Opis:
Travelling off the road requires an adequate vehicle. The basic car needs to be properly chosen and prepared according to its destination. Due to understanding problem, the paper explains differences between various kinds of four-wheeling like extreme passage rally, time race or just off-road expeditions. The paper contains classification and description of the most popular in western Europe terrain cars, their construction solutions and general advantages and disadvantages. In the document are also presented vehicle selection criteria. This issue is as significant as proper choice of adequate driving type. Established criteria relate to variety and power of engines, four wheel drive, reduction gearbox, differential locks, weight, and the most important geometric and operation parameters. Due to above features is made the comparison and choice of car for further development. The review, evaluation and selection of building elements are customized to chosen car. Project of development of interior contains construction assumptions, strength calculations and numerical model of the drawer located in the rear of the luggage. Additionally there are also drawings of arrangement of particular body elements. Graphical model, drawings and strengths calculations are performed using the Autodesk Inventor Professional 2011 and AutoCAD Mechanical 2011. Just as the chosen equipment, project is adjusted to dimensions of luggage area of chosen car. Author’s design includes original spacing between the openings in exterior, what allows embedding drawer without any interference in the car body.

The seriousness of an impact "large truck - motor vehicle" has been exhibited. The procedures of truck and motor car s crash testing were compared in order to point out the necessity of car s crashworthiness investigation in terms of compatibility and impacts between vehicles with large difference in mass and rigidity. Furthermore the paper explains a course of frontal impact between large truck and motor car in order to proof the necessity of cars compatibility as well as aggressivity investigation. The mass effect along with rigidity effect was exhibited as well. Moreover, the paper explains the design as well as objectives of the passive safety devices of both motor car and large truck. The concept of another, innovative passive safety device such as "active bumper" has been emphasized. Its working principia, adaptive control as well as the diagrammatically presented design were pointed out. The bumpers control is very difficult as it will be entirely independent from a driver and it has to operate in random condition, therefore, the paper contains a proposition of controlling algorithm of the "active bumper". It also contains explanation of adaptation of the "active bumper" with various working condition as well as consideration of the "active bumper" application with various types of large trucks design.

Opis:
The paper contains the description and classification of pyrotechnic actuators focusing on the automotive industry applications. This paper also explains the compatibility issues during frontal impact of a passenger car with a large truck. The construction of the pyrotechnic actuators for the "active bumper" is presented here. The processes occurring within the pyrotechnic actuators after ignition of a pyrotechnic propellants have been explained. The investigations are focused on the dependence of a shape of the actuator's combustion chamber and the piston stroke time. It appears that the appropriate design of the combustion chamber can decrease the time required for a piston stroke using this same type of a propellant. This also allows to reduce the amount of propellant when the more rapid stroke is not required. This is because of the characteristics of the detonation waves which are responsible for the piston movement. The visualization of the detonation waves occurring due to ignition of the propellant is crucial for understanding the dependence between the construction of the actuators interior and the piston stroke time. Therefore, the approach of simulating numerically the detonation waves aroused. This simulation was conducted with aid of ANSYS Workbench 13 environment using the AUTODYN module. The numerical tests consists on modelling the actuator without changing the overall dimensions as well as the parameters of the propellant. The only elements modified were piston and the bottom of the cylinder shape.

Currently, the environment protection challenges the designers and manufacturers of combustion engines due to the fact that the engine emits toxic compounds, which are hazardous to the life organisms. Increasingly strict regulations concerning emission of the exhaust gases forces application of the innovative technologies or improvement of the presently used. One of systems, which reduce the toxicity of the exhaust gases, is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system. This solution reverse part of the exhaust gases back into the manifold and mixes it with fresh inlet air. In consequence, the combustion temperature decreases. Less oxygen reacts with nitrogen and more connects with carbon and hydrogen. Presently there are two types of EGR system i.e. internal and external. In case of the first one part of the exhaust gases remains in the combustion chamber after the combustion but its construction is not complicated. The external EGR system uses one valve of the exhaust gas recirculation system located on the manifold. This location can result of the uneven portion of exhaust gases directed to the combustion chamber. In consequence, the decrease on the temperature is also uneven and therefore different portion of nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gases.
