    This article examines one of the greatest contributions of Józef Tischner to the area of anthropology and charitology by analyzing, in a systematical way, his original thought regarding the relationship between the pagan concept of fate (fatum) and the Christian concept of grace (charis). The originality of this contribution concerns three main areas. The first one concerns the historical-charitological aspect in which Tischner proposes a new approach which helps him to emphasize the personalistic aspect of grace. Instead of considering the problem form a typical intra-Christian perspective, he approaches the concept of grace by confronting it with the historical, pagan concept of impersonal fate. Secondly, he brings to the light an ancient Greek idea of the aesthetic overcoming of the tragic defeat caused by fate, and by showing its insufficiency, he discovers and demonstrates the depth, beauty and hidden ultimate power of the aesthetic dimension of Christian grace. Finally, he argues that the problem of the relationship between fate and grace is not an issue of the ancient past, but constitutes the core of one of the greatest contemporary challenges faced by modern Christian society: the ever growing wave of neopaganism.

    In this article, we consider the problem of the equivalence of transcendentals: beauty, truth and good, in the perspective of two great thinkers of the twentieth century: H. U. von Balthasar and J. Tischner. Based on the confrontation of their reflections, we introduce the concept of the paradox of the “strugle of transcendentals” and we analyze the philosophical positions they occupy in this matter. The obtained research results, concerning all transcendentals, are then concretized on the agathological ground, where the similarities and differences in views of both authors are apparent. A common ground for Balthasar and Tischner consists in the recognition of good as a fundamental transcendentale in the development of (theo)dramatic reflection. The basic difference is revealed in their perception of the relation of good to other transcendentals. Tischner is in favor of the absolute primacy of good among all transcendentals, while Balthasar admits only a relative primacy in this case. In the final section of the work we indicate some shortcomings of both approaches and we propose a soteriological-anthropological example illustrating the validity of tischnerian approach.
    W niniejszym artykule rozpatrujemy problem równoważności transcendentaliów: piękna, prawdy i dobra, w ujęciu dwóch znakomitych myślicieli XX wieku: H. U. von Balthasara i J. Tischnera. Opierając się na konfrontacji ich refleksji, wprowadzamy pojęcie paradoksu „walki transcendentaliów” i analizujemy stanowiska filozoficzne, jakie zajmują oni wobec tego zagadnienia. Uzyskane wyniki badań, dotyczące ogółu transcendentaliów, konkretyzujemy następnie na gruncie agatologicznym, na którym najwyraźniej zarysowują się podobieństwa i różnice w poglądach obu autorów. Wspólną płaszczyzną dla Balthasara i Tischnera okazuje się być uznanie dobra jako transcendentale fundamentalnego dla rozwijania refleksji (teo)dramatycznej. Podstawowa różnica ujawnia się w ich postrzeganiu relacji dobra do pozostałych transcendentaliów. Tischner opowiada się za absolutnym prymatem dobra wśród transcendentaliów, Balthasar dopuszcza w tym przypadku jedynie prymat relatywny. W końcowej sekcji pracy zwracamy uwagę na pewne mankamenty obu podejść i proponujemy soteriologiczno-antropologiczny przykład ilustrujący zasadność podejścia Tischnerowskiego.

    In quest’articolo, presentiamo l’approccio contemporaneo alla comprensione teologica del concetto di persona, formatosi nella corrente del pensiero teodrammatico, rappresentato da H. U. von Balthasar e da J. Tischner. Descriviamo gli aspetti fondamentali antropologici (agatologici–dialogici) e teologici (cristologici– trinitari) caratteristici degli approcci di entrambi gli autori. Prestiamo attenzione particolare ai contributi originali di Balthasar e di Tischner al problema preso in esame, soprattutto per quanto riguarda l’uso della terminologia teatrologica nelle considerazioni riguardanti la descrizione teologica del concetto di persona. L’asse dell’analisi la costituisce il paragone tra due teatrologiche–teologiche analogie chiave, riguardante la nozione di persona introdotte dagli autori su menzionati e concernente, rispettivamente, il rapporto ruolo-missione (Balthasar) e quello di maschera-volto (Tischner).
    In this article we present the contemporary approach to the theological understanding of the concept of person according to the theodramatical current of thought represented by H. U. von Balthasar and J. Tischner. We describe the basic anthropological (agathological–dialogical) and teological (christological– trinitological) aspects characteristic for the approach of both authors. We pay a particular attention to the original contribution of Balthasar and Tischner in the analyzed problem, especially as far as the application of theatrological terminology to the considerations regarding the theological notion of person is concerned. The axis of the analysis is the comparison of the two key theatrological–theological analogies regarding the notion of person introduced by the above mentioned authors concerning respectively the relation role–mission (Balthasar) and mask–face (Tischner).

    The article examines the question of the Mariological interpretation of the eight beatitudes contained in Matt 5:3–10. Christian theologians of all ages, from Clement of Alexandria to the authors of contemporary biblical commentaries, have proposed various interpretations of this biblical text. Among the multitude of interpretations developed throughout history, the Mariological aspect appears quite rarely. Yet, as Pope Benedict XVI observes, the very biblical Marian title “Blessed” should direct the theological thought to the Mariological aspects of this issue. In modern times, a very deep reflection on the subject was conducted by two great theologians of the XX century, J. Ratzinger (Benedict XVI) and H.U. von Balthasar. On the Polish ground, the task was partly undertaken by J. Tischner, who elaborated the theme of eight beatitudes in the key of the Marian pilgrimage of the nation. The present work is meant to deepen the Mariological-biblical analysis of the eight beatitudes and revive the discussion regarding this subject in the perspective proposed by Benedict XVI, to understand the beatitudes as a program of life for a modern Christian.

