    Jean-Guilhem Xerri, médecin biologiste compétent, et attentif à la conception holiste de l’homme, a été remarqué dans le milieu catholique français par sa récente publication: À quoi sert un chrétien? Le livre dresse une analyse de l’état de l’homme d’aujourd’hui, et propose de lancer un programme pastoral concernant la crédibilisation de la foi chrétienne dans notre monde. Le diagnostic du développement technologique, économique et idéologique du transhumanisme révèle finalement de multiples souffrances humaines. Toutefois, la situation douloureuse de l’homme peut être une occasion de rencontrer et de témoigner. Nous avons apprécié l’aspect pragmatique du témoignage de foi de l’auteur, chrétien engagé en ce monde. Sa réflexion toutefois présente des limites. Il ne met pas suffisamment en valeur, dans la situation actuelle de crise, les éléments positifs de l’évolution du monde moderne ni ne propose suffisamment de voies permettant d’articuler les aspirations de libération, de sécularisation de l’homme moderne avec l’annonce de l’Évangile. Et il ne précise pas suffisamment les enjeux nouveaux du sens éthique dans le domaine de la politique que les chrétiens ont le droit de rendre explicites dans leur témoignage.
    Jean-Guilhem Xerri, a biologist, skilled and attentive to the holistic conception of man, has been noticed in the French Catholic milieu by his recent publication: À quoi sert un chrétien? The book provides an analysis of the state of man today and proposes to begin a pastoral program of the Christian faith credibility in the world today. The diagnosis of the technological, economic and ideological development of transhumanism reveals in the end multiple human sufferings. However, the negative observation of human is considered as an opportunity to the encounter and a testimony. Our reading advocates the practical vision of the testimony of the faith of this author, for it is the Christian of the land of this world, but it also indicates its limits. The proposed apostolate does not enter sufficiently into the analysis of the crisis in terms of the positive elements of the modern world evolution. Xerri does not sufficiently suggest how to articulate modern man aspirations of liberation and secularization with the proclamation of the Gospel as well as he does not really specifies the new issues of the ethical sense in politics that Christians have the right to express in their witness.

    Opis:
    Pour proclamer la foi une simple conviction religieuse n’est pas suffisante. La pastorale d’aujourd’hui doit prendre en compte l’enjeu fondamental du changement de paradigme de la vision de l’homme et du monde dans la société (post)-moderne. Cette étude propose une réflexion sur la nécessité d’une conversion philosophique de celui qui s’engage dans l’apostolat de l’Église, en montrant trois points de blocage à dépasser dans la formulation du message évangélique. Cette conversion signifie une acceptation de la fin d’une époque de la transmission de la foi par l’intermédiaire de l’Église, en tant qu’un corps « politico-théologique ». Le premier point de blocage à dépasser est une absence de recherche visant une compréhension de la pensée post-moderne qui préconise la libération de l’homme. Le deuxième point de blocage consiste à ne lire l’agir du Christ dans le monde que par l’action de l’Église. Pour dépasser toute ambiguïté autour des signes des temps, la théologie doit proposer une lecture plus pneumatologique de l’agir de Dieu dans le monde. Le troisième point à dépasser est une approche «dogmatique» de l’apostolat, c’est-à-dire la tentation de transmettre l’Evangile comme un dogme figé en dehors de la situation concrète de l’histoire humaine.
    A simple religious conviction to proclaim faith is not enough. Today’s pastoral care must take into account the fundamental challenge of changing the paradigm of the vision of man and the world in postmodern society. This study proposes a reflection on the necessity of a philosophical conversion of the one who engages in the apostolate of the Church by demonstrating three points of blocking to be surpassed in the formulation of the evangelical message. Conversion means acceptance of an end of the epoch of the transmission of faith through the Church as a “politico-theological” body. The first point of overcoming is an absence of research aimed at an understanding of postmodern thinking which advocates the liberation of man. The second blocking point is a reading of the action of Christ in the world solely through the action of the Church. To overcome ambiguity around the signs of the times, theology must offer a more pneumatological reading of God’s action in the world. The third point to be surpassed is a “dogmatic” approach to the apostolate, that is to say, the temptation to transmit the Gospel as a fixed dogma outside the concrete situation of human history.
