Nowadays, the role of English in teaching sociology has been increasing significantly, as far as the English language is an international medium of academic communication worldwide. Polish universities also follow this global trend. Students are offered not only general English courses but also specialised facultative courses in English. Taking into account the last one, a reflexive qualitative research has been carried out at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, the Maria Grzegorzewska University in Warsaw. The objective of four face-to-face expert interviews with the academic teachers was exploring teaching methods and techniques, as well as difficulties in the process of teaching sociology with the use of English as a foreign language. An expert interview was designed starting from the teaching background, followed by teaching reflections on their didactic practice and ending with the academic teachers’ thoughts on the role of English in sociology. The following issues were considered: 1) methods and techniques of incorporating English in teaching sociology to Polish students; 2) strategies of motivating students to use English in sociology; 3) the perception of difficulties; 4) reflections on empowering students.The research results in the field of the sociological facultative English-based courses revealed the dominance of some ways of using the language over others. All experts acknowledged that they aimed to develop sociological English through the communicative and task-based approaches. They engaged students in reading sociological texts and critically discussed them. Some of the academic teachers referred also to watching and listening to native speakers as important ways to activate students during their classes. Moreover, the experts took into account students specific interests and encouraged them to prepare a presentation or to write a short essay. Some experts used also the collaborative methods when students were involved in group projects and group presentations. In general, the experts developed interesting and important topics of social life and research to strengthen the students’ intrinsic motivation. It was noticed that the presence of foreign students becomes a reasonable factor of improving English-based communication among Polish and foreign students in classroom. The experts pointed out that there were various linguistic, psychological and institutional barriers in teaching sociological subjects in English for Polish university students. Nevertheless, they tried to overcome those obstacles whenever it was possible.

Research shows that the leading e-learning courses definitely focus on the acquisition of knowledge by students. It is recommended that teachers take action in developing their own strategies in remote teaching. The results of the research may be an important part in the discussion on online teaching that constantly takes place in the environment of teachers dealing with the media.

Opis:
In the paper a comparatistic study conducted on the 1st grade students of sociology and pedagogy is discussed. The study was focused on the language skills of students. The most important skills tested were the abilities to decode academic content. The study show that the student have very poor language skills of decoding the academic content on every level of its complexity. They have also noticable problems with the definition of basic academic terms. The significance of gained results are high because of the innovational topic and character of the study, which was the first such study conducted on students of a Polish university. Results are also valuable for academic teachers who are interested in such problems as efefctive communication with students.

This paper explores social responsibility training as part of university educational programmes. The authors compare French and Bulgarian students’ perceptions of various elements of social responsibility and how social responsibility is approached in universities’ curricula. Bulgarian students see social responsibility more often in terms of volunteer work, charitable activities and career opportunities, while French students associate it with environmental aspects. The only statistically significant gender difference in Bulgaria emerged in linking improving working conditions with social responsibility. French students placed stronger emphasis on business and the possible practical applications of social responsibility training offered by universities.

Stefan Żeromski is one of the creators, whose literary work includes a cultural project. The definition of culture for the writer includes the entirety of human creations, both material and spiritual. He took on the role of a cultural educator and culture animator, the main purpose he decided to achieve was creating a “whole man”, a “cultural man”. The main field of his work was literature. In his works he included vast fragments of regarding the most important social issues. Aside from that, he practiced journalism. One of the most important volumes of his is Snobbism and progress, where he created a comprehensive vision of a modern country. Żeromski took part also in a number of social initiatives such as creating various institutions of libraries, theatres, schools, a popular university, science courses. In his actions he targeted modernity, but he did not forget about tradition. In his understanding culture is supposed to teach passing values to others.

W artykule przeprowadzono analizę postaw i oczekiwań studentów polskich uczelni wobec oferty edukacyjnej wyższych uczelni. Zaprezentowano wyniki badań ankietowych, przeprowadzonych w maju 2022 r. Próbę badawczą stanowiło 1018 studentów z różnych polskich uczelni. Przeprowadzone badania umożliwiły przedstawienie oczekiwań studentów związanych z rozpoczęciem studiów, a także wyszczególnienie kwestii, które zadecydowały o wyborze uczelni i kierunków studiów. Nakreślono również słabe strony oferty edukacyjnej. Uzyskana wiedza może istotnie ulepszyć ofertę edukacyjną, wyeliminować jej mankamenty, przyczyniać się do spełnienia oczekiwań studentów.
The aim of the article was to analyse the attitudes and expectations of Polish universities towards the educational offer of universities. The article presents the results of the survey conducted in May 2022. The research sample consisted of 1018 students from various Polish universities. The conducted research made it possible to present students’ expectations related to the beginning of studies, as well as to specify the issues that determined the choice of the university and fields of study. Weaknesses of the educational offer were also outlined. The acquired knowledge can significantly improve the educational offer, eliminate its shortcomings, and contribute to meeting students’ expectations.

