    The effective development of regions depends not only on the size of the national income, but also on the source of its origin. Differences in approach to the factors describing the competitiveness of regions and cities have evolved from a more general level in the direction of specialization, including both factors related to the quality of human capital and economic potential. Technology parks are an example of a high concentration of innovative human capital. In the past five years several new park initiatives were established in Poland. The activities of parks should be the development measured, for example, by employment growth in the regions, and innovativeness of companies. The main aim of the study is a multi-dimensional assessment of spatial differentiation in development of technology parks in Poland in terms of dynamics and identification the factors affecting the socio-economic development of cities and regions. The study used data from a project of PARP entitled "Benchmarking technology parks in Poland." The selected methods of multidimensional comparative analysis in terms of dynamics was selected to study the effectiveness of the parks.

    The subject of the study is a comparative analysis of the level of sustainable development of the European Union. The basis of the study was the data collected in the Eurostat database, which the European Commission uses to monitor the implementation of the objectives of EU Sustainable Development Strategy. In order to determine similarities and differences in the level of development of EU countries in the study area, a method of multidimensional scaling was used. The obtained results allowed to identify similar as well as different countries because of their designated sizes. There were also identified countries whose sustainability is the closest to the object of reference and those whose previous development is similar to antipattern. In the calculations the environment and packages of R program were used.

    Research background: The basic question we ask is whether is it possible to talk in today?s globalizing world about the uniform of the competitiveness of the economies? Posing such questions is particularly important in the case of political and economic structures such as the European Union. The competitiveness of the economies is now one of the most frequently discussed topics. In this work, due to the context of the conducted research (international comparisons of the EU countries? economies) the competitiveness of international economies will be considered in terms of international competitive capacity. In addition to the problems associated with defining this concept, there are also important dilemmas concerned with the measurement of the competitiveness. In the performed comparative analyses of European economies the research results presented within reports of ?Global Competitiveness Index? will be used. Purpose of the article: The main purpose of the paper is to conduct a multidimensional comparative analysis of the competitive capacity of the European Union countries and geo-graphical regions of Europe. Methods: In the paper, to study the spatial differentiation of the EU countries and geograph-ical regions of Europe in the context of their competitive capacity, the taxonomic measure of development based on median vector Weber was used. Findings & Value added: As a result, the classification and the typological groups of EU countries and geographical regions of Europe calculated on the basis of the features describing their competitive capacity arises. The value added of these research is the analysis of competitive capacity conducted not only for EU countries, but also for geographical regions of Europe. In the paper, the verification of criteria using by World Economic Forum to assess the competitive capacity of EU economies was also conducted. In this area of the research, because of high level of correlation, many features from initial database were deleted.

    The main purpose of the study is an assessment of the relationships between sustainable competitiveness of the economy, sustainable development and responsible innovations. For this purpose the indicators from the 2030 Agenda and data published by OECD describing the concept of green growth were used. The results were obtained on the basis of a two-stage procedure. In the first step the rankings of the EU countries in each the considered areas were calculated and in the second one the results of the previous stage were used to create typological groups with the application of correspondence analysis. The outcomes presented in the paper clearly confirm the significant level of differentiation of the results achieved by EU countries in various areas that make up the overall concept of sustainable competitiveness. The value added of the paper comes from the approaches to the evaluation of the relation between various areas sustainable competitiveness.
    Głownym celem artykułu było badanie relacji występujących między zrównoważonym rozwojem i konkurencyjnością gospodarki. W badaniu wykorzystano wskaźniki stosowane przez Komisję Europejską do monitorowania postępów we wdrażaniu Agendy 2030 oraz dane zaczerpnięte z bazy OECD opisujące wyniki krajów w zakresie realizacji koncepcji zielonego wzrostu. Do badania relacji między wskazanymi obszarami wykorzystano dwuetapową procedurę badawczą. W pierwszym kroku wyznaczono rankingi w każdym z obszarów, w drugim na ich podstawie dokonano podziału krajów UE na grupy typologiczne z wykorzystaniem analizy korespondencji. Powtwierdzono znaczne zróźnicowanie krajów UE, czego efektem jest podział aż na siedem grup.

    The purpose of the paper is study of spatial uniformity in the field of sustainable development of European Union and geographical regions of Europe analyzed by the prism of EU countries located in this regions before, during and after the economic crisis from 2007–2008. Material and methods The analysis of similarities and differences between the EU Member States countries or in the case of geographic regions of Europe has been based on sustainable development indicators published by Eurostat. To the final set of diagnostic features, the 22 indicators have been selected. To study the spatial differentiation of sustainable development the taxonomic measure of development based on median vector Weber as well vector calculus were used. The impact of the economic crisis is particularly obvious in the Southern and Eastern European Union countries. The position of the Southern countries, that failed to cope with the world economic and financial crisis, deteriorated and they fell into the group at the lowest level of development. The results obtained in this study can be used in subsequent years to examine the direction of changes in sustainable development levels observed both from the point of view of the EU Member States and geographical regions.
    Celem pracy jest analiza przestrzennej jednorodności w obszarze zrównoważonego rozwoju Unii Europejskiej oraz regionów geograficznych Europy rozpatrywanych z punktu widzenia krajów członkowskich UE położonych w tych regionach przed, w trakcie i po kryzysie ekonomicznym z lat 2007–2008. W analizach podobieństw i różnic rozwojowych występujących pomiędzy krajami członkowskimi Unii Europejskiej i w przypadku regionów geograficznych Europy wykorzystano wskaźniki zrównoważonego rozwoju publikowane przez Eurostat. Do ostatecznego zbioru cech diagnostycznych, które stały się podstawą dalszych badań empirycznych, wybrano 22 wskaźniki. Do badania przestrzennego zróżnicowania w obszarze zrównoważonego rozwoju wykorzystano taksonomiczny miernik rozwoju wyznaczony w oparciu o medianę Webera oraz rachunek wektorowy. Wpływ kryzysu na uszeregowanie krajów członkowskich UE jest szczególnie widoczny w przypadku krajów Europy Południowej i Wschodniej. Pozycja krajów Europy Południowej, które najgorzej poradziły sobie ze światowym kryzysem gospodarczym i finansowym pogorszyła się, a kraje te zostały zaklasyfikowane do grupy o najniższym poziomie rozwoju przeciętnego kraju członkowskiego. Otrzymane wyniki mogą być wykorzystane w kolejnych latach do badania kierunków zmian zachodzących w obszarze zrównoważonego rozwoju analizowanych zarówno z punktu widzenia pojedynczych państw członkowskich UE, jak i regionów geograficznych Europy.
