    Not only during the period of his Pontificate, but also during previous years, the activity of Karol Wojtyła is worth recalling, appreciating and internalizing, and his preached and written teaching on responsible parenthood should be put into practice. The teaching about man, love, marriage, and parenthood is still relevant today. However, there are both those who support them as well as those who oppose them, particularly, opponents who avoid moral principles, especially in the field of the transmission of life. Therefore, a question arises about the effects of Cardinal Wojtyła’s efforts to protect the dignity of a child and a woman – mother, as well as morality in the area of procreation. The victory of the truth, visible in the encyclical Humanae vitae promulgated by Paul VI, is a success, while the spread of demoralization experienced to this day by groups promoting abortion and contraception and especially the poor moral condition of future spouses and parents, creates new challenges.

    Odpowiedzialność prokreacyjna obejmuje świadome, kompetentne, przygotowane, podjęte w wolności i w jak najwłaściwszym czasie poczęcie dziecka oraz troskę o jego zdrowie i odpowiednie warunki rozwoju. Odpowiedzialność ta wiąże się ze świadomością kobiecej i męskiej zdolności prokreacyjnej, umiejętnością rozpoznawania dni płodnych i niepłodnych oraz roztropnością w dziedzinie zachowań seksualnych i przekazywaniem życia. Wyrazem odpowiedzialności prokreacyjnej jest planowanie dzietności z uwzględnieniem własnej sytuacji zdrowotnej, materialnej, mieszkaniowej, zawodowej, moralnego i religijnego kontekstu planowania rodziny, jak również aktualnej sytuacji społecznej i demograficznej. To także pozytywne nastawienie do rodzicielstwa i gotowość przyjęcia dziecka oraz zaangażowanie w opiekę prekoncepcyjną i prenatalną. Osobowa godność człowieka, potrzeby dziecka i społeczeństwa oraz umiejętności poznawcze dojrzałych osób dorosłych skłaniają do postawienia wymagań odpowiedzialnego przekazywania życia.
    Procreative responsibility includes a conscious, competent and well prepared conception of a child, taken in the most appropriate time and in freedom and care of the child's health as well as proper conditions for the development. The responsibility involves the awareness women's and men's procreative capabilities, the ability to recognize fertile and infertile days and keeping prudence in sexual behaviour and procreative intentions. A manifestation of procreative responsibility is planning fertility with consideration for health, material, residential, occupational; moral and religious context of family planning as well as present social and demographical situation. It is also a positive attitude towards parenthood and the readiness for accepting a child and engaging in preconception and prenatal care. Personal dignity of human being and cognitive skills of mature adults induce to setting requirements for responsible human procreation.

