In the Polish so-called In the mainstream media, the issue of children in times of the COVID-19 pandemic is described in the categories of social roles, from an economic perspective or using the rule of substitution, through adults. This testifies to the denial of the minors‘ own subjectivity. The aim of this work was to verify whether there is a gap between psychologists in the perception of the new situation of the child and his needs. It was accepted that the image of the minor – as a subject threatened by the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic – should definitely be expressed in the recommendations of psychological associations, as well as in selected current scientific works. Such a distinction is based on two concepts: compliance and evidence based psychology. After analyzing the recommendations and selected publications, it was concluded: 1. In contrast to the SARS and MERS epidemic, the issue of the child‘s mental condition during the COVID-19 pandemic is given much more space in the thinking of researchers and therapists; 2. The recommendations of the most important psychological associations, including Polish, European and American, were developed taking into account child subjectivity, holistically and practically. 3. There is a growing body of knowledge about the implications of COVID-19 among children, although work on long-term implications is still not available; 4. The promotion of recommendations and scientific knowledge among the general public is problematic, especially unprofessional, and here again it is necessary to point out the shortcomings of media coverage.

Across the so-called mainstream media in Poland, the problem of children during the COVID-19 pandemic has been often described in terms of various social roles and from an economic perspective or by applying a specific substitution rule by adults. This can only lead to a conclusion that minors are subject to a particular phenomenon of de-subjectification. The aim of this study was to verify whether there is a specific gap in the perception of this new situation facing children as well as their needs among the psychologists. What was assumed is that the position of a minor, as an entity at risk of different consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, should be reliably catered for across the recommendations of various psychological societies as well as in selected and current scientific works. Such a distinction is a derivative of two concepts: that of the compliance and of the evidence-based psychology. After analysing certain recommendations and selected publications, it was concluded that unlike the SARS and MERS epidemics, the issue of the mental condition of children during the COVID-19 pandemic occupies much more of a spectrum when it comes to different considerations of researchers and therapists. Recommendations of the most important psychological societies, including Polish, pan-European and American, were looked at taking into account the subjectivity of children, both holistically and practically. What should be indicated is that there is an increasing new understanding of the consequences of the pandemic among children, although there is still no significant work on the long-term effects. Furthermore, it is also quite problematic to promote the recommendations as well as the very scientific knowledge among a wider range of recipients, especially non-specialized ones, and here again one should point out to the shortcomings when it comes to media transmission.

On January 2020, the corona virus has spread worldwide. 6.06 million people are affected and about 370,000 died on June 1, 2020. In Japan, a state of emergency was declared, refraining from going out and requests for store closures were implemented. In Japan, more than 17,580 people have been affected and 910 have died. These figures are less than 1.77 million people infected and about 100,000 deaths in the United States but because it is a sensitive feeling that this will increase by tens of thousands in a short period of time, we must be alert. I wrote this paper with caution and for future reflection. Regarding infectious diseases and philosophy, the ‘illness of Athens’ (circa BC430) in “History of the Peloponnesian War” of Thucydides is famous, when Socrates was 40 years old. There are several theories about this infection, but I assume it is Ebola hemorrhagic fever. The tragedy is said to have killed 1,000 of the 4,000 military personnel. The infectious disease and the war continued for about 30 years. As a result, the whole of Greece was scorched, plundered, murder became routine and people encountered despair, darkness and nothingness. At this bottom, the Greeks sought justice, peace, love and human ideals. Then philosophy was established. Before the wonders of nature, humans are powerless and nothing as Pascal also said. Socrates experienced and learned nothingness from this situation in military service, so he seized and explained ignorance. His theory led to Plato, Aristotle and the heyday of Greek philosophy. It continues in the modern times. The tribulation of an infectious disease gave birth to philosophy. The corona virus is also a crisis of the human race in the world, but this is a sign of the emergence of a new philosophy. Or it has begun.
