    Focus of the study was on the economic importance of intermediate harvest regulation. Analysis of the research material concerned mainly the ratio of the intermediate harvest to the expected 50% ten−year current volume increment. Study was realised in Scots pine stands in 337 forest districts all over Poland.

    Opis:
    In the present paper analyzed are results of standing volume assessment as dependent on the method of calculation applied; the calculations were done with utilization of algorithms used in the operational forestry: the TAKSATOR and the ACER packages. The results obtained show that the use of the forest division based TAKSATOR method leads to lower estimate as compared with the output of the quality control inspection assessment ACER.

    Prowadzone badania mają na celu poznanie wpływu winylo-funkcyjnych polisiloksanów o różnej strukturze na palność wypełniacza lignocelulozowego oraz przygotowanego kompozytu. W roli wypełniacza zastosowano włókno lniane, które zmodyfikowano polisiloksanami winylo-funkcyjnymi. Matrycę przygotowanych kompozytów stanowił polietylen (PE). Kompozyty przygotowano na wytłaczarce laboratoryjnej, a następnie zbadano ich palność przy użyciu mikrokalorymetru pirolizy i spalania (PCFC) oraz kalorymetru stożkowego.
    The studies are designed to investigate the effect of various structured vinyl-functional polysiloxanes on the flammability of lignocellulosic filler and prepared composite. In the role of the filler was used flax fibre which has been modified with vinyl-functional polysiloxanes. The matrix of prepared composites was polyethylene (PE). The composites were prepared on a laboratory mixing extruder and then tested for flammability using pyrolysis and combustion flow calorimeter (PCFC) and cone calorimeter.

    Opis:
    The aim of the study was to compare the content of some chemical substances in a bark of about 3−year−old fast−growing poplars Populus deltoides × maximowiczii and Populus trichocarpa with literature data on the chemical composition of a bark of older deciduous trees. The Populus deltoides × maximowiczii and Populus trichocarpa material were obtained from the Wolica experimental field belonging to the Institute of Biology, Department of Genetics, Plant Breeding and Biotechnology at Warsaw University of Life Sciences. Using the standard laboratory procedures, the chemical composition of the bark was examined, i.e. the content of extractives and mineral substances, cellulose, lignin and the content of soluble substances in 1% NaOH. The cellulose content in the bark of the 3−year−old poplars tested was higher by from 10 to 23% in relation to its content in the bark of older trees. Whereas, the content of lignin in the bark of the 3−year−old poplars was lower by from 10 to 20% compared to its content in the bark of other older trees. It was found that based on the data obtained, it is difficult to clearly determine which of the generally accepted factors affect the content of mineral substances and substances soluble in 1% NaOH in the bark. However, the content of extractives soluble in a mixture of ethanol and benzene (1:1) w/w, chloroform and ethanol (93:7) w/w as well as cellulose and lignin in the bark depends on the species, age, habitat conditions of the trees and the height of the trunk from which the samples were collected.

    The article present the results of the study on the improvement of mechanical properties of the surface layer of 7075 aluminum alloy via two-stage aging combined with shot peening. The experiments proved that thermo-mechanical treatment may significantly improve hardness and stress distribution in the surface layer. Compressive stresses of 226 MPa±5.5 MPa and hardness of 210±2 HV were obtained for selected samples.
    W ramach niniejszego artykułu przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczące poprawy właściwości mechanicznych warstwy wierzchniej w stopie aluminium 7075 poprzez kombinacje starzenia dwuetapowego i kulowania. Dowiedziono w ramach prowadzonych badań, że istnieje możliwość znacznego poprawienia twardości oraz rozkładu naprężeń w warstwie wierzchniej stosując obróbkę cieplno-plastyczną. Dla wybranych próbek uzyskiwano naprężenia ściskające na poziomie 226MPa±5,5 MPa oraz twardość rzędu 210±2 HV.
