Opis:
The article assumes that the assessment of the method and quality of teaching computer science in primary schools, formulated by those most interested in this quality (i.e. students taking computer science lessons), has, apart from the analysis of statistical data describing the computer and educational infrastructure, key importance for the assessment of competences with which students leave primary school. This assessment, even if subjective, based on opinions and not tests of competences juxtaposed with grades issued by teachers, should be the basis for designing a reform of teaching computer science in primary schools, not so much in terms of curriculum content, but rather in the sphere of educational practice. The article reports the results of an opinion poll conducted on this subject among secondary school students. The surveyed students had the opportunity to express their opinions and assessments on such matters as: computer science as a practical discipline, the structure of the curriculum and the process of its implementation, evaluation of the quality of computer science lessons in terms of content and the background of the teaching process itself (equipment and teachers).

Professional qualifications are classified legally and are the same cross the professional spectrum. What factor determines teachers’ didactic, educational and professional aspirations and self-evaluation? Who/what determines that the teacher becomes an (anti)authority for his/her students, can instill their passion for learning or discourage them? When are a teacher’s education and qualifications of less importance than his/her competences? There are teachers for whom work is only an obligation, a duty towards the school, and education is the obligation of a student. They are teachers working with children only because it is their legal duty. But there are also teachers who teach students how to learn, instilling in them educational freedom. These are guide-teachers who reveal their students’ horizons, teaching them to choose a new knowledge that is supposed to give them satisfaction, emotional joy and practical benefits.

Opis:
Background. Before introducing changes into study programs one needs to recognize areas of strengths and weaknesses in current practice. In the case of physical education, school apprenticeship is one of the critical elements of pre-service teachers’ preparation. The aim of the study was to measure the level of physical education students and teachers in terms of their practical preparation for school teaching. Material and methods. In the design of the study an action research model has been employed. For collecting data a self-designed questionnaire was developed including questions in three areas: organizational, didactic and socio-cultural, using 5-point Likert scale. A sample of 128 second-year students of physical education (62 female and 66 male students) and a sample of 44 PE teachers (16 men and 28 women) were examined. Results. Both the students and pre-service teachers indicated the lowest competence in organizational aspects while the highest one in sociocultural aspects. Whereas in-service PE teachers assessed their highest competence in organizational aspects. Generally, in-service teachers’ self-evaluation was higher than the students’ one in all aspects. Conclusions. Findings showed which areas need stronger emphasis during the course of studies before students are sent to school for teacher apprenticeship. A dissonance between the examined in-service teachers’ high self-evaluation and rather inadequate tutoring of students during school teacher apprenticeship reported in other research studies is worth testing in more in-depth studies.
