Opis:: This paper presents the findings of research carried out by the author, concerning the development of tourist function in the period 1995-2005. Tourist function was defined by means of two features: the number of tourists using lodging facilities and the number of companies registered in the REGON system, section H. In order to quantify the tourist function, a synthetic measure (Ft) was employed according to the procedure of Z. Zioło (1973). Based on this measure, five levels of tourist function development were specified. Next, an analysis was carried out on what changes (quantitative and spatial) occurred in the development of tourist function in rural areas. Special attention was paid to the so-called tourist communes (gmina), i.e. those where the tourist function is developed to at least an intermediate level. For these communes, nine functional types were identified, based on two features – the average length of visitors’ stay and the percentage of all-year lodging). Moreover, changes taking place in the studied period were specified.

Opis:: The tourist function is frequently mentioned as one of those functions which are expected to contribute to the diversification of the local economy and multifunctional development of rural areas. However, the process of strengthening the tourist potential of the countryside faces numerous obstacles and the accumulation of various functions, many a time with a disagreeable character, significantly increases the risk of occurrence of socio-spatial conflicts. The aim of this work is to define the relationship between three structural conditions important for the development of the tourist function: tourist attractiveness, the structure of revenues and expenditures of gminas (communes) in terms of tourism and environmental protection as well as the placement of tourist functional areas defined in the Development Strategy of Lodz Region 2020. In order to fulfil this aim, problematic areas have been identified on the basis of conducted analyses, i.e. the areas in which the tourist function is high, yet there is a real or potential risk of socio-spatial conflict. Using the method of case studies, the authors have made an attempt at defining tourism in the local development policy of selected rural areas from Lodz Region and the risk of occurrence of socio-spatial conflicts, mainly functional in their character.

The tourism industry in Poland has experienced dramatic development at the beginning of the 21st c. Large cities have seen in-depth changes, both spatial and functional, from the impact of tourism. As one of Poland's most popular tourism centres, Kraków is undergoing a process of intensive tourism development. This traditional centre of domestic sightseeing is now changing into a multifunctional International tourist centre.

Opis:: development strategies of municipalities located in the Sudetes. Material and methods. The study involved 44 Sudetes municipalities. The officially accepted strategies of municipality development and tourism development were analysed in the context of strategic and operational objectives, vision of the municipality and its mission, SWOT analysis, and key tasks. The authors collated the results with the development of the tourist function. Results and conclusions. The role of tourism is mentioned in most of the analysed documents owing to the attractive natural and cultural environment. Up to 89% of the studied municipalities involved tourism in SWOT analyses and 73% of them presented tourist attractions widely in their development strategies. However, the municipalities rarely employ their values to create advanced tourist products; these are included only in 25% of the documents. Unfortunately, they can be mostly classified as potential ones. The municipalities with a downward trend of tourism function show the smallest interest in tourism development. Others present different approaches to it.

Opis:: Celem pracy była próba zdiagnozowania rozwoju funkcji turystycznej obszarów wielkopolskich parków krajobrazowych. Funkcja turystyczna obszaru to szeroko rozumiana działalność społeczno-ekonomiczna pełniona przez określony obszar (region lub miejscowość) i jego mieszkańców, skierowana na obsługę turystów przybyłych na wypoczynek3. Rozwój funkcji turystycznej określa się zwykle za pomocą mierników opartych na wielkości bazy noclegowej i ruchu turystycznego, wśród których najczęściej stosowanymi są wskaźniki: Baretje’a, Schneidera, Charvata i Deferta.
The aim of this paper is to analyse the development of tourist function of Greater Poland landscape parks areas. There are many factors which influence the level of this development, among them are the level of tourism infrastructure and the intensity of tourist traffic, which are of crucial meaning. In the present study six indicators were taken into consideration, which describe the level of tourist function development – the number of tourist accommodation establishments per 100 km2, the accommodation facilities density rate, and as well Baretje’a, Schneider, Charvat and Dekert indicators. A total of 45 communities were examined which are located on 13 Wielkopolska landscape parks. The results show a significant positive correlation among the indicators and the landscape parks territory share. The highest level of tourist function development was noted in communities connected with Powidz, Pszczew and Sieraków Landscape Parks.

