Opis:
The paper is focused on the analysis of the lessons learned from the genocides in the 20th century for the existing situation in Ukraine. Apart from the short overview of the history behind the term genocide and the adoption of the convention for its prevention and punishment in the post-World War II period, the paper explores the main specifics of the selected genocides (Armenian genocide, the Holocaust, Cambodia, Rwanda, and Yugoslavia). On the basis of the identified specifics, several conclusions and lessons have been drawn, including the expectation that mass atrocities will happen again and that international justice is often slow and deals with a limited number of perpetrators.

More than a year after the Russian aggression against Ukraine, a little can already be said about Turkey‘s attitude and the consequences of the conflict for Ankara. Turkey is balancing between Moscow and Kiev, trying to gain ground as a mediator, but also looking after its interests, especially economic ones. The text aims to analyse Turkish-Russian and Turkish-Ukrainian relations, especially since the outbreak of the war, and to answer the question of what the possible consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war are for Turkey, whether it will be the big winner or rather the big loser of the situation.

The technological revolution and digital development have opened up new possibilities for communication and access to information. However, with these changes came the challenges of spreading fake news. Russia needed them to achieve its political goals, and Ukraine fought them to gain international support. The article shows the role and impact of disinformation on the Russian-Ukrainian war. It focuses on the problems of the lack of verification of sources, the spread of hatred and unfounded judgments that can change the fate of the war.

Opis:
The article presents an anthropological defense's practical dimension on cultural activities observed during the Russian-Ukrainian war. The paper's primary hypothesis is to deliver anthropological defense strategic objectives from a country's perspective at war. The adopted view refers to hybrid warfare and hybrid threats. The goals are as follows: 1) documentation objective, 2) therapeutic objective, 3) ideological objective, 4) diplomatic objective. A structured, consistent defense line allows creating a shared narrative by dividing society as the Ukrainian one. All actions in terms of anthropological defense refer to the values shared by the majority of citizens. Nevertheless, anthropological defense tools' choice and use must be strategically conditioned, i.e., other benefits for cinematography, theater, and fine arts. For an action to be practical cooperation between self-governing assemblages (such as volunteers, artists, art curators) and state actors must be established. The cooperation ctivities undertaken are complementary and complementary and can, therefore, be remarkably efficient.

Opis:
Pojęcie nieposłuszeństwa przenosi nas, ponownie, do szkoły: tam, gdzie przyswajamy wiedzę i jesteśmy przyuczani do posłuszeństwa.
The full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine not only triggered an unprecedented eruption of suffering, symbolised by Bucha; it evoked long-lost old-new images, but also became a turning point setting the entire discursive map in motion. This turn in thinking is linked to the return of war as the central figure framing the world in which we live. The war in Ukraine has also set in motion profound processes at the centre of which is decolonisation. However, the decolonisation of Russian politics, Russian imperialism and Russian culture (its 'innocence') is not - again - a gesture abstracted from a broader background, but, before our eyes, becomes part of a turn aimed at restoring epistemic justice. To decolonise means to be disobedient. The notion of disobedience takes us, again, to school: where we acquire knowledge and are taught to be obedient. At the same time, decolonisation involves the realisation of the need to go beyond learned and a priori accepted frameworks, categories and concepts. "Back to school", however, occurs not to continue learning, but to unlearn what has been learned with such difficulty. After February 24, 2022, we are observers of this accelerated process.

