Opis:
The Supreme Audit Office evaluated the healthcare system for children and school children, especially with regard to preventive care. The audit covered the years 2015–2017. It examined whether the current organisation of the healthcare system allowed for effective utilisation of the financial and human resources, and whether children and youngsters were provided with the required preventive and treatment services, and whether equal access to such services is ensured. NIK also audited whether the measures for improving the system were systematically implemented, as well as the activities aimed at satisfying both children and their parents or legal guardians.

Opis:
Introduction. Nowadays, preventive vaccination is still the most effective method of countering and combating infectious diseases. Objective. The objective of the present study was to take into consideration the education of the respondents while learning about their views and attitudes towards both compulsory and recommended preventive vaccination in Poland. Materials and methods. An interview survey was conducted among 370 respondents – students and young parents residing in the Lublin province of eastern Poland. The research tools were an authors’ questionnaire and a Life Orientation Questionnaire (SOS-29). Results. The majority of respondents with secondary education (77.40%), undergraduate education (63.71%), and graduate education (55.07%) stated that sometimes preventive vaccination may have life-threatening consequences. A very small percentage of both groups of respondents with secondary and undergraduate education expressed the opinion that such situations often happen (1.69% vs. 1.61%), but this opinion was not shared by any of the respondents with graduate education. Analyzing the dependency between the sense of coherence and one’s level of education, a significant difference between the respondents with secondary education and undergraduate education was observed. Although differences between respondents with graduate education and respondents with undergraduate education existed, they were not very significant. Conclusions. The educational background of the respondents has an impact on their opinions on preventive vaccination. The great majority of respondents believed that vaccination is necessary in order to avoid many dangerous diseases. Respondents with graduate education evaluated preventive vaccination in a positive or a very positive way. The subjects differed in their global sense of coherence together with its components. The general sense of coherence stood at an average level, with the mean of 129.02 points. The highest results were obtained by the respondents in the area of resourcefulness, which is a belief that they had at their disposal remedial resources, including preventive vaccination.

Opis:
Aim. Identification and construction of the typology of attitudes of health care professionals in Ukraine to the current COVID-19 situation and vaccination process. Methods. Transcripts of 49 semi-structured interviews subjected to thematic analysis constituted the subject matter of the analysis. On the basis of the categories identified within the thematic analysis process, a typology was developed, with due account of two parameters: the idea about the origin of the virus: artificial or natural, and the attitude of the informants to the policy (implementation of policy decisions) chosen by the authorities to fight the virus. Combination of these two parameters gives four standpoints—types of attitude of health care professionals to the risks associated with COVID-19. Results and conclusion. Analysis of the results has enabled to outline the problem field for assessing the risk of COVID-19, which includes three topics, as well as to point out four typical standpoints in the attitude displayed by health care professionals that are marked as “magical thinking,” “technological thinking,” “negativistic thinking,” “critical thinking.” Originality. The research was conducted during the third wave of coronavirus in Ukraine, therefore, it reflects the analysed opinions of health care professionals about the threat of COVID-19 and vaccination process. The fact that the research was performed using qualitative methods ensured focusing on subjective peculiarities of the perception of changes in the COVID-19 situation.

Opis:
This review is aimed at introducing the subject of veterinary prevention in dairy cattle farms. Prevention is covering many areas of veterinary medicine and animal breeding. Veterinary aspects focus on avoiding health problems, mainly the frequency of infectious diseases. This goal is achieved by ensuring and maintaining an appropriate level of animal welfare and sanitation for the entire herd. Bio-insurance is focused on preventing the spread of diseases and the pests control in the farm. Important elements of biosecurity in a dairy cattle farm, more widely discussed in this article, include quarantine for new animals, rat extermination and restriction of birds access. Diseases affecting dairy cattle differ from those, occurring in other farm animals, so the economic risk scale is often more significant. Currently, the greatest health and economic damage in Poland is caused by infectious IBR/IPV and BVD. The modern approach to the prevention of infectious diseases, requires the use of mass immunization of livestock. There is an unwritten rule in the practitioners community not to cooperate with the owner, who does not care about the risk of BVD and IBR/IPV herd infections and refuses to implement a vaccination program. It is similar with owners, who do not care about biosecurity on their farms. The author shows, it is better and less expensive to apply and take care of prevention, than to treat an already sick herd.
