- 306 feces samples from 225 persons were examined; 1833 analyses were made by 7 methods (smears in NaCl, JKJ, stained with haematoxylin according to Heidenhain, cultures on Dobell and Pavlova medium, methods of Rivas. Faust, decantation). Contrast-phase, fluorescence and heating procedures were applied additionally. The results obtained warrant the following conclusions: fresh, utmost one-hour feces is the prerequisition of a correct examination: the examination of two subsequent stools makes it possible to detect about 90% cases; the most satisfactory results are obtained by means of haematoxylin stained (according to Heidenhain) smears; contrast phase, fluorescence and heating device facilitate to a certain degree the detection of protozoa; cultures are of little importance for diagnostic purposes.
