The main issue I take in this article is to find the answer to this question: why some members of our society (society, who is addicted to consumerism) are able to help another selflessly? Who are they, what motivates them? Why in the world, where the most important thing is the pursuit of wealth, there is a large group of people, who finds time for reflection and selfless help? Perhaps there are some personality traits, catholic ethics or socialization, which teach us empathy? It could be a lot of reasons why people decide to be a volunteer. I am going to find the common features, which connect those people.

This article is about motivation between employees and volunteers in local communities. Relationships between employers and employees are regulated by law. Employee provides his knowledge, skills and experience to employer to achieve planned organization targets and to create profit. According to Slovak law the salary includes not just only basic salary but also bonuses, tax, employee and employer healthcare and social insurance payments. The focus is on personnel policy of organization with an emphasis on achieving organizational goals and the successful allocation on the market. The emphasis is on motivation, which is necessary for personal feedback in organizations irrespective of size of organization. Article discusses the right work habits and shows how to encourage voluntary work. In the state, public organizations and local communities there are people - volunteers who want to work without financial or non-financial rewards. Focus of this article is on a human being, going through many changes and processes in his personal and professional life.

Hospice volunteering is s special kind of voluntary service. According to research, an average age of hospice volunteers is higher that an average age of volunteers in other types of voluntary services (Przewłocka, 2011; Seredyńska, 2018). However, it does not mean that there are no young persons in hospices, especially when one remembers that contact with the sick and dying allows people to realize the most important things in life and to gain a more realistic view of their limitations. So, it can be said that the environment of hospice voluntary service offers valuable upbringing and educational opportunities. The paper is based on the analysis of subject literature and address several upbringing and educational aspects connected with the environment of hospice voluntary service. These aspects include the analysis of hospice volunteering which educates for accepting: the central position of God in human life, death as an integral part of life, weaknesses and limitations in the maturing process, and the attitude of ‘imagination of mercy’ towards the sick and dying. Other educational and upbringing environments do not confront a person with these aspects of life to such an extent.

Opis:
The article is a voice in the discussion on difficulties and threats related to the involvement of volunteers in assistance activities. It presents theoretical definitions of basic issues as well as practical conclusions from the observation of voluntary activities. The stages of engaging volunteers in cooperation with non-governmental organizations or other institutions have been analyzed in detail. At any stage of the activity, problems may arise that require immediate reaction. The implications of diagnosing these adversities are the basis for more effective planning and development of volunteer activities in the sector. The subject matter is a contribution to complementing the fragmented pragmatic knowledge of voluntary activity in Poland. Bearing in mind that volunteering by providing individual human capital of volunteers favors the multiplication of general social capital, the signaled topic should be the subject of further inquiries.
Artykuł stanowi głos w dyskusji o trudnościach i zagrożeniach związanych z angażowaniem wolontariuszy w działania pomocowe. W opracowaniu przedstawiono teoretyczne ujęcia definicyjne podstawowych zagadnień oraz praktyczne wnioski z obserwacji działań wolontarystycznych. Szczegółowej analizie poddano etapy angażowania wolontariuszy we współpracę z organizacjami pozarządowymi i innymi instytucjami. W każdym stadium aktywności mogą wystąpić problemy wymagające niekiedy natychmiastowej reakcji. Implikacje diagnozy wymienionych przeciwności stanowią podstawę do efektywniejszego planowania i rozwoju działań wolontarystycznych charakteryzowanego sektora. Podjęta tematyka stanowi wkład w uzupełnienie fragmentarycznej wiedzy pragmatycznej o działalności wolontarystycznej w Polsce. Pamiętając, że wolontariat, stanowiąc jednostkowy kapitał ludzki wolontariuszy, sprzyja pomnażaniu ogólnego kapitału społecznego, zasygnalizowany temat powinien stanowić przedmiot dalszych dociekań.

