piękno w muzyce - Opis:
- Saint Augustine had the strongest influence on the Western understanding of the beauty in music. His dialog De musica, together with De institutione musica by Boethius, was of crucial significance for understanding of music in the Middle Ages. Music is described by Augustine in the Pythagorean categories, i.e. in categories of numbers. however, in the popular thought Augustine is most of all remembered for his famous excerpt from his Confessions, in which he confides his pricks of conscience caused by listening to the church music being too beautiful, because he was afraid that the beauty of music would veil God. Cardinal Ratzinger describes the position of Augustine’s approach to music in the Western theology. Saint Augustine can be considered the father of the spiritual current in the theology of music; the opposite or rather complementary current would be the current of the Incarnation; it emphasizes the corporeal nature of the church music which is the continuation of the Incarnation.
