness of its usage. The article discusses the problems connected with the IPv6 deployment on the Internet. Especially, the rules for realization of the IPv6 deployment and rules for cooperation of IPv4 with IPv6 (including cooperation tests) in network infrastructure and in applications are presented. Moreover, the European projects' results and the activity's directions of the national project Future Internet Engineering are discussed.