Teorie wyjaśniające działania w wolontariacie poprzez wskazanie poszczególnych atrybutów, można podzielić na te, które podkreślają motywy oraz te, które akcentują racjonalne działania oraz analizę kosztów i korzyści. Wiek i płeć są cechami różnicującymi wolontariat, w dużej części łączą się też z postrzeganiem i rozumieniem kapitału ludzkiego oraz zasobów społecznych. Rozważania poświęcono kontekstowi efektów związanych z pracą wolontariatu, jednocześnie dostrzeżono zróżnicowany wpływ organizacji oraz społeczności, a także cechy regionalne, co stanowi pole do eksploracji. W artykule przedstawiono wolontariat jako zachowanie prospołeczne na przykładzie państw Półwyspu Iberyjskiego.
Theories which explain the phenomenon of voluntary service by pointing to individual attributes can be grouped into those that emphasize motives and those that emphasize rational action and cost-benefit analysis. Age and gender are features differentiating voluntary service and they are, to a great extent, associated with perception and understanding of human capital and social resources. The present considerations focus on the context of effects related with volunteering. Attention was also payed to the varied impact of organizations and communities as well as of regional characteristics on individual decisions to volunteer which remains a fruitful field for exploration. The article presents volunteering as prosocial behavior at the example of the countries of the Iberian Peninsula.

Siewcą uczuć wyższych, które definiują człowieczeństwo, jest wolontariusz, który poprzez swoją pracę bezinteresowną i nieodpłatną poświęca siebie i swój czas by nieść pomoc innym. Chęć angażowania się ludzi w wolontariat jest ogromna, gdyż osób potrzebujących jest naprawdę wiele. Istotny jest fakt, że korzyści, które wypływają z pracy wolontariackiej, mogą być obustronne. Zdobycie nowych doświadczeń zawodowych, zaspokojenie swojej potrzeby samorealizacji, możliwość zdobywania nowych znajomości i zwiększenie poczucia wspólnoty to tylko niektóre pozytywne aspekty, które niesie za sobą praca wolontariusza. W opracowaniu zaprezentowano wyniki badań zrealizowanych wiosną 2018 r. przez osoby pracujące w Studenckim Kole Naukowym „Wolontariusze”, działającym na Wydziale Nauk Społecznych w Uczelni Jana Wyżykowskiego. Dotyczyły one zaangażowania studentów pedagogiki w działania wolontariackie.
In these hard times, where money rules the world and higher feelings very often do not matter anymore, every nucleus of goodness and kindness counts. The sower of these feelings is a volunteer who, through his selfless and unpaid work, sacrifices their life and time to help others. The need to get people involved in volunteering is huge, because there are a lot of people in need. It is important that the benefits that flow from volunteer work can be mutual. Gaining new professional experience, satisfying your need for self-realization and the opportunity to acquire new friendships and increase the sense of community are just some of the positive aspects that volunteer work brings. The study presents the results of research carried out in spring 2018 by people working in the Student Volunteers’ Scientific Club, operating at the Faculty of Social Sciences at UJW in Polkowice. They concerned the involvement of students of pedagogy in volunteering activities.

A purpose of this article is to pay attention to motives, which volunteers headed to choose streetworking duty. It seems to that human being in one’s behaviour wended own business, and the motives those action we can recover in behaviour which is disinterested seemingly. Nonetheless in man occurs favour to people, often disinterested, which we can see in a streetworker job. In theoretical part this paper was given an explanation of work idea, motive, prosocial motivation and their types were handed. Then put up a definition of streetworking and a term of streetworker. An empirical part contains the authorial research over motives of volunteers to work in streetworking. Finally, meaning of the aims and life aspiration of the research people were determined. An assessment of job value was showcased as well as paid attention to their further plans.
Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na motywy, jakimi kierowali się wolontariusze, wybierając służbę w streetworkingu. Wydaje się, że istota ludzka w swoim postępowaniu kieruje się własnym interesem, a motywy takiego działania można odnaleźć w zachowaniach, które są z pozoru bezinteresowne. W człowieku występuje sympatia do ludzi, często bezinteresowna, którą można zaobserwować w pracy streetworkera. W części teoretycznej niniejszego opracowania wyjaśniono pojęcie pracy, motywu, motywacji prospołecznej oraz podano jej rodzaje. W dalszej kolejności przedstawiono definicję streetworkingu i terminu „streetworker”. Część empiryczna zawiera badania autorskie nad motywami wolontariuszy do pracy w streetworkingu. Dokonano określenia znaczenia celów i dążeń życiowych badanych osób oraz zaprezentowano ocenę wartości pracy wolontariuszy i zwrócono uwagę na ich dalsze plany.

