The article aims at presenting the genesis, editors-in-chief, publisher, editorial formula, artwork, and topographic order of “Niedziela Podlaska” (Eng.: The Podlasie Sunday) in 1994-2010. Up till now this topic was not undertaken by scholars. The article bases mainly on archival and press material (all issues of the journal were analyzed which published between 1994-2010). The main sources were accomplished by some general dissertations. The article owes them especially information about the past, structure, organization, and performance of the Drohiczyn Diocese.

In the article the author presents the history of the Diocese of Elk in the years 1992-2017. It discusses the most important issues related to this diocese, for example: organization and structure, clergy and demography, first synod of the diocese, architecture and art, church institutions, seminary, caritas, media and religious and pastoral life. Although the presented material does not ex-haust the whole of the issue, it often signals only the selected elements, it cer-tainly brings the history of the aforementioned diocese to a close.

In 2012 the Diocese of Ełk prided itself on nine sanctuaries. During the 20 years of the diocese of the sanctuary there have been several changes. Two new sanctuaries were established: Leipzig and Elk. All paintings in the Marian sanctuaries were crowned during this time (4 images out of 6). In the 2012 schematism the names of the sanctuaries have been clarified and the division into Marian shrines and others (“other”) have been introduced.

Charity is an integral part of the Churchʼs ministry, and active charity is one of the Christianʼs basic duties (cf. Mt 25, 35-45). The Church follows in the footsteps of her Founder, who loved us and showed us this love not only through the Sacrifice of Salvation, but also through works of mercy (cf. Mt 11, 5). Therefore, he not only proclaims the love of neighbor and obliges him to perform acts of mercy, but also gives charitable activities institutional forms, making caring for the poor one of the main tasks of the deaconʼs office (Acts 6, 1-6). In Poland, the traditions of this activity date back to the beginnings of the Piast state. Over the centuries, it was mainly animated and led by bishops and religious orders, but also brotherhoods and lay people. It was similar in the interwar period and in the Lomza diocese, except that the nature and forms of this activity were adapted to the changing socio-political conditions after the war. And so, in the first period, emphasis was placed mainly on the organizational and coordination side of charity, and since the economic crisis in 1929 and the development of Catholic Action, primarily on specific charity work and refining its methods. By charity we will understand the entire charity campaign carried out in the interwar diocese of Lomza. It was based mainly on Parish Committees of Relief, consisting mainly of Vincentian associations and Catholic Action, 2) charitable institutions and foundations; 3) the activities of religious orders, in particular the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of Saint. Im vorliegenden Artikel werden die sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Aktivitäten der Katholischen Aktion in der Diözese Lomza während der zwanzigjährigen Zwischenkriegszeit besprochen. Diese Tätigkeit geschah in vielfältiger Form und betraf verschiedene Ebenen des öffentlichen Lebens. Unter anderem trug sie zur Entwicklung eines einheimischen Unternehmertums, zur Verbreitung des Verständnisses für das Genossenschaftswesen, zur Propagierung der Sparsamkeit, zur Hebung des Niveaus der Landwirtschaft u.dgl. bei. Im Interessenbereich der Katholischen Aktion befand sich auch die Frage der Arbeitslosigkeit. Man versuchte, der sich vertiefenden Wirtschaftskrise und der damit verbundenen zunehmenden Arbeitslosigkeit durch Schaffung von Arbeitsvermittlungsbüros abzuhelfen. Vieles deutet auch darauf hin, daß sich diese Initiativen großer Popularität erfreuten und einen beträchtlichen Einfluß auf das soziale Leben der Diözese hatten.

This article presents the literary achievements of doctor priests from the Ełk diocese specializing in biblical theology. It collected publications that were published within twenty-five years from the year the diocese was founded. Fr. Zdzisław Mazur, currently the pastor of the parish St. Bruno in Giżycko. Although he is a biblical theologian by profession, he wrote a significant part of all his works, popularizing the history of the Church, publishing them mainly in the diocesan journal Martyria.