W niniejszym artykule uwaga skupia się na nauczaniu prawa rzymskiego na rosyjskich uniwersytetach. W opracowaniu poddano analizie programy nauczania na większych uniwersytetach w Rosji, począwszy od Kaliningradu, przez Moskwę i Nowosybirsk, aż po Władywostok. Zasadniczym celem jest przedstawienie programów i założeń dotyczących prawa rzymskiego, funkcjonujących w rosyjskich ośrodkach naukowych.

Historia prawa to jedna z dyscyplin nauk prawnych. Studiowanie historii prawa (zwłaszcza polskiego) było ważne w okresie zaborów, ponieważ podkreślało tożsamość narodową. W tym czasie, w XIX wieku, wiodącym ośrodkiem naukowym był Uniwersytet Krakowski. To tam wykładano pierwsze przedmioty prawno-historyczne, dlatego też na tych uczelniach powstały pierwsze modele dydaktyczne. W XX wieku podejmowano wiele prób zmiany systemu szkolnictwa na potrzeby ówczesnej sytuacji. Szczególnie pamiętna wydaje się reforma z 1975 roku, która nie została pozytywnie przyjęta przez środowisko akademickie. Po ponad 40 latach niektóre uczelnie w Polsce nadal wzorują się na założeniach tego modelu. 
History of law is one of the disciplines of legal science. Studying the history of law (especially the Polish one) was significant during the partitions, because it emphasized national identity. At that time, in the19th century, the leading research centre was the University of Cra- cow. It was there that the first legal and historical subjects were taught, which is why the first didactic models were developed at these universities. In the 20th century, to meet the needs of that times, many attempts were made to change the education system. Especially memorable seems to be the reform of 1975, which was not approved by the academic community. After over 40 years, some universities in Poland are still following the assumptions of that model.

Teaching culture and literature of the past at the university is not easy, even at language studies departments where students are supposed to be willing to read books and learn about the history and culture of foreign countries. It appears that young people are reluctant to express themselves in academic classes and prefer to wait passively for the teacher to dictate them what is worth noting. In my opinion, this is not what academic lectures should look like. The university should use different means, adapted at best to the contemporary students’ profiles, to help them learn how to think critically and to debate democratically. The great responsibility of the university is to form future citizens. This much depends on the academic teachers who elaborate the lecture programs and ought to shape a creative atmosphere in their classes, a base for the exchange of ideas and opinions, which is essential to prepare students for their adult life.

The article concerns the results of theoretical and empirical research of designing and realization of modern Web-services in the educational process of high school as well as implementation and application of Google Classroom service in the educational process of a university. The scientific and methodological bases of the research are substantiated. The features of Web-services were revealed and the economic, technical, functional, functional-educational, personal, and educational advantages of using Google Classroom in institutions of higher education were determined. The methodical steps of using Google Classroom in the process of teaching and studying the discipline “Psychology of Interpersonal Communication” by students of the specialty 053 Psychology were characterized. The results of Google Classroom service implementation in the process of studying by students the discipline are proven, empirically and statistically validated. The effect is an increase in the level of students’ effective interpersonal communication qualities that demonstrate the benefits of using this service for psychology students, especially during pandemic times. The issues of designing and implementing the Google Classroom service in the process of studying other psychological disciplines by students of humanities at all educational levels, as well as examining the advantages and disadvantages of using this service, are treated by the authors as promising for further research.
Artykuł dotyczy wyników badań teoretycznych i empirycznych projektowania i realizacji nowoczesnych serwisów internetowych w procesie edukacyjnym szkoły wyższej oraz implementacji i zastosowania usługi Google Classroom w procesie edukacyjnym uczelni. Uzasadnione są naukowe i metodologiczne podstawy badań. Ujawniano funkcje serwisów internetowych oraz określono zalety ekonomiczne, techniczne, funkcjonalne, funkcjonalno-edukacyjne, osobiste i edukacyjne korzystania z Google Classroom w szkołach wyższych. Scharakteryzowano metodyczne etapy wykorzystania Google Classroom w procesie nauczania i studiowania przedmiotu psychologia komunikacji interpersonalnej przez studentów specjalności 053 Psychologia. Wyniki wdrożenia usługi Google Classroom w procesie studiowania przez studentów tego przedmiotu są udowodnione, potwierdzone empirycznie i statystycznie. Efektem jest wzrost poziomu umiejętności skutecznej komunikacji interpersonalnej studentów, który pokazuje korzyści płynące z korzystania z tej usługi dla studentów specjalności psychologia, zwłaszcza w czasach pandemii. Zagadnienia projektowania i wdrażania usługi Google Classroom w procesie studiowania innych dyscyplin psychologicznych przez studentów kierunków humanistycznych na wszystkich poziomach kształcenia oraz badanie zalet i wad korzystania z tej usługi autorki traktują jako obiecujące do dalszych badań.