Wolontariat jest bezpłatnym i dobrowolnym działaniem na rzecz różnych grup osób m.in. doświadczających zaburzeń psychicznych. Motywacje do działań mogą być różne i wiązać się m.in. z chęcią zdobycia doświadczenia oraz nowej wiedzy, potrzebą odpłacenia się społeczeństwu oraz pomocy potrzebującym, a także potrzebą bycia akceptowanym, chęcią nawiązania nowych relacji oraz zweryfikowania własnych aspiracji. Część motywacji wiąże się z chęcią „dawania”, inne zaś zorientowane są wokół „otrzymywania”. Wolontariusze pracujący z osobami z zaburzeniami psychicznymi są cenną częścią systemu wsparcia, mogą pracować w wielu miejscach oraz w różny sposób. Działania wolontariuszy ujęte są zarówno w ustawie określającej ramy wolontariatu, jak i w kodeksie etycznym wolontariuszy, który może być wyjściem do projektowania odpowiednich działań wolontariackich. Wolontariat odgrywa znaczącą rolę we wspieraniu osób z zaburzeniami psychicznymi, jest uzupełnieniem działań instytucjonalnych, wolontariusz może być wsparciem dla pracujących profesjonalistów. W związku ze znaczeniem wolontariatu ważne jest, aby dalej szukać metod poprawy rekrutowania oraz szkolenia, zarządzania wolontariatem, a także wspierania wolontariuszy w ich pracy, aby minimalizować wypalanie i przeciwdziałać nadmiernej rotacji wolontariuszy, a maksymalizować potencjał tkwiący w każdej osobie.
Volunteering is an unpaid activity for the benefit of various groups of people, incl. persons experiencing mental disorders. Motivations for volunteering may differ and involve the desire to gain experience and new knowledge, the need to repay to the community and to help those in need, and also the need to feel accepted or the desire to establish new relationships and verify one’s own aspirations. Some of the reasons for volunteering are related to the willingness to “give”, while others are related to “receiving”. The volunteers working with people with mental disorders are a valuable part of the support system. The volunteers can work in many places and in various ways. Volunteering activities are included both in the law defining the framework of the volunteering as well as in the code of ethics of volunteers, which can be a starting point for designing appropriate volunteering activities. Volunteering plays a significant role in supporting people with mental disorders, volunteering activities complements institutional support, and volunteers themselves can support professionals. In view of the role of volunteering, it is important to continue looking for ways to improve the recruiting, training and management of volunteering, and to support volunteers in their work, to minimize burnout and to reduce frequency of volunteers’ turnover, as well as to maximize the potential of every individual.

The phenomenon of voluntary work is a very important element in individual and social life. Considering the problem from individual perspective, the author made an empirical attempt to find the answers to the following research questions: What motives to get engaged in voluntary work guided the subjects? Is there a significant generational difference as for the preferred motives? The study was conducted in a group of 60 volunteers (83.3% of women) who represented three stages of adulthood: early, middle, and late adulthood. Two examination tools were applied: a survey examining the motives for becoming a volunteer, and a form for personal details. The obtained data were analysed with the application of percentage distributions.

