The topos of Christian restraint and poverty, health, well-being, education, upbringing, gender equality, and management are highlighted and grounded.     Opis:
    Civilizational threats considered from ecological, economic and social aspects are the rudimentary reference point for theoretical studies on sustainable development. Manifold concepts and interpretations of the risk issue were converted into proposals for solutions that are primarily reflected in strategic documents on sustainable development and programs related to security. Mutual interactions, or even interpenetration of some threats on other may affect the efficiency of implementing preventive and corrective programs. Consequently, scientists point to the need of adopting more systemic solutions whose implementation requires a specific policy and properly selected tools of its realization. The key initiator and promoter of sustainable development is the United Nations. The objectives and directions of activities indicated by that organization and including prevention of such threats as poverty, hunger and environmental degradation, were proposed in the United Nations Millennium Declaration. The 15 years of implementing the document’s resolutions concluded in the preparation of a report summarizing the project, i.e. The Millennium Development Goals Report 2015. The present paper outlines the issue of threats in the context of international striving for security and reduction of global, primarily social, problems. It provides an evaluation of the ways in which the UN policy is conducted as well as practical realization of this policy, at the example of the Millennium Declaration. The conducted analysis allowed to define the future prospects for the implementation of this policy, especially with respect to preventing social threats.

    Opis:
    In this article, the author analyzes eco-education from a transdisciplinary perspective, as part of the “new education”, referring to its current dimensions, its goals and its utility in shaping the attitudes and behaviors of contemporary humans towards their environment and towards sustainable living. The goals and content of eco-education are dependent on a new philosophy, on a new axiological and ethical orientation that is, opposed to rationalistic philosophy, which guided the age of machinism and industrialization. The new view regarding humans’ (anthroposphere) relations with nature (biosphere and geosphere), is inspired from the fundamental rights of the human being, as part of nature, from universal values which harmonize sociosphere and biosphere, the ecological awareness of contemporary society with regard to the objective laws of nature, biodiversity conservation and environmental protection by juridical laws. These goals are meant for the entire population, especially children and young people, with the aid of schools and other educational factors (church, mass – media, cultural foundations, non-governmental organizations etc.), an ecological awareness, positive feelings and attitudes with respect to the environment, skills, abilities and capacities for efficient action in the sense of protecting nature and conserving ecological circuits. The author lays an emphasis on the idea that ecological education, in all its forms, will not yield the results expected by experts and future generations if it is undertaken randomly, fragmentarily, incoherently – regardless of how diversified and quantitatively extended it might be. As a global issue of today’s society – the efficiency of eco-education is dependent on the philosophy of nature and life, materialized in a global strategy, such as that of durable and knowledge-based development, which will facilitate the harmonization of various public policies launched by contemporary organizations and authorities. Generally speaking, any public policy has an ecological component, and the obtainment of performance in ecological policies necessarily involves an adequate ecological education.

    W artykule omówiono problematykę konfliktu celów ekonomicznych, społecznych i środowiskowych w kontekście idei zrównoważonego rozwoju. Autorzy starali się udowodnić, że najskuteczniejszym sposobem realizacji tej koncepcji jest szukanie nie konfliktów, ale obszarów wspólnych interesów. Oprócz efektów "trade-off" można zaobserwować efekty "trade-up". Można znaleźć wiele interesujących przykładów istnienia takiego zjawiska w praktyce, w sferze logistyki. Efekt ten oznacza, że cele, które zwykle stoją ze sobą w sprzeczności, mogą być osiągane jednocześnie. Idea "trade-up" została zaproponowana do rozwiązania dylematów zrównoważonego rozwoju. Problem ten przedstawiono na przykładzie transportu.
    In the paper the problems of conflict of economical, social and environmental goals of sustainable development have been discussed. The authors tried to prove that the most effective way to implement this concept is to look not for conflicts but for common goals. Apart from "trade-offs" effect we can also observe "trade-up effects". In practice many interesting examples of such relation, in the area of logistics, can be found. The idea of "trade-up" was proposed to solve dilemmas of sustainable development. The "trade-up" relation has been discussed on the example of transport and logistics. Some solutions have been proposed to solve the conflicts of economical, ecological and social objectives.

    Opis:
    The article considers the conceptual basis for strengthening social and labor potential of sustainable development in the context of economic efficiency and social justice. The essence of the categories social potential, social capital and social imperative in their interrelation with the social and labor sphere of society with the account of the needs of sustainable development is specified. Strengthening of social potential is considered as a complex of actions in such areas as education, culture, health care, economic and social spheres, social relations. The paper focuses on strong interconnections work – employment – labor potential – social potential – human development – sustainable development. A mechanism of strengthening social and labor potential through the transformation of employment in the context of the paradigm of sustainable development is suggested.
    Artykuł przedstawia podstawy pojęciowe dla wzmocnienia społecznego i pracowniczego potencjału zrównoważonego rozwoju w kontekście efektywności ekonomicznej i sprawiedliwości społecznej. Ukazano istotę kategorii społeczny potencjał, kapitał społeczny i imperatyw społeczny w ich współzależności ze sferą społeczna i pracowniczą społeczeństwa, z uwzględnieniem potrzeb zrównoważonego rozwoju. Wzmacnianie potencjału społecznego następuje poprzez złożone działania mające miejsce w sferach takich, jak edukacja, kultura, opieka zdrowotna, sfery ekonomiczne i społeczne, a także relacje społeczne. Artykuł koncentruje się na silnej współzależności: praca – zatrudnienie – potencjał pracy – potencjał społeczny – rozwój człowieka – zrównoważony rozwój. Ponadto ukazano mechanizm wzmacniania potencjału społecznego i pracowniczego w kontekście paradygmatu rozwoju zrównoważonego.
