Opis:
The research of computer networks construction of models that reflect the current audited environment to carry out practical research is extremely dicult and often involves signicant costs. Hence, the popularity of simulation tools that help developers to determine as early as at the stage of the simulation whether a given solution can be deployed in a real network. However, over time many dierent simulation tools have been developed, each with dierent characteristics, dierent uses, dierent strengths and weaknesses. It is the task of the researcher then to select, before starting the actual research, one of the available simulators in accordance with the needs and adopted criteria of evaluation. In the article the authors present issues related to the simulation tools and the main advantages of simulation as well as their drawbacks. To help researchers select an appropriate simulation environment, the authors present statistical information gathered during a literature survey of a number of research articles from the most popular publishers in which the selected simulators were used in initial system design.

Opis:
The article presents issues concerning the construction of autonomous wireless networks based on the IPv6 protocol. Prospects of implementation of IPv6 in wireless networks and IPv6 features and mechanisms important in such applications are discussed. Research directions related to the use of IPv6 in wireless networks are also outlined. Then the selected concepts are described, arising in the course of the EFIPSANS (Exposing the Features in IP Version Six Protocols that can be Exploited/Extended for the Purposes of Designing/Building Autonomic Networks and Services) project, during studies on the autonomy of nodes and routing configuration for wireless networks. Concepts presented here apply to wireless ad hoc mesh networks. Discussed is their nature and aspects related to auto-configuration and autonomously operating routing. In particular, there is a Wireless Autonomic Routing Framework (WARF) architecture presented.

Opis:
The subject of the article is the design and practical implementation of the wireless mesh network. IQRF radio modules were used for the network design. The IQRF® technique has enabled the construction of a mesh network with the possibility of reconfiguration. The theoretical part contains a description of the IQRF® hardware solutions used. The practical scope includes the design part, where the configuration of the radio modules was carried out and the parameters of the radio network were set to allow its implementation in various topologies. Then, a wireless network consisting of 10 IQRF modules was launched in the P3 building of the Opole University of Technology. At this stage, configured radio modules were placed in selected rooms on all five floors of the building in order to carry out tests of the radio network constructed in this way. The tests included measuring the packet transmission delay time as well as the received signal strength. Research was carried out for several network topologies.