Opis:: The present publication describes a condition, way and level of tourist development and tourist movements of Rowy, a holiday resort. The analysis includes selected elements of tourist management such as accommodation, gastronomic and supplementary facilities. Size and frequency of tourist movements and social and demographic structures of tourists will be presented on the basis of measurements’ results of tourists resting on the Rowy’s beach. The pares also includes geographic range of Rowy’s influence.
Wśród jednostek osadniczych pełniących funkcje turystyczno-wypoczynkowe szczególne miejsce w Polsce przypada miejscowościom nadmorskim. W przypadku osadnictwa nadmorskiego funkcja turystyczna ma charakter sezonowy. Jej natężenie zmienia rytm życia i charakter miejscowości w czasie trwania sezonu letniego. Staje się ona wówczas funkcją dominującą o charakterze rekreacyjnym, co wiąże się z napływem ludności w celach wypoczynkowych. Celem niniejszego opracowania jest przedstawienie stanu, sposobu i stopnia zróżnicowania zagospodarowania turystycznego na przykładzie nadmorskiej wsi letniskowej jaką są Rowy. Rowy położone są na środkowym wybrzeżu Bałtyku w otulinie Słowińskiego Parku Narodowego, przy ujściu rzeki Łupawy z jeziora Gardno do morza. Mają doskonałe warunki klimatyczne i krajobrazowe, m.in. szeroką i piaszczystą plażę oraz malownicze krajobrazy. Rowy oddalone są o 30 km od Słupska oraz 20 km od Ustki. Jest to miejscowość, która w 2003 r. zamieszkiwana była przez 360 stałych mieszkańców. Przeprowadzone badania potwierdziły, że w pasie Środkowego Wybrzeża Rowy należą do bardziej atrakcyjnych miejscowości letniskowych o ukształtowanej funkcji turystycznej. Odzwierciedla się ona zarówno w zagospodarowaniu turystycznym jak i w strukturach funkcjonalno- przestrzennych. Ruch turystyczny natomiast w świetle pomiaru wypoczywających na plaży wykazuje wyraźne zróżnicowanie pod względem obciążenia poszczególnych odcinków plaży, pory dnia, struktur społeczno-demograficznych. Generalnie jest to ośrodek turystyki pobytowej o charakterze sezonowym, gdzie dominuje wypoczynek dzieci i młodzieży do lat 19 oraz osób w wieku 19-44 lat. Pochodzą one zarówno z kraju jak i z zagranicy. Zdecydowana większość turystów krajowych wywodzi się z woj. mazowieckiego, woj. śląskiego i woj. wielkopolskiego. Wśród turystów zagranicznych zaś przeważają turyści z Niemiec. Wydaje się, że turystyka w Rowach przy zaangażowaniu społeczności lokalnej oraz władz samorządowych gminy Ustka może w najbliższej przyszłości stać się podstawą egzystencji gospodarczej omawianej miejscowości.

Opis:: Tourism in the Baltic regions is considered an important factor of social and economic development of regions of touristic reception. Undisputable influence of tourism is observed in Baltic locations, especially those connected with providing backpack holiday offers and facilities. However, is it possible that tourism might generate development of local communities located some distance from the sea? This kind of assumption was included in the long-term plans of development of the city of Lebork. The present paper is an attempt to find an answer to the question if there are conditions to make tourism as important as other spheres determining social and economic growth of the city. In order to answer the question the author of the present paper carried out an empiric research into the issue of tourist traffic in Lebork, analyzing perception of the city by the tourists visiting the city. A detailed analysis showed specific concurrence of ideas concerning investment and touristic management plans prepared by the authorities with expectations of tourists. Therefore, one can expect that Lebork will become an important touristic center in the following years.
Powszechnie uznaje się, że turystyka stanowi ważny czynnik rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego obszarów recepcji turystycznej. Władze samorządowe poprzez podejmowanie działań strategicznych przy wykorzystaniu dostępnych technik i narzędzi nakreślają, promują i kreują wizje rozwoju własnej społeczności, umiejscawiając często turystykę na priorytetowym miejscu planu strategicznego. W prezentowanym opracowaniu podjęto probe określenia, czy słuszna jest koncepcja przypisywania ogromnej roli turystki w rozwoju społecznogospodarczym Lęborka, poprzez zweryfikowanie jej z opinią prezentowaną przez samych uczestników ruchu turystycznego – przybywających do miasta turystów. Empiryczne badania jakości ruchu turystycznego w Lęborku oraz ukazanie postrzegania miasta przez badanych turystów skonfrontowano z celami przyjętymi w Strategii rozwoju miasta Lęborka na lata 2004-2012. Szczegółowa analiza ukazała ogromną zbieżność proponowanych przez władze planów inwestycyjnych i zagospodarowania turystycznego z oczekiwaniami turystów. Należy zatem spodziewać się w najbliższych latach wzrostu znaczenia turystycznego Lęborka.

Opis:: An analysis, identification and assessment of the local conditions of agrotourism development in rural areas is performed in the paper. The important role of tourism both in the state policy and regional policy have been shown in the state and regional documents. In most of European countries off-farming activities become more and more important as a source of income for farmers' families. In some regions agrotourism can be regarded as a significant non-agricultural activity. In Poland the data of Agricultural Census indicates that the number of farms with off-farms activity increased. The agrotourist farms are still more and more important in many parts of Poland, especially in the wi tokrzyskie voivodship. The local and voivodship authorities are obliged to improve and invest in agrotourist base, also using the European Union funds. This study is the analysis of natural and social-economic elements of geographical environment in the wi tokrzyskie voivodship. The article is a trial of showing how rural areas are diversified for agrotourism.

Opis:: The aim of the research was to identify the level of the Polish municipality’s own investment capacity with the most significant share of naturally valuable areas in the years 2014-2016 and the level of tourism development of these areas. The methods of economic analysis – comparative, indicative and tools of taxonomic analysis were used here, which allowed for ranking of the surveyed units in terms of the level of naturally valuable, tourism function, the level of local development and own investment potential. The surveyed entities had their own investment capacity, however, due to the scope of infrastructure needs, it should be assessed as low. The conducted research indicates a small scope of development of tourism in communes with the with the highest naturally valuable areas. In results, it can be concluded that this development opportunity has not been effectively used. In the authors’ opinion, the development of the tourist function in the most naturally valuable areas which ensures that tourism will be the basis of local development of these areas is not possible without external support in the form of subsidies from the national budget and the implementation of knowledge on how to manage these areas.