Teza. Wolontariat to bezpłatna, bezinteresowna i świadoma praca na rzecz innych. Obecnie istnieją jego różne formy i rodzaje, a każda osoba dobrowolnie może zaangażować się w określone działania. Omówione koncepcje. Jedną z form wolontariatu, w którą mogą włączyć się młodzi dorośli jest Program Projektor- wolontariat studencki. Jego celem jest dotarcie do dzieci i młodzieży z małych miast i wsi z aktywnością oraz wiedzą studentów. Oferta adresowana jest do placówek oświatowych, takich jak szkoły podstawowe, gimnazja, szkoły średnie, a także świetlice, ośrodki kultury, OSP oraz stowarzyszenia. Studenci mogą realizować autorskie scenariusze w ramach projektów startowych, specjalistycznych, systematycznych, feryjnych, wakacyjnych oraz akcji specjalnych. Ich tematyka zależy od wiedzy, umiejętności i zainteresowań wolontariuszy. Mogą to być zajęcia artystyczne, psychologiczno- pedagogiczne, humanistyczne, matematyczne, przyrodnicze, historyczne, sportowe, turystyczne itp. Wyniki i wnioski. Realizując projekty edukacyjne w miejscowościach do 20 tysięcy mieszkańców, wolontariusze wzbogacają ofertę szkół, ale i rozwijają własne zdolności pedagogiczne, organizacyjne i zarządcze. Dodatkowo przekazuje się pozytywne wzorce, zachęca się do własnego rozwoju, kształtuje się postawy społeczne, rozwija pasje i umożliwia realizację pomysłów. Oryginalność/wartość poznawcza podejścia. Studenci dzięki zaangażowaniu się w Program Projektor- wolontariat studencki zyskują doświadczenie pedagogiczne, umiejętności zarządzania projektem, czasem, zespołem, a także możliwość rozwoju w programie, poprzez różne kursy i szkolenia.
Thesis: Volunteering is a free, selfless and conscious work for others. Currently, there are various forms and types of volunteer work, and anybody can freely become a volunteer and engage in specific activites. Concepts diccussed: One form of volunteering which young people can participate in is the “Projector” student volunteer program. Its purpose is to reach children and young people from small towns and villages, engaging them with various activites and giving additional lessons created by volunteer university students. The offer applies to educational institutions, such as primary and secondary schools, and middle schools, as well as community centres, cultural centres and similar institutions. Students organize additional lessons, implementing their own scenarios as part of start-up, specialist, systematic, holiday and special projects. The subject matter depends on the knowledge, skills and interests of volunteers. The topics of the lessons can be artistic, psychological and pedagogical, humanistic, mathematical, natural, historical, sports, tourist, etc.. Results and conclusion:. By implementing educational projects in towns with up to 20,000 inhabitants, volunteers complement the school syllabus, at the same time developing their own teaching, pedagogic and management skills. Additionally, they pass on positive behaviour, and are encouraged to develop themselves and their social attitudes, passions and ideas. Originality / cognitive value of the approach: Thanks to students’ involvement in the "Projector” student volunteer program, they gain much pedagogic experience, become more aware of time management and teamwork, as well as the opportunity of having various courses and trainings.

Opis:
Social and emotional competences are fundamental for volunteers working in hospices. The author’s aim is to analyse these competences as a foundation for the development of a method which could be used for measuring the level of social and emotional competences of volunteer candidates at St. Lazarus Hospice in Cracow. This knowledge can be useful in the volunteer recruitment process in hospices, where the carers serve the sick and dying. The paper begins with the theoretical part which provides a definition of a hospice, a description of volunteers’ role in its organizational structure, and an list of competences they should possess. The empirical part is focused on the research problem expressed in the question: what social and emotional competences do volunteer candidates possess? The study, based among others on statistical analysis, has revealed that the most significant competences in the volunteer’s performance, motivation and persistence in voluntary service are emotional competences connected with personal maturity.
Przedmiotem artykułu są kompetencje społeczne i emocjonalne, które mają podstawowe znaczenie dla wolontariuszy posługujących w hospicjach. Celem autorki jest opracowanie metody umożliwiającej określenie poziomu kompetencji społecznych i emocjonalnych, którymi dysponują kandydaci na wolontariuszy. Wiedza ta będzie przydatna w procesie rekrutacji wolontariuszy do posługi przy chorych i umierających. W części teoretycznej artykułu wyjaśniono, czym jest hospicjum, jakie miejsce zajmują w jego strukturze wolontariusze i jakie stawia się wobec nich oczekiwania odnośnie kompetencji. W części dotyczącej badania główny problem badawczy brzmi: Jakie kompetencje społeczne i emocjonalne posiadają kandydaci na wolontariuszy hospicyjnych? Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników można stwierdzić, że szczególnie cenione są kompetencje emocjonalne związane wynikające z dojrzałości osobowej.
