Opis:
Studies associated with climate change and variability are of great importance at both the global and local scale in the global climate crisis. In this study, change-point detection and trend analysis were carried out on mean, maximum, minimum air temperatures and total precipitation based on monthly, seasonal and annual scale in Bartın province located in the western Black Sea Region of Turkey. For this aim, 4-different homogeneity tests (von Neumann test, Pettitt test, Buishand range test and standard normal homogeneity test) for changepoint detection, Modified Mann–Kendall test and Şen’s innovative trend test for trend analysis, and Sen’s slope test for the magnitude estimation of trends were used. According to the test results, the summer temperatures in particular show increasing trends at the 0.001 significance level. Mean maximum temperature in August, mean minimum temperature in June and August, and mean temperature in July and August are in increasing trend at the 0.001 significance level. Over a 51 year period (1965–2015) in Bartın province, the highest rate of change per decade in air temperatures is in August (0.55°C for Tmax, 0.46°C for Tmin and 0.43°C for Tmean) based on Sen’s slope. However, the study showed that apart from October precipitation, there is no significant trend in monthly, seasonal and annual precipitation in Bartın. Increasing trends in mentioned climate variables are also visually very clear and strong in Şen’s innovative trend method, and they comply with the statistical results. As a result, the study revealed some evidence that temperatures will increase in the future in Bartın and its environs.

Opis:
The impact of climate change on annual air temperature has received a great deal of attention from climatologists worldwide. Many studies have been conducted to illustrate that changes in temperature are becoming evident on a global scale. Air temperature, one of the most important components of climate parameters, has been widely measured as a starting point towards the apprehension of climate change and variability. The main objective of this study is to analyse the temporal variability of mean monthly temperature for the period of 1941 to 2010 (70 years). To detect the magnitude of trend in mean monthly temperature time series, we have used non-parametric test methods such as The Mann-Kendall test, often combined with the Theil-Sen’s robust estimate of linear trend. Whatever test is used, the user should understand the underlying assumptions of both the technique used to generate the estimates of a trend and the statistical methods used for testing. The results of this analysis reveal that four months – January, February, March and December – indicate a decreasing trend in average temperature, while the remaining eight months have an increasing trend. The magnitude of Mann-Kendall trend statistic Zc for this declining temperature and the magnitude of slope for the months of January, February and December are confirmed at the high significance levels of α = 0.001, 0.01 and 0.1 respectively. Though, the overall trend is positive for monthly as well as seasonally efficient time series.

Opis:
An ideal broiler house should be designed to minimize the effects of weather changes and to keep indoor conditions at the comfort temperature of the animals. In this case, this should be done with minimum cost and possible lowest operating costs. Degree-day methods are used in order to have knowledge of the energy need of any structure. With this method, the measured values or meteorological data can be used to give information about the heating and cooling energy quantities of structures. Depending on the climate change in recent years, the changes need to be examined that have taken place in order to provide optimum comfort in animal barn. Isparta province and districts were selected as the study area. The longterm average daily temperature values are used from meteorological stations of the selected region. The heating and cooling degree day values were calculated for selected balance temperatures in broiler breeding. Linear Regression Analysis and Spearman Rank Correlation Test were conducted to determine the changes of these values due to climate change. In conclusion, it was determined that there were statistically significant trends at 5% significance level in Egirdir (21°C), Isparta (31-29-25 and 23°C), Kasimlar (18°C), Senirkent (31-29-25-23 and 21°C), Sutculer (all selected balance temperature values) and Yalvac (31-29-25-23 and 21°C) in terms of heating degree-day values, and in Atabey (29-25-23-21 and 18°C), Barla (25-23 and 21°C), Isparta (23-21 and 18°C), Senirkent (29- 25-23-21 and 18°C), Sutculer (29-25-23-21 and 18°C), Sarkikaraagac (25-23-21 and 18°C), Uluborlu (25-23-21 and 18°C) and Yalvac (25-23-21 and 18°C) in terms of cooling degree-day values. As a result, it has been concluded that more energy consumption will be a concern for heating and cooling of the broiler house that will be built in the province of Isparta.

Opis:
Changes in the basic physical properties of selected areas of the Baltic Proper were analysed on the basis of the results of a 12-year series of high-resolution measurements collected during cruises of r/v ‘Oceania’. The high-resolution CTD sections covered three main basins: the Bornholm Basin, Słupsk Furrow and Gdańsk Basin. Positive temperature trends of 0.11 and 0.16◦C year−1 were observed in the surface and deep layers respectively. The salinity trend was also positive. The rise in the air temperature has probably caused the increase in surface water temperature, while advection has been of greater significance in the deep layer. The increase in salinity coincides with the more frequent occurrence of small and medium-size inflows through the Danish Straits, even though large inflows are evidently less frequent than used to be the case. The seasonal variability of temperature in the water column was analysed. The phase shift in the seasonal evolution with depth is described. The maximum temperature shift in the waters investigated varies from 32 to 38 days.
