Opis:: The article examines possible links between the ritual of bitter water, described in Numbers 5:11–31, and one of the aspects of the plague, described as the event following the third trumpet in the Book of Revelation (Rev 8:11). Such a connection has not been analysed by scholars so far. The ritual described in Numbers 5 not only has a legal meaning but it is also the starting point for a theological tradition of understanding adultery as a metaphor for Israel’s unfaithfulness to YHWH. The prophetic texts of the OT use motifs taken from Num 5 to depict the lawsuit that YHWH brings against the unfaithful people. According to the author of this article, the use of the motif of drinking bitter water in Rev 8:11 falls into a similar pattern. This is a ritual performed to reveal the guilt of the sinners described in Rev as hoi anthrōpoi.

Opis:: The Article discusses the issue of God as the Lord of the history of the world and the people in the Book of Revelation. It consists of two main parts. In the first part, main titles have been presented, by which God was defined in the Book of Revelation. These titles are: „The One, Who is and Who was and Who is to come”, „the Alpha and the Omega”, „The Beginning and the End”, „Lord Holy and True” (The Sovereign), „Pantokrator” (The Almighty), „The sitting on the throne”. The old testament sources of these titles show, that the main idea, that the Author had, was the desire to present God working in an active way in the history of the World. In the second part of the article, the activities of God as the Lord of the history have been analyzed. There are: the creation, which authorizes God’s ruling, the judgment in its negative aspect (seen as the punishment of the unfaithful) and in its positive aspect (seen as the reward for the faithful).

Opis:: Prezentowany artykuł stawia pytanie o aktualność mariologicznej interpretacji postaci Kobiety z Ap 12. W artykule wykazano, że mariologiczne rozumienie Ap 12 wynika wprost z samego tekstu biblijnego. Nie jest to jednak jedyne rozumienie, jakie można dostrzec w tym fragmencie. Postać Kobiety może być także interpretowana kolektywnie – jako figura Izraela, ludu wybranego ST, która daje światu Mesjasza, a następnie schodzi ze sceny historii zbawienia. Kobieta w Ap 12 pełni podwójną rolę. W aspekcie zbiorowym uosabia ona lud Izraela oczekujący na Mesjasza. W aspekcie indywidualnym, który jest podporządkowany zbiorowemu, mamy tu odwołanie do postaci Maryi.
The presented article raises a question concerning the relevance of the Mariological interpretation of the figure of “Woman” in Rev 12. The research showed that the Mariological understanding of Rev 12 results directly from the biblical text itself. However, this is not the only possible understanding of this passage. The figure of “Woman” can also be interpreted collectively – as a figure of Israel, the chosen people of the OT, who brings forth the Messiah to the world and then leaves the scene of salvation history. The “Woman” in Revelation 12 plays a dual role. Collectively, she represents the people of Israel waiting for the Messiah. In the individual aspect, which is subordinate to the collective one, there is here a reference to the figure of Mary.