The aim of this article is to demonstrate to show intergenerational differences in the culture of studying and in the perception of the university and teaching from the last 50. years. Memories of lecturers regarding sociological studies at the Institute of Sociology of the University of Lodz and their opinions on current students of sociology and student culture (from the didactic perspective) were compared with the subjective observations of the author of the article representing that generation who completed their studies in 2017. The aim of distinguishing these three perspectives is to high light the transformation of the university which, as an idea, has undergone many modifications since its crystallisation in the Middle Ages. The outline of the university’s history, as well as various approaches to its functions and model adopted in the article is an introduction to illustrating the dynamic process of constant change taking place, both in the aspect of creating and transferring science, as well as broadly understood academic relations. The article seeks to distinguish and demonstrate generational differences in the Mannheim’s perspective between sociology students undertaking studies in the sixties and beginning studies after the first decade of the 21st century.
W artykule podjęto próbę wskazania różnic międzypokoleniowych w kulturze studiowania oraz w samym postrzeganiu uniwersytetu i nauczania z ostatnich pięćdziesięciu lat. W tym celu zestawiono wspomnienia wykładowców dotyczące studiów socjologicznych w Instytucie Socjologii Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego oraz ich opinie na temat obecnych studentów socjologii i kultury studenckiej (już z perspektywy dydaktyka) z subiektywnymi spostrzeżeniami autorki artykułu reprezentującej pokolenie, które ukończyło swoje studia w 2017 roku. Celem wyróżnienia tych trzech perspektyw jest ukazanie przemian uniwersytetu, który jako pewnego rodzaju idea, przeszedł wiele modyfikacji od momentu swojego wykrystalizowania się w średniowieczu. Zaprezentowany w artykule zarys historii uniwersytetu oraz różnych podejść do jego funkcji i przyjętego modelu jest wprowadzeniem do zilustrowania dynamicznego procesu nieustannych zmian zachodzących w jego murach, zarówno w aspekcie tworzenia i przekazywania nauki, jak i szeroko rozumianych relacji akademickich. Artykuł jest próbą wyodrębnienia oraz ukazania różnic pokoleniowych w ujęciu Mannheimowskim między studentami socjologii podejmującymi studia w latach sześćdziesiątych a tymi rozpoczynającymi studiowanie po pierwszej dekadzie XXI wieku.

In the development of languages (including varieties) nationalities or countries play an important role. That is how pluricentric languages have developed. In the field of German as a pluricentric language many articles have already been published in scientific magazines. In spite of that the pluricentricity of languages is hardly acknowledged – the effects can be seen in dictionaries, in programs of teaching at universities (literature, linguistics as well as translation studies), but above all in text books for students, where elements of pluricentricity are usually absent. That is why some desiderata for the future teaching German as a Foreign Language ought to be expressed.

Opis:
The paper presents the university from the point of view of the social doctrine of the Church as a special institution which contributes to the creation of the common good. The ethical mission of the university serving man in the modern social context is presented. Finding the values rooted in man as a social being, is a prerequisite for creating community. The ethical and social principles of Catholic social teaching serve this process, thus the paper is trying to compile their canonic potential with the educational mission of the university, whose fundamental task remains the development of a wise, honest and good man. A proper and full concept of man is fundamental, because it determines the quality of the common good.
