    The concept of global education is based on the recognition of the world as a network of interdependencies and on realizing the fact that the current direction of the development of civilization is leading to environmental and humanitarian disaster. On the other hand, there is a belief that there is still a chance to change this state of affairs by means of education. The purpose of education is recognized as not only a transfer of knowledge, but also as a transfer of morals that are able to generate a shift in attitudes. In order to strengthen the impact of the global education project, it is necessary to provide a coherent description and axiological analysis of the values behind it. In the paper, we argue that ethicists should work on building philosophical arguments for the development and implementation of global education programs. We argue further that such a philosophical framework should be based on the ideas of new humanism (proposed by Aurelio Peccei) and global responsibility (formulated by Hans Jonas).

    The question of social justice is a very important element of global education. Social justice refers to the equity principle in relations between large social groups; it concerns social classes and groups, nations, and faith groups. It encompasses the past, the present and the future. Due to the fact that global education is not merely a description but also an evaluation proposition, it is a scientific discipline about social justice. It has always been so, because no programme of economic, political or ideological expansion could exist without axiology. The problem of global education today is not limited to creating a programme adequate to the needs; it should also include a revision of its current content.
    Zagadnienie sprawiedliwości społecznej stanowi bardzo istotny element edukacji globalnej. Sprawiedliwość społeczna, dotycząca zasady równości w relacjach między wielkimi grupami społecznymi, dotyczy klas i warstw, narodów oraz grup wyznaniowych. Obejmuje ona zarówno przeszłość, teraźniejszość, jak i przyszłość. Ponieważ edukacja globalna nie jest jedynie opisem, ale również propozycją wartościowania, jest więc także nauką o sprawiedliwości społecznej. I zawsze nią była, gdyż żaden program ekspansji gospodarczej, politycznej czy ideowej nie mógł funkcjonować bez aksjologii. Problemem dzisiejszej edukacji globalnej jest nie tylko stworzenie adekwatnego do potrzeb, programu, lecz także rewizja dotychczasowych treści programowych.

    Sustainable development is a new social contract, and freedom is a conditio sine qua non for both the social contract in its classic scenes, as well as sustainable development as a new social contract. This paper shows primarily how social contract has evolved over the centuries and what is the novelty of sustainable development as a social contract.

    The author defines three equally important theories: the eco-management and audit system with sustainable development and social responsibility. A critical query of literature in English and Polish indicated the necessary and sufficient conditions to link the spatial structure of cities with the features of the three theories. The literature, however, does not include such a synthetic consideration of the urban development model, where the eco-management system is based on social responsibility and sustainable development. The thesis is that the process of socially responsible city management is based on true sustainable development, which is achieved in the city’s eco-management and audit system, based on the identified environmental aspects of the city. The article is the first comprehensive piece of evidence to demonstrate the need for a compulsory (rather than voluntary) and deep environmental approach to urban development to make it equitably responsible and sustainable. The article indicates the research gaps, which are the environmental and socio-ecological aspects of cities. A definition of the term environmental management and audit system of cities as an organisation is given. The lack of ecological security of semi-peripheral and the peripheral cities may be the reason why global civilisation challenges cannot be met. The author refers to the ecological safety of cities, proposes potential future research and invites to intercultural discussions on the problems of city management, which are still not socially responsible and sustainable.

    Increasing globalization, unplanned industrialization, and unethical industrial practices have created enormous environmental and social problems. Sustainable development has the potential to handle these problems. Nowadays, environmental and social sustainability are no more considered as voluntary activities to the company. However, these are the needs of the society and human being to survive in the earth. This paper discusses the issues pertaining implementation of sustainability in the global supply chain. The philosophical need of carrying out business from totally profit oriented to sustainable is discussed in this paper. The paper also discusses various operational and strategic issues for implementing sustainability. We conjecture that environmental footprint and social obligations must be monitored beyond the boundary of the country. Environmental footprint and social sustainability should be monitored at each level to make a global supply chain sustainable.
    Globalizacja, industrializacja i moralnie naganne praktyki przemysłowe doprowadziły do poważnych problemów środowiskowych i społecznych. Szansę na ich przezwyciężenie ma konsekwentne wprowadzanie rozwoju zrównoważonego. Obecnie zrównoważenie środowiskowe i społeczne w przypadku firm nie są już uważane za dobrowolne. Są to potrzeby społeczeństw i ludzi, niezbędne do naszego przetrwania na ziemi. Niniejszy artykuł omawia zagadnienia związane z wdrażaniem zrównoważonego rozwoju w globalnym łańcuchu dostaw. Omówiono filozoficzną potrzebę przestawienia prowadzonej działalności gospodarczej z całkowicie nastawionej na zysk na zrównoważoną. Omówiono także różne kwestie operacyjne i strategiczne dotyczące wdrażania zrównoważonego rozwoju. Uważamy, że w zglobalizowanym świecie do analizy śladu ekologicznego i zobowiązań społecznych, perspektywa krajowa nie jest wystarczającą, muszą być one monitorowane z perspektywy międzynarodowej. Ponadto ślad środowiskowy i zrównoważony rozwój społeczny powinny być monitorowane na każdym poziomie, aby globalny łańcuch dostaw był zrównoważony.
