- The paper presents the causes investigation of scratches and cracks, basic measurements and inspections of damaged abutments and piers of prestressed concrete road bridge. The bridge was built in 1976, and its actual load capacity is D-class according to the Polish Standard PN-85/S-10030 (150 kN). Two clear cracks running vertically from the upper to bottom surface of the top plate to the foundations were confirmed on the body of right-bank abutment and the first pier. A serious threat was made up by the failure of this object. The given occurred damage together with comprehensive analysis of its appearing can be important in other similar cases of supports damage, especially in the old bridge objects, for which their age often reaches more than 100 years.