Objectives: The article considers the changes that occurred in bilateral relations between Russia and Austria in the period before and after the start of the military invasion of Ukraine in February 2014. Austria, as the subject of the study, was chosen because of its peculiarities as a perpetually neutral country and state - member of the European Union. The country to shape its bilateral relations with Russia in a particular way, which has changed since the beginning of military operations in Ukraine. Methods: The analysis and synthesis of knowledge, the case study method, the hard and soft power theory of Joseph Nye, a method of observing current political and military events. Results: 1. Until the conflict with Ukraine, which took the form of war in February 2022, relations between Russia and Austria were friendly, based on mutual benefits. 2. The Austrian government to take an unambiguous stance towards the conflict and to stand in solidarity with other EU countries. 3. The bilateral relations to rapidly weaken and deteriorate, which can be seen in the public statements of Russian politicians. Conclusions: Austria played a special role in bilateral and multilateral contacts in the international environment. Russian sought to influence Austria through diplomatic, informational and economic means. By publicly condemning the armed invasion in Ukraine and accepting the sanctions imposed on Russia by EU countries, Austria received a harsh reaction from Russia in the diplomatic forum. In the long run, this may dramatically change the arrangement of mutual relations between the two countries.

The cultural context, where two neighboring Slavic nations are in a state of war and the Russian imperialistic approach has never gone away for good, must be taken seriously into consideration. The international legal analysis of the Russo-Ukrainian war is not enough to truly understand the essence – rationale – of this armed conflict and then to find a solution to how to solve it and punish the perpetrator – the Russian Federation. The arguments gathered here by the author come from her own experience during trips to Russia and Ukraine, as well as military courses facilitation where students are taught that in modern warfighting it becomes more and more valid to change the (Western) lens and begin thinking as the perpetrator does. Only then we are objectively able to see and understand if the atrocities committed by Russian troops in Ukraine bear the hallmarks of a war crime or an act of genocide.

The dominant view towards the Middle East is that the region is stuck in the past and plagued by conflict. Therefore, it was anticipated that Middle Eastern states would take a side in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Despite expressing sympathy for Ukrainians due to their own experiences of humiliation caused by several wars, the Middle Eastern people and states remained cautious and chose to avoid getting involved in the conflict. It seems that the view of the Middle Eastern middle class had an influence on state decision-making regarding involvement in the war in Ukraine. Considering the rise of an educated middle class in the region, it can be hypothesized that the middle class’s priority is political-economic instability rather than engaging in further wars. The objective of this research is to comprehensively understand the Middle Eastern middle class’s viewpoint on war.

The nature of the modern military operations conducted on Ukrainian territory has generated a wave of mass emigration focused on the nearest safe areas. Poland, too, as one of the neighbouring countries, is a fundamental migration target for war refugees. Russian armed aggression began in February 2014, and on February 24, 2022 turned into a regular war. As a result of martial law, a number of children, women and the elderly (over 60 years of age) range seek protection on Polish territory. The influx of people became the basis for the creation of an important law of March 12, 2022 on assistance to citizens of Ukraine in connection with the armed conflict on the territory of that country. The legislation regulates the rules of legalization of residence, guarantees access to the labour market, health care, as well as benefits and social assistance. A number of aid measures issued for Ukrainian migrants, high inflation as well as Russian propaganda used for information warfare have negatively affected public sentiment towards factors shaping security. Therefore, an analysis of selected security sectors identifies threats as well as problem areas along with opportunities to ensure security.

The review concerns an edition of Albert Vimina’s work "History of civil wars in Poland" ("Historia delle guerre civili in Polonia") by Teresa Chynczewska-Hennel. Th e edition consists of two main parts. The first, which is an extensive introduction, was devoted mainly to the description of Albert Vimina’s biography. The second part contains "The History of Civil Wars in Poland", which consists of five books on 196 pages. The main part contains descriptions of the struggles of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth with the Zaporizhian Cossacks in the years 1648-1651. The following three parts, attached to "The History of Civil Wars in Poland", are also related to the author’s personal observations. As I have already mentioned, the reviewed edition is published in Poland for the first time and it has been prepared with knowledge of editorial art and in accordance with the recommendations of the publishing manual. It must be emphasized at this point that what clearly distinguishes it from the Lithuanian edition from 2012 is, above all, the excellent translation and extensive set of footnotes. In conclusion, it must be said with certainty that we have received a very successful edition and, what is worth emphasizing, not the last one in the publisher’s output.
