Opis:
The main aim of this paper is typology, valorization and mapping of soundscapes. Identification of sounds in landscape and mapping them can be very useful and practical for tourism, especially for ecotourism. For this reason the map “Attractiveness of landscape units for ecotourism” by S. Kulczyk and W. Lewandowski (2006) was used us a background. The research field was located at Polish uplands, within Niecka Nidziańska Region. Three types of landscape are represented these – the valley bottom landscape of Nida Valley, the loessy landscape within Garb Wodzisławski and chalk-gypsum landscape in Niecka Solecka. The project included two stages. In the first stage the map with potential sounds and their “borders” for each landscape units was done. In the second stage the final verification of this map with students during the summer practice in 2008 was conducted. They were asked to identify sounds in the area and to map them. The results of the project confirmed that sound is a very important part of landscape and it should be taken into account by estimating the value of landscape for ecotourism. Some not attractive units on the map “Attractiveness of landscape units for ecotourism” appeared us an attractive because of their sounds (for instance agriculture fields). Some attractive fields lost their value because of noise from gypsum-mine or the road. Natural and artificial sounds were recognized within the research area. For agriculture landscape of Ponidzie the most characteristic sound is skylark (Alauda arvensis) song. Sounds smoothly change in time and space. Borders delimitated on the basis of visual changes do not exist for them. For this purpose it would be better to speak about sound in landscape than about soundscapes. This kind of research should be continuing by interdisciplinary team including ornithologists.
