Opis:
The paper presents comparison of the ‘Person over board’ manoeuvres. The article was based on research con-ducted on a group of students of the Faculty of Navigation of Gdynia Maritime University. People involved in studies previously conducted on board training on school training ships: "Dar M?odzie?y" and "Horyzont II", but did not have experience as an officers. Research was carried on the Polaris Ships Bridge Simulator, located at the faculty of Navigation, of Gdynia Maritime University.

Opis:
The safety of the tanker during the loading operations carried out in the oil terminal is influenced by many factors. Based on the observations of port personnel and weather analyses in that area it was found that for Naftoport one of the most important factors affecting the security of the tanker is the wind, and more precisely – its direction and speed. Less important are accompanying waves and generated by it variable and periodic wind current. In this selected area of the Baltic Sea the direction and speed of wind change very dynamically depending on the activity of pressure patterns, which are very closely related to the occurrence of seasons. For the purpose of the article simulations were carried out of variable wind speeds, from directions causing the breakaway of the ship from the jetty, with an application of the model of the tanker in the least favourable load condition. The results obtained – the load in the mooring ropes from simulation tests were compared with the requirements of the OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum), determining the methodology of performing calculations of these forces for the selected type of tanker.

Opis:
The transition from conventionally manned to autonomous ships is accompanied by the development of enhanced Decision Support Systems (DSS) for navigators. Such systems need to consider interactions among hardware, software, and humans and their potential effects on system performance, which require rigorous testing to verify the system's safe decision-making ability and operational limits. Testing requirements for verification are aimed at 1) assessing the system's reliability and failure handling performance, and 2) integration testing. This work uses the System-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) to develop integration tests for a novel DSS. STPA is a structured methodology to identify hazards from multiple sources, including hardware or software failures, system interactions, and human errors. The objectives of the study are to develop and assess the feasibility of integration test procedures based on STPA. The stability monitoring subsystem from the DSS is analyzed as a case study. The results are used to suggest functional and performance integration test procedures.

Opis:
The Kadzielnia nature reserve located in Kielce is a remnant of the long-term exploitation of limestone. The slopes of a former quarry are unstable; landslide processes occur there, posing a threat to humans and disturbing the landscape. This condition requires observation of the changes in order to take preventive measures. The article presents the preliminary results of such observations, performed for four selected landslides in Kadzielnia. While measuring, modern geodetic techniques were applied, including satellite technology, scanning tacheometry and laser scanning. Obtained results indicate slight displacements of the monitored walls over several months. Observations which were made are initiating study on the behavior of the landslides in the area of Kadzielnia, aimed at early detection of threats and enabling taking safety procedures.
