Opis:: Thanks to the collection of important information for the history and geography of words in the Polish language from all types of dictionaries, records and, in particular, hardly available sources quoted there, I have managed to establish the development of a Ukrainian borrowing hreczuszki in the Polish language into racuszki and the formation of a form racuchy.

Opis:: The text discusses words occurring in the Polish-East Slavic borderlands and prevalent in eastern Polish dialects. Differntiation between old references and loans in this area is not always easy. The material presented here is very diverse. In the case of certain words, identifying them as East Slavic loans with an indisputable source is possible, while in the case of others it is diffi cult to identify the direct source of the loan. Among the words recorded in the East Slavic borderlands we can fi nd those whose range in Polish dialects seems to indicate the possibility of Ruthenian infl uence; however, their Polish phonetic form implies their native origin and one should speak about an old reference in this respect. We also encounter Pan-Slavic words, where a doubt arises as to whether they are loans or old references in Polish in the East Slavic area and Eastern Poland.

Opis:: The polonisms present in the text of Słodkie Sulejki, a book by Siegfried Lenz, clearly indicate the former Polishness of Masuria, the considerable infl uence of the Polish language on the colloquial variant of German recurring in this region. S. Lenz did not speak Polish and therefore the polonisms in his artistic idiolect are a certain language reminiscence from his childhood, when he spoke the Masurian dialect with his grandmother.

Opis:: The text is devoted to the verb brechać, brzechać “bark” which is one of many examples of an overlap between Polish and East Slavonic systemic features, difficult to classify as native or foreign. The analysis of numerous sources and research papers enables to conclude that both Ruthenian brechać (expansive form that influenced derivatives) and Polish brzechać occured on Polish-East Slavonic borderland. This small difference has been either ignored or interpreted incorrectly in previous research.

Opis:: The article aims to determine the status and origin of the verb pluszczyć in three Slavic languages. The analysis of linguistic data has shown that, in terms of diachronic perspective, the unit under scrutiny is a semantic innovation that is common to Belarusian, Ukrainian and Polish (the Mazovian dialect), but has a slightly different character in each of these languages. While in Belarusian pluszczyć belongs to the lexical inventory of literary language, in Ukrainian it appears rather occassionally, but in Polish it is a regionalism (Podlasie) that can be synchronically considered as a loanword adopted from Belarusian.

Opis:: The article discusses characteristic features of the words kozytać ‘to tickle’, and kozytki ‘tickling’, that have a limited, regional distribution in Slavic languages and are present in Belarusian, Russian and Polish. A thorough analysis of dialectal data was conducted in an attempt to identify the origin and geographical markedness of these items. It has been revealed that *kozitati was most frequently used in North Belarus and was most probably a historic Belarusian-Polish innovation.