    W niniejszym artykule podejmujemy problem niezależności myśli dramatycznej Józefa Tischnera oraz refleksji teodramatycznej Hansa Ursa von Balthasara. Wykazujemy, iż obaj autorzy, pomimo zbliżonego podejścia ogólnego i pewnych podobieństw w niektórych aspektach szczegółowych, rozwijają swą myśl (teo)dramatyczną niezależnie od siebie. W przypadku Balthasara można mówić o całkowitej niezależności od Tischnera. W przypadku Tischnera analizujemy przykłady formalnej zależności jego tekstów od Balthasara (cytowanie grzecznościowe, zapożyczenia terminologiczne) i wykazujemy, iż zależność ta ma charakter czysto marginalny i dotyczy jedynie ostatnich dwóch lat jego życia. We wniosku formułujemy więc tezę o „nieprzyczynowej równoczesności” dotyczącą wkładu obu autorów w rozwój tzw. nurtu dramatycznego, nawiązując w ten sposób do analogicznego zjawiska, o którym pisał sam Balthasar w kontekście prekursorów nurtu dialogicznego.
    In this article we address the problem of the independence of the dramatic thought of J. Tischner and theodramatic reflection of H. U. von. Balthasar. We show that both authors, despite some resemblance in general approach and certain similarities in some specific aspects, develop their (theo)dramatic thought independently from each other. In case of Balthasar, one can talk about total independence from Tischner. In case of Tischner, we analyze the examples of formal dependence of his texts on Balthasar (courtesy citing, terminological borrowings) and we show that this dependence has a purely marginal character and concerns only the last two years of his life. As a corollary we formulate a thesis about „non-causal simultaneity” regarding the contribution of both authors to the development of the so-called dramatic current, referring this way to the analogical phenomenon that Balthasar himself discussed in the context of the precursors of the dialogical current.

    Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje problematykę wpływu myśli Balthasara na dynamikę refleksji Tischnera w zakresie problematyki intratrynitarnej wolności Boga i związanych z tą tematyką konsekwencji dla wolności człowieka. Dzięki zastosowaniu analizy porównawczej myśli obu autorów i uwzględnieniu chronologii ich publikacji, ustalone zostają konkretne ramy czasowe i konkretne przesłanki merytoryczne wpływające na istotne zmiany w postrzeganiu problematyki wolności Boga przez Tischnera. Dogłębnie przeanalizowana jest również Tischnerowska interpretacja Balthasarowych pojęć wolności nieskończonej i wolności skończonej. Wykazane są zarówno zbieżności, jak i istotne różnice w podejściach obu autorów, zwłaszcza w kontekście ontologicznego i agatologicznego ujęcia tej tematyki. Całość badań zamyka analiza zgodnie przeprowadzonej przez obu autorów apologii chrześcijańskiej wizji wolności człowieka, wynikającej z wolności Boga i zanurzonej w niej, wobec oświeceniowo-ateistycznego modelu zabsolutyzowanej wolności ludzkiej, w której właśnie ze względu na brak relacji z Bogiem wolność ulega stopniowej degradacji i w konsekwencji unicestwieniu.
    The article examines the problem of the influence of Balthasar’s thought on the dynamics of Tischner’s reflection on the issue of the intratrinitarian freedom of God and the consequences for human freedom related to this subject. Using the method of comparative analysis of the contribution of both authors and taking into account the chronology of their publications, specific time frames and specific substantive premises are established that affected significant changes in Tischner's perception of the issue of God’s freedom. Tischner’s interpretation of Balthasar's concepts of infinite and finite freedom is also thoroughly analyzed. Both similarities and significant differences in the approaches of both authors are shown, especially in the context of the ontological and agathological approach to this subject. The work is concluded with an analysis of the apology, carried out consistently by both authors, of Christian vision of human freedom, originating and immersed in the freedom of God, in the confrontation with the Enlightenment-atheistic model of absolutized human freedom, in which, exactly due to the lack of the relationship with God, freedom gradually deteriorates and consequently undergoes annihilation.

    Artykuł podejmuje kwestię mariologicznej interpretacji ośmiu błogosławieństw zawartych w Mt 5,3-10. Różnorodnych interpretacji tego biblijnego tekstu podejmowali się teolodzy chrześcijańscy wszystkich epok od Klemensa Aleksandryjskiego po autorów współczesnych komentarzy biblijnych. Wobec mnogości rozpatrywanych na przestrzeni dziejów interpretacji aspekt mariologiczny pojawia się dość rzadko. Tymczasem, jak zauważa papież Benedykt XVI, już sam biblijny tytuł maryjny „Błogosławiona” powinien wyraźnie nakierowywać myśl teologiczną na mariologiczne aspekty tego zagadnienia. W czasach współczesnych bardzo głęboką refleksję w tym zakresie prowadzili dwaj wielcy teologowie XX w., J. Ratzinger (Benedykt XVI) i H.U. von Balthasar. Na gruncie polskim zadanie to częściowo podjął J. Tischner, opracowując temat ośmiu błogosławieństw w kluczu maryjnej pielgrzymki narodu. Niniejsza praca pragnie pogłębić mariologiczno-biblijną analizę ośmiu błogosławieństw i ożywić dyskusję dotyczącą tej tematyki w zaproponowanym przez Benedykta XVI kluczu rozumienia błogosławieństw jako programu życia współczesnego chrześcijanina.
