- In the literature of the subject Juliusz Słowacki is considered to be a „musical” poet, and hence his works along with the analytical and interpretative studies that have accumulated around them are an intriguing material allowing one to state which factors – according to the researchers – make it possible to classify them as „musical”. They also show mechanisms through which musicology affects the language of literary studies, the reception of musicological terms, their semantic range and value in interpreting literature. „Musical” interpretations of Słowacki's work are focused around four superior problem areas. They are: – the alleged similarities between Słowacki's life and work and the work of various composers, especially that of Chopin;– verbal motifs coming from the circle of musical work – „music in the poem” remaining in the thematic layer of the literary work;– problems of prosody, euphony, rhythmicity and metre (the so-called „melodiousness”, „rhythmicality” and „musicality”. A critical discussion of the mentioned ways of interpreting Słowacki's poetical works allows the author to state that they have first of all an expressive value, and the interpretation of his works by means of notions taken from the field of research on music generally functions on the principle of lexicalization of musicological terms.