    Przekazywanie życia wiąże się ze szczególną odpowiedzialnością. Obejmuje ona między innymi właściwy wybór metody planowania rodziny. Zasady moralne w dziedzinie prokreacji przedstawiają dokumenty Kościoła, zwłaszcza encyklika Humanae vitae. Za dopuszczalne moralnie uznawane są metody rozpoznawania, a nie przeciwdziałania płodności. Współcześnie jednak wiele laickich i liberalnych źródeł propaguje stosowanie środków antykoncepcyjnych. Potrzebni są doradcy potrafiący wykazać niewłaściwość takiego wyboru i pomóc w przyjęciu naturalnego planowania rodziny jako stylu życia. Studenci Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego Jana Pawła II, kształceni w zakresie nauk o rodzinie, mają w swym programie ćwiczenia z metod planowania rodziny. Przeprowadzone badania ankietowe przed rozpoczęciem tych zajęć i po ich zakończeniu wykazały korzystne zmiany nastawień wobec metod planowania rodziny. W 2011 r. 93% uczestniczących w zajęciach studentów stwierdziło, że pod wpływem odbywanych ćwiczeń nastawienie wobec naturalnego planowania rodziny zmieniło się na bardziej pozytywne. W roku akademickim 2012/2013 po skończonych zajęciach procent studentów aprobujących niedopuszczalne moralnie stosowanie środków antykoncepcyjnych zmalał z 43,4% do 19,2%, a wyrażających sprzeciw wobec nich wzrósł z 55,3% do 80,8%. Zgodnie z apelem Jana Pawła II, wyrażonym w adhortacji Familiaris consortio, potrzebny jest „szerszy, bardziej zdecydowany i systematyczny wysiłek idący w kierunku poznania, oceny i stosowania” (FC 35) metod naturalnej regulacji poczęć.
    The transmission of life is associated with a particular responsibility, including, among other things, making the right choice of the method of family planning. Moral rules in the sphere of procreation are presented in documents of the Church, especially in the encyclical Humanae Vitae. Those texts present morally accepted methods of family planning as methods of recognising fertility and not counteracting it. Today, however, many secular and liberal sources promote using contraceptives. There is a need for advisers who can indicate the misconceptions of such a choice and help in accepting natural family planning as a lifestyle. The students of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin are educated within the scope of family sciences and have the family planning exercises in their curriculum. Before starting the course questionnaire surveys were conducted, and after finishing it, we have noticed favourable changes in the attitude towards the methods of family planning. In 2011, 93% of the student participating in the course confirmed that their attitude towards the methods of family planning had changed to more favourable one under the influence of the course exercises. After finishing the course in the academic year 2012/2013, the percentage of the students deeming use of contraceptives as morally unacceptable dropped from 43.4% to 19.2%, and the percentage of the students expressing the opposition to them grew from 55.3% to 80.8%. In accordance with John Paul II's appeal expressed in his Exhortation, Familiaris Consortio, there is a need for “wider, more definite and systematic effort leading to recognition, evaluation and use” (FC 35) of the methods of natural family planning.

    Opis:
    Approval of fertility recognition and opposition to interfering with it have been expressed in many documents of the Church (Pius XI 1930, Paul VI 1968, John Paul II 1988, John Paul II 1995). The question remains: to what extent have the moral principles in the field of transmitting human life been interiorized and implemented? The answer to this question is possible thanks to the analysis of the results of surveys of various social groups. The article encourages spouses and parents, priests and educators, politicians and journalists, academic teachers and medical staff to constantly undertake, and even intensify, support activities in the field of expanding knowledge about the methods of ethical birth control and strengthening the attitude of responsible parenthood.
    Aprobata dla rozpoznawania płodności i sprzeciw wobec jej zakłócania wyrażone zostały w wielu dokumentach Kościoła (Pius XI 1930, Paweł VI 1968, Jan Paweł II 1988, Jan Paweł II 1995). W związku z tym celem artykułu jest odpowiedź na aktualne pytanie: Na ile zasady moralne w dziedzinie przekazywania życia ludzkiego zostały zinterioryzowane i wdrożone w życie? Odpowiedź na to pytanie jest możliwa dzięki analizie wyników badań ankietowych różnych grup społecznych. Artykuł zachęca małżonków i rodziców, duszpasterzy i wychowawców, polityków i dziennikarzy, nauczycieli akademickich i personel medyczny do stałego podejmowania, a nawet zintensyfikowania działań pomocowych w zakresie poszerzania wiedzy o metodach etycznej regulacji poczęć i wzmacniania postawy odpowiedzialnego rodzicielstwa.

    Opis:
    Ensuring a man's health and fulfillment in the proper way requires surrounding him with love. Responsible care for the offspring should go before the conception, should accompany it in the prenatal period and be present at the further stages of its development. The attitude of planning the family is an expression of such care; the planning should aim at conceiving each child in the most favorable time; the child should be longed-for and loved from the beginning. True love not only does not harm anybody (cf. Rom 13, 10), but protects against any pathology, and cures the inflicted wounds. Expressing love in an adequate way requires learning proper ways to communicate it. Love and responsibility condition man's sound development and are a manifestation of mature attitudes, as they result from the basic imperative inscribed in human nature by God (DCE 31). Such attitudes also constitute a necessary condition for a proper family to exist. A human person's dignity obliges one to assume proper attitudes towards everyone, and the features that are inscribed in the fact that one is a human being make it possible to undertake responsible acts resulting from authentic love. The need of such acts and the tasks connected with this need should be realized especially by people who are being prepared for contracting marriage and for parenthood, so that every human being coming to this world could be surrounded with responsible care on the side of his parents.
