    Opis:
    Stone pines growing in the Radziejowa range exhibited a regular growth and development. At the age of 10 years, young trees developed regular, conical crowns. An increase in number and length of lateral shoots ensured development of the assimilatory apparatus. The vitality of stone pine was high. The trees characterised even by 5−year−old needles. Stone pine is found to be the admixture species stabilising the growth of plantations located at higher elevations of the upper mountain zone beyond the natural range of distribution of this species.

    Opis:
    Najczęściej podawanymi w literaturze parametrami eksploatacyjnymi akumulatorów kwasowych są gęstość elektrolitu oraz napięcie ogniwa. Tymczasem na wartości tych parametrów oraz wielu innych znaczący wpływ ma temperatura pracy ogniwa. W oparciu o instrukcje eksploatacyjne akumulatorów TGF 36 i typu 38UR9 oraz doświadczenia eksploatacyjne przedstawiono wpływ temperatury elektrolitu na procesy zachodzące w akumulatorach stosowanych na okrętach podwodnych.
    Density of electrolyte and voltage of cell are operating parameters of acid batteries most often mentioned in literature. However, it is work temperature of cell that has significant effect on magnitudes of these parameters. Operating manuals for batteries TGF 36 and 38UR9 were used to present the effect of electrolyte temperature on processes occurring in batteries used in submarines.

    W pracy określono wpływ stopnia uwodniona sacharozy amorficznej i jej mieszanin z agarem na parametry ich przemian fazowych (temperatura przemiany szklistej, temperatura i ciepło kystalizacji, temperatura i ciepło topnienia). Stwierdzono, że wraz ze wzrostem zawartości wody we wszystkich badanych materiałach, nastąpiło obniżenie temperatury i ciepła krystalizacji oraz temperatury i ciepła topnienia. 1% dodatek agaru wpłynął na opóźnienie procesu krystalizacji sacharozy i spowodował ponad dwukrotny wzrost wartości ciepła topnienia w porównaniu do czystej sacharozy amorficznej.
    In the paper the effects of the degree of hydration of amorphous sucrose and its mixtures with agar on the parameters of their phase transitions (glass transition temperature, the temperature and heat of crystallization, melting temperature and heat) were investigated. Increase in water content in all analyzed materials caused a decrease of the crystallization and melting temperatures and heats. The addition 1% of agar delayed sucrose crystallization and caused over a twofold increase in the value of melting heat as compared to pure amorphous sucrose.

    The global Trefftz approach is appied to optimalization of certain types of structures. Numerical examples show advantages of the method proposed. The algorithm can be extended to cover optimization using the Trefftz finite element solutions.
    Parametryczna optymalizacja kształtu konstrukcji z użyciem globalnej metody Trefftza Globalną metodę Trefftza zastosowano do optymalizacji pewnych typów elementów konstrukcji. Przykłady numeryczne potwierdzają zalety zastosowanej metody. Proponowany algorytm może być rozszerzony do optymalizacji z użyciem elementów skończonych typu Trefftza.

    Zjawisko przepływu gaz ciecz wokół pęku rur występuje w wielu procesach przemysłowych. W tej pracy przedstawiono przegląd najnowszych badań przepływu dwufazowego wokół pęku rur wykonanych techniką cyfrowej anemometrii obrazowej DPIV z wykorzystaniem kamer o dużej prędkości rejestracji obrazu w wysokiej rozdzielczości. Przedstawiono również wyniki badań własnych przepływu dwufazowego powietrze — woda w modelu płaszczowo rurowego wymiennika ciepła.
    Two phase flow around a tube bundle exist in many industrial processes. The newest researches of two-phase flow around the tube bundle using the DPIV measuring method and high speed cameras are described in this paper. The experimental setup and measurements of air - water flow in the heat exchanger model are presented. Complexity of two-phase flow is shown using velocity fields and stream lines.

