Opis:
The transfer matrix T(s) = C [Ins - A]^-1 B of a linear system x = Ax + Bu, y = Cx can be always written in the standard form T(s) = P(s)/d(s), where P(s) is the polynomial matrix and d(s) is the minimal common denominator. The irreducible transfer matrix is called normal if every nonzero second order minor of P(s) is divisible by d(s). It is shown that for an unnormal transfer matrix of the controllable system there exists a state-feedback gain matrix K such that the closed-loop system transfer matrix T(s) = C[Ins - (A + BK)]^-1 B is normal. In the case of the output-feedback the closed-loop transfer matrix Tc(s) = C (Ins - (A + BFC)]^-1 B can be made normal only if the system is controllable and observable.

Opis:
The inverse Frobenius matrices and the characteristic equations of the inverse systems are investigated. It is shown that the inverse system of continuous-time linear system is asymptotically stable if and only if the standard system is asymptotically stable and the inverse system of discrete-time linear system is asymptotically stable if and only if the standard system is unstable. The considerations are illustrated by numerical examples.

Opis:
Necessary and sufficient conditions are established for the existence of positive solutions to polynomial diophatine equations. A method of computing of the set of positive solutions to a polynomial diophatine equation based on extreme points and extreme directions is proposed. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated on a numerical example.

Two related problems, namely the problem of the infinite eigenvalue assignment and that of the solvability of polynomial matrix equations are considered. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions to both the problems are established. The classical Cayley-Hamilton theorem is extended to Drazin inverse matrices and to standard inverse matrices. It is shown that knowing the characteristic polynomial of the singular matrix or nonsingular matrix, it is possible to write the analog Cayley-Hamilton equations for Drazin inverse matrix and for standard inverse matrices.

Podano warunki dodatniości i stabilności liniowych układów ciągłych niecałkowitego rzędu. Sformułowano problem realizacji dodatnich stabilnych liniowych układów ciągłych niecałkowitego rzędu z macierzą systemową symetryczną Metzlera. Zaproponowano metodę sprowadzania macierzy stanu w postaci kanonicznej Frobeniusa do postaci symetrycznej stabilnej Metzlera. Metodę zobrazowano przykładem numerycznym.
A dynamical system is called a fractional-order system if its state equations are given by fractional-order derivative of the state vector. Using that theory, more precise mathematical models of systems can be obtained. A dynamical system is called positive if its all inputs, outputs, state variables and initial conditions are nonnegative. Variety of models having positive behavior can be found in engineering, biology, economics etc. Conditions for positivity and stability of linear continuous-time fractional-order systems are presented in the paper. A positive stable realization problem for linear continuous-time fractional-order systems with symmetric system Metzler matrix is formulated. The method for finding the realization is given. The problem is solved and conditions for the existence of the realization are established. The paper is organized as follows. In Section 2 the conditions for internal positivity and stability of linear continuous-time fractional-order systems are given. This section also contains the formulation of the positive stable realization problem for linear continuous-time fractional-order systems with symmetric system Metzler matrix. In Section 3 the procedure for computation of the realization is given. An example illustrating the method proposed is presented in Section 4. Section 5 contains the concluding remarks.

Conditions for the positivity of linear electrical circuits composed of resistors, coils, condensators and voltage (current) sources are established. It is shown that: 1) the electrical circuit composed of resistors, coils and voltage source is positive for almost all values of their resistances, inductances and source voltages if and only if the number of coils is less or equal to the number of its linearly independent meshes, 2) the electrical circuit is not positive for any values of its resistances, capacitances and source voltages if each its branch contains resistor, capacitor and voltage source, 3) the positive n-meshes electrical circuit with only one inductance in each linearly independent mesh is reachable if all resistances of branches belonging to two linearly independent meshes are zero 4) the electrical circuits of the structure shown on Fig.5.2 is reachable if and only if the condition (5.11) is satisfied.

Opis:
Conditions for the existence of positive stable realizations with system Metzler matrices for linear continuous-time systems are established. A procedure for finding a positive stable realization with system Metzler matrix based on similarity transformation of proper transfer matrices is proposed and demonstrated on numerical examples. It is shown that if the poles of stable transfer matrix are real then the classical Gilbert method can be used to find the positive stable realization.

Positive continuous–time and discrete–time linear electrical circuits with zero transfer matrices are addressed. It is shown that there exists a large class of positive electrical circuits with zero transfer matrices. The electrical circuits are unreachable, unobservable and unstable for all values of the resistances, inductances and capacitances. The discrete–time linear positive electrical circuits are introduced. It is shown that: 1) the discrete–time electrical circuit is asymptotically stable for all values of the discretization step if and only if the corresponding continuous–time electrical circuit is asymptotically stable; 2) the discretization of the continuous–time electrical circuit does not change their reachability, observability and transfer matrices.

Opis:
Conditions for the existence of positive stable realizations with system Metzler matrices for proper transfer function are established. It is shown that there exists a proper stable realization of transfer function of second order if and only if the transfer function has real negative poles. Sufficient conditions for the existence of positive stable realizations of transfer function of third order are established. A method based on the decomposition of transfer functions into the first, second and third orders transfer functions for computation of positive stable realizations is proposed. A method for computation of positive stable realizations of transfer functions with real negative poles and zeros is given.

The Drazin inverse of matrices is applied to find the solutions of the state equations of the fractional descriptor continuous-time systems with regular pencils. The stability of positive linear continuous-time and discrete-time systems is analyzed by the use of the decomposition of the state matrices into symmetrical and antisymmetrical parts. It is shown that: 1) The state Metzler matrix of positive continuous-time linear system is Hurwitz if and only if its symmetrical part is Hurwitz; 2) The state matrix of positive linear discrete-time system is Schur if and only if its symmetrical part is Hurwitz. These results are extended to inverse matrices of the state matrices of the positive linear systems.
