Opis:: One advantage of AMI is the ability to Demand Side Management. The ability to control the client devices (Load management) is one of the key function of AMI. Some customers with smart meters and Time-of-Use (TOU) tariffs pay different amounts for their electricity over three (or two) different time periods. They can program their smart appliances. Customer's devices are switched-on when energy is cheaper, and switched-off when it is more expensive. If clients on a massive scale will run their devices at a time when energy is cheaper, then it would affect the bulk electric grid.

Opis:: Obecnie można zaobserwować globalny ruch w kierunku inteligentnych sieci. Pomimo tego, że są różne ścieżki osiągnięcia tego samego celu, który jeszcze nie jest precyzyjne określony, to budowę takiej sieci najczęściej rozpoczyna się od wdrażania inteligentnych systemów pomiarowych. Urządzenia elektroniczne (komputery, telefony komórkowe itp.) w ostatnim czasie uległy bardzo szybkiemu rozwojowi. Autor stawia tezę, że wystąpi podobny rozwój inteligentnych liczników, zatem już teraz trzeba przewidzieć to przygotowując specyfikacje wdrożeniowe dla takich systemów.
You can now see the global movement towards smart grids. Despite the fact that there are different paths to achieve the same purpose which is not yet precisely defined, the construction of such a network usually starts with the implementation of smart metering. Currently, engineers and scientists contribute to the rapid development of electronic devices. The modern electronic devices (computers, cell phones, etc.) have more functions than devices produced a few years ago. In fact, by 2015, 250 million smart meters will be installed worldwide. Millions of electric smart meters in customers' homes cannot be developed in a simple and fast way. This limitation may hinder AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) development. Smart meter will have a remote firmware update feature. The paper presents limitations of this feature. The article describes a problem of interoperability. Interoperability is the ability of diverse systems and devices to work together (inter-operate). The author argues that a rapid development of smart meters will be occur, so distribution network operators must take this into account when preparing specifications for the implementation of such systems.

Opis:: Cloud computing jest to model przetwarzania danych, oparty na korzystaniu z zasobów komputerowych dostarczonych przez zewnętrzne przedsiębiorstwa lub działy firmy za pośrednictwem sieci. W artykule zostaną przedstawione doświadczenia z kilkuletniego funkcjonowania systemu AMR (ang. Automated Meters Reading) bazującego na rozwiązaniu chmury prywatnej.
This paper describes many types of public cloud computing and problem with cloud computing security. Cloud computing is the use of computing resources that are delivered as a service over a network. Cloud computing relies on sharing of resources to achieve coherence and economies of scale similar. The paper presents the several years' experience of the AMR (Automated Meters Reading) system operation based on a private cloud. AMR projects are successfully used by numerous local and national utilities but it was one of the first projects based on cloud technology. This system AMR was implemented in a utility company. The computer system has been working commercially since 2008. Users have to connect to server using Remote Desktop Connection. It was a new solution for the users. They were accustomed to the fact that all the programs they had installed on own PC. The past experience show that the cloud computing is a very forward-looking technology which can be used in systems AMR/AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure).
