M. Heller - Opis:
- Stanislaw Lem and Michal Heller likewise, strongly emphasize empiricism on the matter of cognition. They perceive science as systematic empirical thinking. According to Lem, if scientific hypotheses entail instrumental confirmations in the shape of definite results (regularity), such as creating certain tangible states of affair (e.g. healing somebody), then we come to the final test of its credibility. On the other hand, Lem shows religions as a kind of contradiction of science. It is because what they offer usually has eschatological dimension and thus unable to be verified (as death is a cognitive border for us). Lem as well as Heller are interested in the question of God’s creating of the world. The writer raises an argument that the world is not a pleasant place, but simply the badly-constructed one.
