Bieszczady Mts. - Opis:
- This study aimed at quantitative spatial analysis of forest cover transformation in the Western Bieszczady Mts. based on two areas: Bieszczady Wysokie Mts. (from 1852 to 2004) and Baligród Forest District (from 1938 to 1996). Raster maps were created to illustrate two cover types: forest and non−forest. Using ACSII files and Fregstats 3.3 program, landscape metrics were calculated for whole landscape and both cover types. Landscape structure became simplified. Forest cover area increased with simultaneous patch number decrease and aggregation degree increase. Non−forest cover underwent inverse changes, such as area and aggregation degree decrease. Patch number change differed in both areas in relation to various processes of patch creation.
