Opis:
Finite Element Method is one of the most frequently used computational schemes in numerical analyses. A contact phenomenon is an essential issue when modelling the physical interaction between two or more bodies. Depending on the used software, the various contact algorithms are applied. In the paper, the authors present the results of evaluation of different contact methods implemented in LS-Dyna CAE software. The most common problem arising during contact modelling is the occurrence of penetration between the coupling elements, which leads to an increase of contact forces and, consequently, a local deformation of finite elements. In the introduction, a theoretical background related to mathematical aspects of contact modelling is presented, in particular search methods for contact surfaces and the penalty forces calculating method. Subsequently, a contact analysis for different variants of interaction of the elements is presented. In the first analysed case, shaft- sleeve interaction, in both rotation and translation, is presented. The variable factors in this case were a number of interacting finite elements and the type of a contact algorithm. The second case focused on the interaction forces resulting from the interaction between two sliding bodies in the harmonic motion. A sliding body was pressed against the plane using an increasing force. A variable factor in this case was the type of the implemented contact algorithm.

Opis:
Dynamic response of an I-beam supporting structure subjected to shock wave produced by the detonation of high explosive materials is presented in this paper. Dynamic response of structural components in different load cases-with multimaterial panel protection and without protection, subjected to blast wave from various charge weight and various distance stand-off was determined. LS-DYNA, a 3-D explicit, finite element computer code with Lagrangian-Eulerian coupling was used to study this behaviour. Also initial static load was taken into account as pre-stress field present in the column obtained using dynamic relaxation procedure. The protective panel is composed of fibreglass composite and aluminium foam. The composite orthotropic properties and the failure criteria for fibre and matrix damage as well as the stress-volumetric strain curve for metallic foam were taken into account. The previous study shows that critical to the structure durability are the plastic strains and the structure failure caused by high deformation. Results of the analyses indicate that application of the blast panel around the supporting structure increase the resistance and significantly reduce the plastic deformation of the structure. The pillar without protection can be destroyed by 2 kg TNT placed close to the structure. Analysed beam covered by the blast panel can resist over three times bigger charge without significant deformation of the structure.

Opis:
The paper presents numerical analyses aimed at preliminary assessment of the protective panel effectiveness, which task is to protect the elements of building structures against explosion. For the criterion of assessing the effectiveness of the panel the load capacity of the column made of steel I-beam was chosen. Ultimate force was determined by using advanced computational procedure, which consisted of four stages: preload, blast simulation, dynamic response and static analysis of deformed structure. Blast load was simulated using Lagrangian- Eulerian domain coupling. Results indicated that the application of the protective panel significantly reduces the plastic deformation of the structure.

Opis:
This article presents the validation process of a brake FE model by means of temperature measured on a special stand using infrared technology. Unlike many other publications, the authors try to show the interaction between measurement technology and numerical modeling rather than only nice, perfectly correlated graphs. Some difficulties in choosing and using validation parameters are also pointed out and discussed. Finally, results of FE analyses are compared with measured data, followed by explanation of applied numerical technology and estimation of validation process effectiveness.