    W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań przepływu dwufazowego wokół pęku rur. Analizie poddano przestawne i równoległe układy rur w pęku o podział- ce równej 1,66. Wyznaczono pola prędkości oraz rozkład współczynnika wnikania ciepła wokół rur przy pomocy technik DPIV i elektrochemicznej. Wyniki zaprezentowano dla różnych strumieni poszczególnych faz w postaci pól prędkości oraz lokalnych rozkładów liczby Nusselta wokół poszczególnych rur w pęku.
    This paper presents results of recent studies in two-phase flow around a tube bundle in the model of shell-and-tube heat exchanger. Two types of models of the in-line and staggered arrays with pitch to diameter ratio equal to 1.66 were examined. Two measuring techniques (DPIV and electrochemical) were combined in order to obtain complex data containing fluid velocity fields around tubes and the heat transfer coefficient on tubes' surface.     It is commonly believed that gall inducers have the ability to control and program the host plant growth to their own benefit. The pattern of changes in the contents of reducing sugars, protein and phenolic compounds as well as the activity of chitinase and β-1,3-glucanase in galls, galled and intact leaves of Ulmus pumila were investigated during three stages of Tetraneura ulmi gall development. High protein accumulation in galls at the initial period of gall formation, increased biosynthesis of total phenolics during galling process, and the highest activity of pathogenesis-related protein at the stage of mature galls were detected. Therefore, it can be suggested that T. ulmi can manipulate the biochemical machinery of the galls for its own needs.

    Opis:
    The effect of process parameters of conversion coatings on the corrosion resistance was investigated. To produce anodic coatings, the solutions of H2SO4 of 0.5 and 1 M concentrations and current densities of 0.5 and 1 A/dm2 were applied. The coatings were deposited by galvanostatic technique on titanium Grade 1. The result of the study was comparison of the corrosion resistance of coatings produced under varying parameters such as: the anodic current density, the electrolyte concentration, and the speed of reaching the preset voltage. Corrosion tests performed by potentiodynamic polarization test have shown that even nanometric anodic films of amorphous structure improve the corrosion resistance of titanium alloy. The lowest corrosion current and the corrosion potential of the most cathodic nature were observed in the sample with anodic coating produced at J = 1 A/dm2 in a 0.5 M H2SO electrolyte concentration.

    In this study, Ni, Ni-SiC and Ni-Al2O3 coatings were electroplated on the 2xxx series aluminium alloy. The following parameters of the electroplating process were applied: current density - 4A/dm2, time - 60 minutes, and temperature - 60°C. Hard particles of submicrometric size were used. The results of the research showing the effect of the addition of hard particles (introduced into the nickel bath as a dispersed phase) on the properties of coatings, including the effect of the type (SiC or Al2O3) and content (0, 25, 50 g / l) of these particles, were discussed. Based on extensive investigations, it was found that the type of ceramic particles significantly affects the structure of produced coatings. The dispersed particles incorporated into the nickel coatings improve their abrasion resistance. Improving of the corrosion properties were observed only in the case of coatings containing silicon carbide particles.

    The resultes of anodic oxide conversion coatings on wrought AZ61 magnesium alloy production are describe. The studies were conducted in a solution containing: KOH (80 g/l) and KF (300 g/l) using anodic current densities of 3, 5 and 10 A/dm2 and different process durations. The obtained coatings were examined under a microscope and corrosion tests were performed by electrochemical method. Based on these results, it was found that the low-voltage process produces coatings conferring improved corrosion resistance to the tested magnesium alloy.

    The effect of plastic deformation process on the dissolution rate of biocompatible Mg alloys was investigated. Two biocompatible MgLi1Ca0,2Zn1 and MgLi1Ca1Zn1 alloys were selected for the study. The alloys were deformed on a 100T press at a temperature of 350°C by conventional extrusion and by the equal channel angular extrusion process (ECAE). The grain size analysis showed a high degree of the grain refinement from approximately 110 mm in the initial state to 2.8 mm after the 3rd pass of the ECAE process. Compared to as-cast state, the degree of strengthening has increased after plastic forming. The results of biodegradation tests have shown a significant increase in corrosion rate after both conventional extrusion and ECAE, although after subsequent ECAE passes, this rate was observed to slightly decrease in the MgLi1Ca1Zn1 alloy. Based on the results of macro- and microstructure examinations, the corrosion progress in samples after the extrusion process was described.
