Opis:
The article presents history of liberty in the past and contemporary liberal thought. This article grounds that creators of liberalism passed by a long way to define precisely the phenomenon of liberty. When creators were closer to the present day, they tried to separate liberty from metaphysics and morality with reference to the ideals of democracy. However, they confused the cult of equality with the liberty to show that the truth always must be at liberty’s service. But the liberty should be understood like a competence to realize person’s rights. Not till then, liberalism will conceal the historic and present–time demons.

Opis:
The ecclesiastical context appears to have a special importance for moraleducation. This is obvious as moral education is carried out in the life ofa specific religious community. The second half of the 20th century, i.e., the period introducing us into the new millennium, has been a time of deeptransformations in Christianity and particularly in the Catholic Church.Needless to say, these transformations have had a remarkable impact onthe process of moral education of the young generation. It may be said that the political, economic, social, cultural and religiouschanges of the 20th century have a specific character. A symptomatic featureof these changes, observed especially nowadays, is their rapid pace as wellas their universal character. Industrial civilization transformed not onlypeople’s external living conditions, but has had an influence on man’sinner life and on his behaviour in both moral and religious spheres. Theoccurrence of these changes can be noted not only in particular nations, but indeed in the whole of mankind. The new conditions exert an influence also on religious life. Onthe one hand they enhance the ability of a critical judgment and havea purifying effect on the world outlook, ridding it of magical elements andoccasional superstitions which happen to darken it. On the other hand thereis required a more personal and active clinging to faith, which helps manypeople to adopt a more vital relationship with God; many others, however, practically abandon religion.

Opis:
The argument which is now going on in Europe and which concerns Christian values and the concept of social life is nothing else, but the argument (although sometimes veiled) which regards man himself It is not true that it focuses only on the role of religion and position of the Church in a democratic state. The essential issue, in fact, is the full truth about man. No one who is ready to take up responsibility for the shape of human life - whether in individual or social context - can pretend that he does not understand the crucial idea of this argument.Truth is the boundary of freedom and beyond this boundary there is no more freedom, but destructive arbitrariness alone. Breaking the bond between freedom and truth, the bond which makes a human person even more himself, is equivalent to questioning the wisdom of the drama of Redemption. The Ethos of Redemption is the meeting of truth and freedom in a man. Divine friendship towards people consists in God's introducing us into the sphere of confidence, the sphere of confidence being truth. Christ did all to convince us about the importance of the answer which man should give in the conditions of inner freedom. Only then can we speak about 'veritatis splendor' which is so essential for human dignity.
