Opis:
The present study investigated the effect of different soil moisture content levels (60 – 70% SWC (soil water capacity) – control; 30 – 35% SWC – water stress) on yields, gas exchange parameters, seed health, and protein fractions of husked oat grain. The study showed that water deficit resulted in a decrease in grain weight per plant and a reduction in the gas exchange rates, primarily the photosynthesis and transpiration rates. Cladosporium cladosporioides was the dominant species on oat kernels in both experimental treatment options and in both years of the study. The presence of Fusarium poae was also found. Higher contents of prolamin, albumin and globulin fractions were found in the oat grain harvested from plants grown under soil water deficit conditions.

Opis:
A controlled field experiment was carried out in 2011-2014 in order to determine yields and chemical composition of selected genotypes of leguminous plants and spring wheat, as well as their value as a preceding crop (crop volume, mineral composition of seeds) for winter oilseed rape grown in Northern Poland. Chemical analysis of the content of macronutrients and micronutrients in seeds and grain was conducted using standard methods after mineralisation in H2SO4 with H2O2 as an oxidant (macronutrients), or in a mixture of the acids HNO3+HCl+HClO4 (micronutrients). It was proven that among the examined species and seasonal types of legumes, the highest total seed and protein yield volume was obtained from both field bean forms, traditional and determinate one. The lowest yield was achieved from blue lupine. The yield of winter wheat grain oscillated around 5.6 t ha-1. Blue lupine seeds were characterised by the highest total protein content. Seeds of both field bean forms were distinguished by the highest content of potassium, phosphorus, copper and zinc, while blue lupine seeds had the highest content of calcium, magnesium and manganese. The research showed a clear tendency towards a higher winter oilseed rape yield in a field after determinate field bean and seed pea. Spring wheat proved to be the worst previous crop for winter oilseed rape. The tendency for greater accumulation of nitrogen, phosphorus, calcium, copper, iron and zinc in winter oilseed rape seeds was observed in a field after determinate field bean. The lowest content of macronutrients and micronutrients was characteristic for seeds of winter oilseed rape grown after spring wheat. Winter oilseed rape seeds in a field after determinate field bean and blue lupine were rich in manganese. The research proved a positive relationship between the total nitrogen content in soil after harvest of pre-crop plants and winter oilseed rape seeds yield (r = 0.864).

Opis:
The aim of this study was to determine the influence of nitrogen fertilization and the preceding crop on the yield and chemical composition of winter oilseed rape. The yield of winter oilseed rape increased significantly in response to a fertilizer dose of 180 kg N ha-1. In our study, significant interactions were observed between the preceding crop and dose of nitrogen fertilizer. The optimal N fertilizer dose for winter oilseed rape grown after peas, narrow-leaved lupine and traditional (indeterminate) faba beans is 120 kg N ha-1. The recommended N fertilizer dose for winter oilseed rape is 60 kg N∙ha-1 after determinate faba beans and 180 kg N ha-1 after spring wheat. Winter oilseed rape was characterized by the highest seed yield when grown after determinate faba beans, and its yield was slightly lower after peas and narrow-leaved lupine. The lowest seed yield was noted when spring wheat was the preceding crop. The micronutrient content (Mn, Zn, Cu and Fe) of winter oilseed rape increased significantly in response to an increase in nitrogen fertilization doses. The seeds of winter oilseed rape were characterized by the highest phosphorus and magnesium content when grown after peas, the highest potassium content was achieved after determinate faba beans, and the highest calcium content occurrd in oilseed ape when grown after spring wheat. A linear regression analysis revealed a significant relationship between total nitrogen concentrations in the seeds of winter oilseed rape growth after spring wheat and nitrogen fertilization dose. An increase in fertilization levels enhanced nitrogen accumulation in seeds. A similar trend was noted when winter oilseed rape was grown after indeterminate faba beans and peas.

Opis:
The present pot experiment studied the effect of different soil moisture contents (60 – 70% CWC (capillary water capacity) – control; 30 – 35% CWC – water stress) on buckwheat productivity, the gas exchange parameters and health of buckwheat nuts. It was found that water deficit affected adversely certain biometric features investigated (plant height, number of nuts per cluster) and caused a decrease in seed weight per plant. It was also shown that water stress reduced the values of the investigated gas exchange parameters (photosynthesis rate, transpiration rate, intercellular-space CO2 concentration, and stomatal conductance) relative to the control treatment. Different soil moisture contents did not have a clear effect on fungal colonization of seeds. The multiplex PCR assays did not enable the detection of the genes responsible for mycotoxin synthesis. Under water deficit conditions, an increase was found in the content of albumin and globulin fractions as well as of glutelin fractions.

Opis:
The rate of photosynthesis and transpiration, intercellular CO2 concentration, and stomatal conductance of two cultivars of winter wheat were determined in the study. The severity of fungal infection of the grain was also estimated. It was found that water deficit decreased the values of gas exchange parameters, biometric characters and grain weight. In the first year the number of fungal isolates in wheat grain of both cultivars was lower under water stress conditions. However, in the next year the findings were ambiguous.
