Opis:: Information-communication technology is so generally used that there is no area of life in which it is not applied. In recent years, the concept of Smart City is getting more and more popular, which is a response to the increasing needs of improving communication and information processes in the management of cities. In this area modern ICT solutions cover wider and wider range, and they implement the concept of Smart City. Thus the article discusses the main solutions of information and communication technologies (ICT) used in Smart City and further directions and possibilities of ICT implementation in this area.

Opis:: The concept of the Smart City becomes a reality the functioning of modern cities. The deployment of modern information and communication technologies in key urban processes is a response to the increasing needs of the monitoring, surveillance, control and management of modern cellular processes in cities. The purpose of this article is to indicate, on selected examples of implemented projects in Poland and all over the world, which constitute the foundations for the implementation of intelligent solutions in the process. The article discusses the selected projects implementation the concept of Smart City on the background of the concept of sustainable urban development, which is the concept has been circled in the Lisbon strategy. A selection of examples referred to in the article was made on the basis of published in the Polish media and world rankings, „smart cities”.
