- Islamic fundamentalism has become an issue of international concern and international relations. It is a diverse religious movement. Contemporary islamic fundamentalism has swept cross much of the muslim world. The term „islamic fundamentalism” is regarded by many misleading. The term „fundamentalism” is laden with Christian presuppositions and western stereotypes and it implies a monolithic threat. Radical extremists like Islamic Jihad, Al-Qaeda and Hamas have continued to exist in many parts of the muslim word. However, Islamic activism is also a social and political force operating within the system. Islamically inspired organizations offer a wide array of social welfare services. It is very important to distinguish between authentic populist movements that are willing with the system and extremists using violence and global terror.
