Opis:: The objective of this paper is to review the criteria and indicators currently used for the assessment of forest management and to compare them with the criteria and indicators recommended in the economic literature. There are discrepancies between the types of indicators proposed in the economic literature and those applied in practice, which often result from the adoption of different concepts of sustainability and/or definitions of the welfare. It appears advisable to supplement the set of natural criteria and indicators with economic ones, so that the ability to self−finance the forest economy should not be forfeited.
