    Opis:
    The paper presents the results of studies, which have led to the development of empirical equations for determining various kinds of dbh form factors. The studies concerned beech stands growing in the north of Poland. Dbh form factors for stand can be determined using the said equations on the basis of the average dbh or average stand height. The same set of empirical equations was also developed to determine form factors for trees.

    Opis:
    This paper addresses the question of whether or not and to which extent two common tree species mixtures (Norway spruce – European beech; sessile and pedunculate oak – European beech) vary in volume growth from their monocultures. To this end, the results from selected long−term experimental plots located in Germany, Poland and Switzerland, with many of them under survey since the 1890's, were employed. We found than on average both type of mixtures exceeded volume growth in pure stands by almost 30%. The analysis at the species level showed than only a Norway spruce response to mixture was neutral on average, while other tree species were benefitted by mixture. An empirical derived model for mixed stand of oak and European beech disclosed that the interaction can range from facilitation and overyielding on poor sites, through the neutral response under mesotrophic conditions, up to underyielding on fertile sites triggered by competition.

    Opis:
    The paper provides results from the study on calculating the percent bark volume for two beech stands from Stuposiany and from Dynów and Sucha−Beskidzka Forest Districts. The percent bark volume can be best determined using a percent bark thickness method. The percent bark volume of stands from Dynów and Sucha−Beskidzka can be also determined on the basis of their mean dbh, height, age or volume while PVk of stands in Stuposiany can be determined only on the basis of percent bark thickness, the remaining characteristics do not ensure the desired accuracy.
