bilans - Opis:
- The study area is located on the Islands of Wolin and Uznam on the Pomeranian Bay coast (Southern Baltic). In Poland, the barrier extends for 16 km. It consists of two sand spits formed between morainic plateau of these islands. At present, the entire barrier is covered by dune ridges formed since Atlantic period (5 000 BP). The youngest ridges (White Dunes) have been growing up since 17th century. Here, during last the 20 years two foredunes have grown up. The last one arose between 1997-2001. On this area author has been carried investigations since end of 1996. Investigations consist of relief measurements of different dune ridges and deflation hollows, phytosociological transects across the ridges (dune vegetation cover and variability of plant species), surface sand sampling and wind measurements. In this work long term of the foredune and upper beach changes were described. In separate parts of the sandbar, during last 14 years abrasion and aeolian processes with plants influence played main role. In the end of 2007, near profile 420th km (middle part of sandbar) on the upper beach embryo dunes formed ridge up to 4 m high. Now this form is rebuild into a new foredune. The foredune and the beach in the middle part of the sandbar are now sufficiently stabilized by grasses and wide enough to withstand heaviest storms. In other parts of sandbar dunes are stili affected by abrasional processes. Sand volume changes show visible increase of the foredunes in accumulative - middle part of the studied place. Sand volume dynamics rate in foredunes reached up to 120 m³ per one meter wide profile in the middle part of sandbar. Accumulation there reached up to 40 m³/m.
