    The article begins from the state of research on the history of Thomistic philosophy to the Czech Republic. It discusse the most important figures of the Czech Thomism in 1897-1948 taking them in two generations of scholars. The particular attention is devoted to the Thomist environment Dominican Order from Olomouc who were publishing quarterly Filosofická revue in 1929-1948. As an example of the work of Czech Thomists author discusses an issue connected with the philosophical and theological aspects of upbringing the man. The achievements of Czech Thomists compared with whole Czech philosophy in author’s opinion is considerable: they organized International Conference of Thomistic Philosophy, they founded a magazine which was up to the global mark and published in it among others Maritain, Husserl, Patočka, they discussed about the latest philosophical currents and they reviewed philosophical dissertations from whole world. Czech Thomists’ writer activity also is very important: they published a lot of textbooks, monographs, dissertations and articles. Not all aims of Czech philosophers realized but they ordered relationships between faith and science. It was the reason treating Thomism in Republic Czech as a methodological thoroughness paragon.

    The article attempts to justify the thesis that Aleksander Usowicz has made contribution to the research on Cracow philosophy, which was developed in two periods: a) between the 15th and 17th centuries, b) at the end of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. Usowicz was one of the pioneers in post-war history of Polish philosophy, publishing between 1946 and 1949 several important articles, concerning Cracow philosophy (from 15th to 19th centuries). In addition, Usowicz was the leading commentator and interpreter of the philosophical thought of Konstanty Michalski – undoubtedly one of the most important catholic philosophers in the first half of the 20th century.
    W artykule podjęto próbę uzasadnienia tezy o wkładzie ks. Aleksandra Usowicza CM w badania nad krakowską filozofią, rozwijaną w dwóch okresach: a) między XV a XVII wiekiem, b) u schyłku XIX i w pierwszej połowie XX wieku. W świetle przeprowadzonych analiz ks. Usowicz jawi się jako jeden z pionierów powojennej historii filozofii polskiej, publikując w latach 1946–1949 kilka znaczących artykułów dotyczących myśli filozoficznej środowiska krakowskiego z wieków XV–XVII i XIX–XX. Ponadto ks. Usowicz zasługuje na miano czołowego komentatora myśli Konstantego Michalskiego, niewątpliwie jednego z najważniejszych krakowskich myślicieli katolickich pierwszej połowy XX wieku.

    The text presents a fragment of a philosophical and religious dispute that took place between Józef Tischner and the representatives of the Polish Thomistic school (1977-1978). The analy-sis below focuses on the last phase of the polemic, in which the adversaries made an analysis of their own epistemological and anthropological assumptions. Showing the structure and the issues in this dispute may lead to the specific context of understanding Christian philosophy, as well as contemporary discussions on the shape and structure of religious education. One of the central questions, which has hitherto not lost its relevance, is the one of the relationship that ex-ists between philosophy and religious thought (especially religious education). The following analysis is to provide the reader with a spectrum of possible answers to this question.
