- The authors discuss the whole of toxoplasmosis problems in Poland up to 1960. The investigations on toxoplasmosis in Poland were inaugurated by Kozar at the end of 1950 in Gdańsk. Hitherto about 100 casuistic cases of congenital and acquired toxoplasmosis in man were described in Poland, and epidemiological and immunobiological mass investigations carried out in some parts of Poland, in various environments of healthy people and clinical groups. A number of experimental investigations were also carried out, viz. in the field of epidemiology, immunology, pathogenesis etc. At present 6 centres (Wrocław, Gdańsk, Warsaw, Cracow, Lublin and Katowice) are working on toxoplasmosis problems. In the name of the Parasitological Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Parasitological Society Kozar was elected as president of the Polish Commission for Toxoplasmosis Affairs.
